The right WordPress real estate plugin depends on whether you need to manage your own listings, show current MLS properties, or do both. A self-hosted listing plugin and an IDX service are different tools: one helps you publish property records you manage; the other connects your site to an MLS feed through a vendor and approved access. Compare the data source, local MLS eligibility, how listings appear on your site, lead workflow, theme fit, and total cost before choosing.

Choose by the job your site needs to do

Real estate sites can need listing management, property search, MLS data, lead capture, CRM tools, and maps. Some products bundle several jobs, but not every plugin does all of them. First decide what information you will publish and how visitors need to find it.

Need Approach What to evaluate
Enter and display a limited set of properties yourself Self-hosted listing plugin Listing fields, search and filters, templates, agent support, and theme compatibility.
Show current properties from a local MLS IDX/MLS service with a WordPress integration Local MLS coverage, membership and approval requirements, fees, setup, and how search and listing pages render.
Combine your own listings with MLS results A listing plugin plus an IDX service, or a platform supporting both Whether data and workflows overlap, how each source is identified, and the cost and maintenance of the complete stack.
Capture and work visitor inquiries Forms, CRM, or built-in lead features Lead routing, saved searches, notifications, CRM integrations, and privacy obligations.

Do not assume that a plugin label alone tells you where listing data lives. Confirm whether properties become WordPress records, appear through embedded or hosted components, or use another method. That affects template control and which pages remain on your site, but it does not by itself establish a particular search-engine outcome. The 2026 WPResidence comparison describes different implementation approaches; verify each vendor’s current setup and SEO claims directly.

Estatik

Estatik is listed in the WordPress.org plugin directory, which records its release history. Estatik’s vendor page describes MLS/IDX import as a Premium feature. Check the current edition boundaries and price with Estatik before deciding; a vendor’s stated feature does not settle local MLS approval or display requirements.

Easy Property Listings

Easy Property Listings appears alongside Estatik as a self-hosted option in the 2026 comparison. Review its current WordPress.org listing for supported features, compatibility information, and release history. The comparison evidence does not establish enough current feature detail to rank it against Estatik.

IDX and MLS options for live listing search

IDX is a service-and-access question as much as a plugin question. A WordPress connector does not guarantee that your MLS participates, that you qualify to display its data, or that your costs stop at the plugin. Confirm coverage, member status, permissions, and all recurring or pass-through fees before implementation.

IMPress for IDX Broker

IMPress for IDX Broker is the WordPress-facing plugin associated with IDX Broker; WordPress.org’s IDX tag directory identifies the consolidated IMPress family. Evaluate IDX Broker’s service, local MLS coverage, setup, and continuing charges separately from the directory plugin listing. The plugin listing is not itself an MLS feed or authorization.

Showcase IDX

Showcase IDX is listed in WordPress.org’s IDX plugin category and appears in 2026 comparisons. Before choosing it, confirm current local coverage and product terms, and establish which features come from the WordPress plugin versus the associated service. The available comparison evidence does not establish a universal coverage or pricing advantage.

Confirm which add-ons, supported feeds, and service terms apply to your market.

MLSImport and iHomefinder

MLSImport and iHomefinder are named as options in the 2026 IDX comparison. The comparison describes MLSImport as a native MLS import path, but current supported markets, fees, and implementation details should be confirmed with the vendor. The same applies to iHomefinder’s current coverage, integration, and pricing. The comparison does not provide sufficient verified detail here to make a feature-by-feature recommendation for either service.

How to compare the options before installing

  1. Inventory what your site already does. Check your real estate theme and existing plugins for listing records, maps, forms, search, and CRM-like features. A theme may already bundle functions a new plugin would duplicate.
  2. Confirm the data and permissions. Ask whether listings are manually entered, imported as WordPress records, or rendered through a hosted or embedded experience. For MLS data, verify local participation, access eligibility, display rules, and any approval process with the vendor and MLS.
  3. Test the visitor and agent workflows. Walk through search filters, property pages, inquiry forms, lead routing, saved searches, notifications, and CRM handoff. Check whether agents can maintain their own records and whether your team can export or manage leads as required.
  4. Check compatibility and ongoing maintenance. Review the plugin’s tested WordPress version, recent release history, support arrangements, and update process. Directory metadata is a changing snapshot, not a guarantee of future compatibility.
  5. Price the complete stack. Include the plugin edition, recurring vendor subscription, MLS or pass-through charges, setup, add-ons, theme, and implementation support. WPResidence’s 2026 comparison reports an MLSImport starting cost of $49/month and a WPResidence theme price of $49/year; these are publisher-reported examples, not independently verified universal prices. Confirm current terms with vendors before budgeting.
  6. Plan for cancellation and data cleanup. Ask what happens to search and listing pages if a paid service ends, which records or settings can be exported, and what must be removed or reconfigured. Imported data does not eliminate MLS data licensing or display rules.

Which approach fits common site types?

Small agency with a curated portfolio

If staff will enter a manageable number of properties and do not need a live MLS search, start with a self-hosted listing plugin. Compare Estatik and Easy Property Listings against the fields, templates, agent workflow, and search experience your site actually needs.

Brokerage that needs current MLS search

Shortlist IDX services only after checking your own MLS’s coverage and eligibility. Then compare the vendor service and its WordPress integration—such as IDX Broker with IMPress, Showcase IDX, or another supported path—on rendering, lead handling, setup, and total cost.

Site that needs both in-house and MLS properties

Determine whether one platform can handle both sources or whether you need separate listing and IDX components. Make sure visitors can distinguish your own listings from MLS results and that agents understand which system controls updates. Avoid paying for overlapping search, map, or lead tools already supplied by the theme or another plugin.

What to verify because features and terms change

  • Local MLS support, display authorization, member requirements, and approval steps.
  • Which features belong to the free plugin, a paid edition, an add-on, or a hosted service.
  • Where listing pages render and what remains on your WordPress site if a subscription ends.
  • Current pricing, setup charges, pass-through MLS fees, and renewal terms.
  • Recent updates, supported WordPress versions, support availability, and export or cleanup options.
