For a WooCommerce store, choose an order-document extension that generates invoices, packing slips, credit notes or e-invoices from orders. These are different workflows, so there is no single best plugin for everyone.

Sprout Invoices: best for freelancers and agencies
Sprout Invoices is designed as a standalone client-invoicing system. Choose it when your process starts with a quote or estimate and ends with a client payment, rather than with a WooCommerce order. Check the current Pro feature list, gateway availability and plan limits before purchase.

WP Overnight’s plugin is aimed at WooCommerce order documents. Prices and included features can change, so confirm the amount, renewal terms and currency in your region before checkout. This is the strongest fit when warehouse and tax-document operations matter as much as the invoice itself.
WPKoders PDF Invoice, Packing Slips & Credit Notes: WooCommerce alternative
A separate WooCommerce Marketplace listing describes automatic PDF invoices, packing slips and credit notes, email attachments, customer downloads, branding and templates, and customizable numbering. It listed a one-year plan at $59 when reviewed. Because the listing did not establish the viewer’s currency or regional pricing, verify the live amount and renewal terms before treating it as a budget comparison.

What to check before installing
Confirm the document your tax authority requires
A plugin’s tax fields or XML output do not by themselves make your invoices legally compliant. Confirm required business identifiers, tax wording, numbering rules, language, retention and e-invoice network or format requirements for your jurisdiction with an accountant or the relevant authority.
Map paid dependencies
Write down every required document and workflow, then mark whether it is in the free core, a paid extension or a higher plan. This avoids selecting a plugin whose listing sounds complete but requires several add-ons.

Check compatibility on your own stack
- Record your WordPress and WooCommerce versions, active theme and checkout, email and payment extensions.
- Check the plugin’s current tested-version information and changelog.
- For WooCommerce stores, confirm support for your order-storage configuration, including HPOS if enabled.
- Test PDF generation, email attachments, customer-account downloads and numbering in a staging site.
Validate localization and data handling
Check currency, language, RTL support, date and decimal formats, VAT or sales-tax fields, address layouts and whether your required e-invoice format is actually supported. Review where generated documents and client data are stored, especially when cloud-upload extensions are enabled.
