For a price calculated while a visitor fills out a form, shortlist a calculation-capable form builder such as Formidable Forms or Gravity Forms. For WooCommerce shoppers asking a seller to price one or more catalog products, use a request-a-quote extension such as YITH Request a Quote or the WooCommerce Marketplace extension. A quote basket collects a request; it does not necessarily calculate a price.
First decide whether you need a price calculator or a quote request
These plugins solve two different problems:
- Instant price calculation: Visitors select options—such as service type, size, quantity, or add-ons—and the form calculates and displays a price according to your rules. This suits services with pricing that can be expressed as a formula or rate table.
- Request a quote: A shopper selects catalog products and submits them, with any relevant details, for the seller to review and price. This suits wholesale, custom, or otherwise negotiable WooCommerce orders.
Some sites need both: a calculator for standard services and a separate request workflow for unusual projects. Choose based on the customer’s intended outcome, not simply whether a plugin uses the word “quote.”

Form builders for calculated service quotes
For a service quote that should appear before the customer submits the form, inspect the calculation logic and result presentation—not just the form builder’s general feature list. Check whether your pricing can be expressed with the fields and rules available in the license you plan to buy, and whether customers receive the result on screen and in the submitted email or confirmation.

WooCommerce extensions for seller-reviewed quotes
A WooCommerce quote extension is a better fit when customers need to collect products into a request and the seller will decide or negotiate the price. Review the complete path from product selection to seller response. A button that replaces Add to Cart may only collect an inquiry; it does not necessarily provide a basket, status management, customer updates, or accepted-quote order conversion.

Check the full customer and seller handoff
Before choosing a WooCommerce extension, map the journey you expect customers and staff to follow:
- Product selection: Can shoppers add multiple products to a quote basket, or can they only send a question about one product?
- Price display: Can the extension hide prices or replace checkout controls where your store needs that behavior?
- Request details: Can the form collect the information the seller needs to prepare a quote?
- Seller workflow: Can staff review requests, respond, and track their status inside the workflow?
- Customer updates: Does the extension provide the notifications or response steps your customers need?
- Accepted quote: Can the customer move from an accepted quote to an order, and does that process match your payment and fulfillment setup?
WooCommerce’s official quote-request documentation says: “By default, all the Quotes will be submitted in ‘Approximate Quote’ Mode.” Read the WooCommerce Quote Request documentation to understand what that mode means for the workflow you plan to use.

Match the plugin to your existing WordPress setup
A standalone service calculator and a WooCommerce product quote flow have different integration needs. Check the plugin’s compatibility with the WordPress and WooCommerce versions on your site, the other extensions involved in your checkout or forms, and the add-ons needed for your chosen workflow. Also confirm that the required feature is included in the exact plan or license you intend to use; feature gates and compatibility details can change.
How to make the final choice
- Choose a calculation-capable form builder when visitors should see a price derived from their answers immediately. Test your actual formulas, conditional fields, displayed result, and email output against the intended license.
- Choose a WooCommerce quote extension when visitors select catalog products and a seller must review, negotiate, or provide pricing. Confirm basket behavior, price display controls, seller management, customer communication, and order conversion.
- Choose an enquiry tool when the need is a product-specific question or call-for-price button and a complete quote basket is unnecessary.
- Shortlist more than one candidate if your store combines self-service pricing with custom product requests; one plugin type may not cover both jobs.
There is no universal winner: the appropriate choice depends on whether the site must calculate a price, collect products for a seller’s response, or simply capture an inquiry.
