Recommended Free Tools
WP Job Manager is the best default for a public, searchable or multi-employer job board. Its free core covers listings, filters, employer submissions, dashboards, RSS and Google Job Schema; you add applications, resumes, paid listings and alerts as needed. For a single company careers page, Simple Job Board or HireZoot/WP Job Openings is usually simpler. Choose Jobify or WorkScout only when you want a predesigned WP Job Manager site, and consider WPJobBoard when built-in import/export is more important than the WP Job Manager ecosystem.
Choose by the kind of board you are building
Public marketplace, agency or multi-employer board
Start with WP Job Manager. The free plugin provides searchable and filterable listings, frontend employer submission and management, location and category taxonomies, RSS feeds, standalone listing pages, a jobs dashboard, application links and Google Job Schema. Its 70,000-plus active installations listed by WordPress.org in 2026 also make it the broadest-maintained ecosystem among these choices.
One company’s careers page
Use Simple Job Board if every vacancy needs its own application form and a lightweight taxonomy structure. HireZoot, formerly presented as WP Job Openings, is another focused single-employer option with a recruitment-oriented workflow rather than a public marketplace model.
Ready-made visual design
Jobify and WorkScout are themes built around WP Job Manager. They can shorten design work, but they do not replace the plugin, its add-ons or the maintenance responsibility created by two related products.

Import/export first
Evaluate WPJobBoard when an all-in-one paid product with its own import/export tools is more valuable than access to WP Job Manager’s add-on ecosystem. Confirm the exact XML or CSV formats it accepts before purchase.

What WP Job Manager gives you—and what it does not
Free core
WP Job Manager’s free core is enough to publish a conventional board: visitors can search and filter jobs, employers can submit and manage listings from the frontend, and each listing can expose a location, category and other taxonomy fields. RSS feeds, standalone listing pages, a jobs dashboard, email or link-based apply options and Google Job Schema are included.
Add-on decisions
Applications, resume collection, paid listings and job alerts are advanced functions rather than assumptions about the core plugin. Price the specific add-ons your workflow needs before choosing it; the official site displayed a core add-on bundle at $159 per year in 2026, but displayed prices can change.

Why it suits agencies
Its frontend employer workflow and extensible taxonomies can support several hiring organizations without forcing every employer into the WordPress administrator. That flexibility also means more configuration, testing and update work than a single-company plugin.

Simple Job Board
Choose Simple Job Board when the central requirement is a clean careers page with a separate application form for each vacancy. It avoids assembling a full public-marketplace stack when you do not need employer accounts, paid submissions or a large add-on catalogue. WordPress.org listed more than 10,000 active installations in 2026.
HireZoot / WP Job Openings
HireZoot is aimed at a single organization’s recruitment pages. It is a better starting point than a marketplace plugin when one employer controls all openings and the site needs a recruitment presentation rather than self-service employer listings. WordPress.org listed more than 30,000 active installations for HireZoot in 2026. Check the current product name, included integrations and resume workflow before migrating from an older WP Job Openings installation.
WPJobBoard for an all-in-one commercial stack
WPJobBoard is worth shortlisting if you want applications, resumes and paid listings in one paid product and prefer its own import/export workflow. JobsPipe describes import/export tooling, but the available evidence does not establish every supported feed format, scheduling option or current price. Obtain those details—especially XML namespaces, CSV field mapping, recurring imports and duplicate handling—before committing.
Jobify, WorkScout and other WP Job Manager themes
Jobify and WorkScout provide a ready-made board layout while relying on WP Job Manager underneath. The official catalog displayed Jobify at $69 and WorkScout at $79 in 2026. The same catalog lists other compatible designs, including Jobhunt, Jobseek, JobCareer, Specialty and Prime Jobs.
A theme license does not include every plugin capability. Budget separately for WP Job Manager add-ons, hosting, updates and any custom styling. Compatibility can change after WordPress, PHP, page-builder or plugin releases; the catalog also notes that its earlier third-party audit is not currently running. Before buying, check the theme’s current tested WordPress version, PHP requirements, builder integration, update cadence, support period and refund terms.

WP Job Manager route
WP Job Manager has no native importer. JobsPipe points to WP All Import with its WP Job Manager add-on, or to custom import code. Plan the mapping for title, description, employer, location, category, application URL, expiry date and taxonomy terms, then decide how updates, deletions, duplicate records and failed records will be handled. The importer becomes part of your maintenance budget.
WPJobBoard route
WPJobBoard is described as having its own import/export tools, which can reduce the number of components in a feed pipeline. Verify whether your supplier’s XML or CSV schema is supported and whether imports can run on a schedule before treating this as a decisive advantage.
Indeed and “backfill” claims
Treat Indeed backfill settings as legacy unless you independently confirm availability. JobsPipe reports that Indeed’s publisher program is no longer open to new publishers, so an old plugin setting is not proof that a new site can receive Indeed jobs.

How to budget total ownership
- Core software: WP Job Manager itself is free; Simple Job Board and HireZoot have their own licensing and feature terms.
- Capability add-ons: Add applications, resumes, paid listings or alerts only where your workflow requires them.
- Design: Add the theme license if you select Jobify, WorkScout or another commercial design.
- Data operations: Include WP All Import and its WP Job Manager add-on, custom importer development or WPJobBoard feed tooling.
- Infrastructure: Account for hosting, backups, email delivery, spam protection and staging for updates.
- Maintenance: Reserve time to test submissions, applications, schema, feeds and employer permissions after every major update.
Maintenance checks for a 2026 launch
WordPress.org lists WP Job Manager 2.4.4, released June 24, 2026, which restored frontend styles and scripts missing from 2.4.3, followed by 2.4.5 on July 1, 2026, with URL-escaping and attachment-ownership fixes. Those changes illustrate why a staging copy and regression checklist matter even when a theme appears visually unchanged.
Quick Recap
- Confirm the plugin, theme and page builder support your installed WordPress and PHP versions.
- Test employer submission, editing, expiry and deletion from a non-administrator account.
- Submit an application and verify that the configured email or external application link works.
- Inspect a job page for Google Job Schema, canonical URLs and correct location and category data.
- Run an import on staging, compare updated and removed records, and review logs before production.
- Recheck licensing, support and refund terms before each renewal; prices and compatibility are not permanent.
Practical recommendations
- Choose WP Job Manager for a flexible public board, agency site or marketplace where you may add employers, applications, resumes, paid listings or alerts over time.
- Choose Simple Job Board for a straightforward company careers page centered on per-job forms.
- Choose HireZoot/WP Job Openings when one employer owns the recruitment process and does not need a public marketplace.
- Choose Jobify or WorkScout when a prebuilt WP Job Manager design saves enough implementation time to justify another update dependency.
- Choose WPJobBoard when an all-in-one paid feature set and native import/export outweigh the WP Job Manager ecosystem.
