The best WordPress conditional logic plugin depends on what you want to control. For approachable forms, start with WPForms; for advanced workflows and integrations, compare Gravity Forms and Formidable Forms. For Gutenberg content visibility, use Conditional Blocks. For conditional WooCommerce product options, consider YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons & Extra Options.

What conditional logic does in WordPress

Conditional logic changes what a visitor sees or what the site does based on a rule—for example, an answer in a form, a visitor’s login status, or a selected product option. It can show fields based on answers, reveal a content block to a particular audience, or route a form submission to a different notification.

The target matters: a form plugin is not automatically the right tool for conditional Gutenberg blocks, and a product-options extension is not a general-purpose form builder. Choose by the object and workflow you need to control, not just by the phrase “conditional logic.”

Which plugin should you choose?

Choose WPForms for approachable smart forms

WPForms is a practical choice for conventional contact, lead-generation and survey forms when the person maintaining the form benefits from a straightforward builder. Its documentation covers changing what users see and which notification email is sent, and explains combining conditions with AND/OR logic. Confirm that the license you plan to buy includes conditional logic; the feature is paid in the current product line.

Choose Gravity Forms for broader conditional workflows

Gravity Forms suits forms where the rule may affect more than field visibility. Its official feature description includes showing or hiding fields, selecting notifications and confirmations, and triggering integrations based on user interactions. It is a strong candidate when a form is part of a payment, CRM or other integrated workflow. Check which add-ons your planned workflow requires and whether they are included in the license tier you select.

Choose Formidable Forms for calculations and data-heavy processes

Formidable Forms is worth comparing when the form also needs calculations, stored entries, views or multi-step data collection. WPBeginner’s January 12, 2026 roundup highlights it for advanced calculators and multi-step forms; the official Pro pricing page lists conditional logic. Its listed $39.50/year starting price is an introductory figure, not a safe assumption about renewal cost: the official page says introductory pricing renews at full price.

Choose Conditional Blocks for Gutenberg visibility rules

Conditional Blocks is a content-visibility tool, not a replacement for a full form builder. The WordPress.org listing describes controlling the visibility of Gutenberg blocks with display logic. Its free conditions include lockdown, logged-in/logged-out status and responsive breakpoints. Pro adds conditions for audience targeting—including geolocation, roles, device/browser and referrer—as well as scheduling, WooCommerce and membership integrations, AND/OR groups and custom PHP logic.

Choose YITH for conditional WooCommerce product options

If the rule belongs to a product configuration—such as which extra fields or options appear while a customer configures a WooCommerce item—YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons & Extra Options is the niche match in this shortlist. It is not the general-purpose choice for conditional form fields across a site. Confirm that its current feature set fits the particular product-option rules you need.

Other plugins fit only specific conditional targets

Several other tools appear in WordPress conditional-logic roundups, but they solve narrower problems rather than replacing a general form builder:

  • OptinMonster: display-rule popups.
  • Thrive Quizzes: branching quizzes.
  • If Menu: menu visibility.
  • FunnelKit: conditional funnel steps.

Choose one of these only if its specific target matches your project. They should not be ranked as general-purpose form builders merely because they use rules to decide what appears next.

How to compare plugins for your project

  1. Identify the target. Decide whether rules should affect individual fields, whole sections, notifications, confirmations, integrations, Gutenberg blocks, product options or funnel steps.
  2. Map the rule complexity. Write down whether a single answer is enough, whether conditions must be combined with AND/OR, or whether you need calculations and branching across multiple steps.
  3. List workflow requirements. Include payments, CRM connections, webhooks, quizzes, saved entries, views and multi-step forms if they are part of the job. Check whether each required integration or add-on is available in the intended license tier.
  4. Check compatibility with your stack. Match the tool to the editor and products you use, such as Gutenberg, WooCommerce, a membership plugin or a CRM. A block-visibility plugin and a form builder address different parts of that stack.
  5. Compare the full commercial terms. Verify free-feature limits, site count, license tier, add-on dependencies, introductory versus renewal pricing and support terms on the vendor’s current pages before purchase.
  6. Review how the rules will be maintained. Prefer rules that another site administrator can understand and debug. For large forms or complicated displays, plan to test every relevant path, including combinations where no conditional field should appear.

Test conditional logic before publishing

A form that looks correct in the builder can still have a missing or conflicting rule. Test it as a visitor, using the actual front-end form or page rather than relying only on the editor preview.

  • Try each answer that should reveal or hide a field, section or block.
  • Test combined conditions, including cases where one condition is true and another is false.
  • Check the submission result: notification recipient, confirmation and any connected integration that the workflow depends on.
  • For audience or device rules, test the relevant logged-in state, role, viewport or other audience condition.
  • Make sure the form remains understandable when a conditional field is hidden, and that visitors can still complete the intended task.

These checks are especially useful when several rules interact. Keep the rule names and conditions readable so future editors can tell why a field or block appears.

Bottom line by use case

  • Routine smart forms: WPForms.
  • Advanced integrations and conditional actions: Gravity Forms.
  • Calculators, entries, views and multi-step forms: Formidable Forms.
  • Conditional Gutenberg blocks and site content: Conditional Blocks.
  • Conditional WooCommerce product options: YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons & Extra Options.

There is no universal best WordPress conditional logic plugin: the right choice is the one that controls the right target, supports the required rule depth and integrations, and remains affordable and maintainable at the license tier you need.
