Start with the WordPress Jobs board for WordPress-focused listings. Add WPJobs.com as another specialist source. If you want freelance client projects rather than a conventional job posting, consider Toptal, a talent network with a selection model. Each route serves a different kind of search, and vacancies can change quickly: check the live listing, location rules and application link before applying.
Which WordPress developer job sites should you use?
There is no single best site for every candidate. These options differ in how WordPress-focused they are and how candidates connect with employers or clients.
| Site | Best fit | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress Jobs | Developers seeking WordPress-related postings | The official WordPress Jobs board covers development and other ecosystem work. Filter for development: not every listing is a developer role, and a visible post may no longer be open. |
| WPJobs.com | Developers looking for another specialist listings source | Its listings include WordPress developer roles and may show location, employment type and compensation. Check each post’s age and current status; it is a directory, not an endorsement or guarantee of an opening. |
| Toptal | Freelancers seeking client projects | This is a talent network, not an open job board. Consider it if you are comfortable with a selection model; current acceptance criteria and time to receive work are not established on the linked opportunity page. |
| General professional networks, remote-job boards and job aggregators | Searchers open to broader full-time or contract roles | Search for WordPress within wider PHP, web engineering or content-platform roles. These are useful search channels, but current listings on any particular general site are not verified here. |
The WordPress Jobs board describes itself as a source of WordPress-related postings and displays categories including development, support, design, performance and plugin development. Its listings are relevant to the ecosystem, but the category and live status of each vacancy still matter. See the board and its candidate FAQ for current guidance.
WPJobs.com offers a second specialist directory. Its indexed listings included developer roles with details such as location, employment type and compensation, but those details are not a substitute for checking the live posting. Toptal’s WordPress page describes remote freelance client opportunities and support for talent choosing work; it does not make the network equivalent to browsing an unrestricted vacancy board.

How to choose the right site for your search
Compare opportunities by the actual work and hiring route, not just by the site’s label. The following checks help distinguish a suitable opening from a poor fit.
- Engagement: Is it an employee position, a fixed-term contract or a freelance project?
- Specialization: Does the source focus on WordPress, or is WordPress one skill within a broader web-development role?
- Geography: Confirm eligible countries, time-zone overlap and whether “remote” means worldwide or only remote within a specific region.
- Freshness: Look for the original posting date and verify the employer is still accepting applications.
- Transparency: Check for salary or rate, project scope, seniority, hours and the name of the hiring organization.
- Application model: Establish whether you apply directly, submit a marketplace proposal or first pass through network screening.
Platform choice can also depend on budget, project complexity and whether the need is freelance, agency or full-time, as discussed in HostArmada’s 2026 comparison of platforms for hiring WordPress developers. That comparison is a secondary perspective, not an outcome-based ranking of job sites for candidates.

Search terms that uncover different kinds of roles
Use focused alerts on specialist boards and broader job platforms. Try queries such as:
- “WordPress developer”
- “WordPress engineer”
- “WooCommerce developer”
- “Gutenberg developer”
- “PHP WordPress”
These terms can help surface distinct specialties and adjacent roles; they are search suggestions, not evidence that a matching vacancy is currently open. Review the posting itself to confirm the required skills and employment arrangement.

How to verify a listing before applying
- Open the live posting: Do not rely on an old search result or a listing preview alone.
- Check the date and status: Confirm it is recent enough to pursue and that applications are still being accepted.
- Read location and time-zone terms: A remote label does not establish that applicants from your country are eligible.
- Confirm the work and pay details: Look for scope, seniority, hours, and compensation or a clear explanation of when those are shared.
- Follow the stated application route: Verify whether the employer accepts direct applications or whether the platform requires a proposal or screening step.
No site guarantees an interview, an offer or a steady flow of work. Treat a directory as a way to find leads, then assess the employer, opportunity and application process individually.
