What a WooCommerce sliding side cart does
A sliding side cart—also called a WooCommerce side cart, floating cart or cart drawer—keeps cart contents available without sending shoppers to a separate cart page. Depending on the plugin, shoppers may edit quantities, remove products, enter coupons, see totals, receive upsells or progress toward a reward, then continue to cart or checkout.
These behaviors are configuration and compatibility questions, not guaranteed conversion improvements. The available material contains no neutral, controlled study proving that any listed plugin increases revenue or is faster than another.

FunnelKit’s listing describes an always-accessible cart icon and a mini cart where customers can change quantities or remove items. It also documents coupon entry, AJAX add and update behavior, visual customization, upsells and rewards.
Its documentation covers cart visibility and position, automatic opening, the coupon field, cart summary, checkout section, styling, menu placement and analytics. That makes it a practical candidate when the drawer itself is part of a merchandising plan. The documentation is a feature statement, not an independent test of speed, conversion or compatibility.

Check before choosing it
- Whether automatic opening suits your theme and add-to-cart flow.
- How its cart and checkout sections interact with your payment, subscription and discount extensions.
- Whether the current release supports your WordPress and WooCommerce versions.
- Which upsell, reward and analytics functions are included in the current plan.
Caddy and XT Floating Cart: directory alternatives
The WordPress.org side-cart directories list Caddy – WooCommerce Side Cart & Free Shipping Bar and XT Floating Cart for WooCommerce among other choices. Caddy’s listing describes a side or mini cart, a shipping bar, upsells and save-for-later. XT is described as a floating or side cart.
WordPress.org snapshots cited for this comparison showed more than 3,000 active installations for Caddy and more than 4,000 for XT Floating Cart. Those are mutable, platform-reported directory figures captured at different times—not synchronized adoption measurements and not evidence of performance, support or compatibility. Recheck the live listings before publication or installation.

Side Cart & Checkout for WooCommerce: control over the purchase path
WooCommerce documentation describes two presentation choices: a side panel and a centered popup. It also lists automatic opening after add-to-cart, an option to open checkout, controls to skip or replace the cart page, mobile visibility, animation and button settings, plus configurable cart contents.
This option is worth investigating when the key requirement is changing the path from product to cart or checkout. The retrieved documentation does not state a current price or guarantee availability in every region, so verify both on the live product page.

CartFlows Modern Cart: a suite-based choice
CartFlows presents Modern Cart as a slide-out or popup cart with in-cart upsells. Because it is shown as one component of the wider CartFlows suite, compare the current package contents, licensing and renewal terms with a dedicated side-cart plugin. Treat the vendor’s feature description as promotional documentation rather than independent comparative evidence.

That status makes it unsuitable as a general new-store recommendation based on the available evidence. Existing users should confirm that their installed version still works with their current WordPress, WooCommerce, theme and extension stack before making changes.
How to choose a side cart for your store
1. Decide how the cart should open
- Manual drawer: shoppers open it from a persistent floating trigger.
- Automatic drawer: it opens after an add-to-cart action; test whether this interrupts browsing.
- Popup: useful when a centered confirmation is preferable to a persistent panel.
- Cart bypass: relevant if you want shoppers to go directly from product to checkout.
2. Match the editing tools to your catalog
- Quantity changes and item removal for multi-item orders.
- Coupon entry and clear subtotal or cart summaries.
- AJAX updates that do not require a full page reload.
- Mobile layout and touch targets that remain usable on narrow screens.
3. Decide whether merchandising belongs in the drawer
Upsells, cross-sells, shipping-progress bars, rewards and save-for-later can add complexity as well as functionality. Confirm which tools are included in the current version and plan, and test discount, tax, shipping and subscription rules in the drawer.
4. Verify presentation and control
- Theme styling, colors, typography and trigger placement.
- Language and label settings for your market.
- Controls to disable automatic opening or hide the cart on selected devices.
- Analytics behavior that does not double-count cart or checkout events.
5. Test the entire store stack
- Record your WordPress and WooCommerce versions and confirm the plugin’s tested versions on its current listing.
- Test product, variation, bundle, subscription and downloadable-product flows.
- Run coupon, tax, shipping, free-shipping and inventory scenarios.
- Complete payment tests in the drawer, cart and checkout with your live gateway’s test mode.
- Check logged-in and guest users on desktop and mobile.
- Review browser-console errors, caching behavior and AJAX requests after enabling optimization or translation plugins.
- Keep a rollback plan: backup the site, document settings and stage the change before production.
What installation counts can—and cannot—tell you
WordPress.org directory snapshots included more than 30,000 active installations for FunnelKit Cart, more than 3,000 for Caddy and more than 4,000 for XT Floating Cart. The snapshots were captured at different times and can change continuously. They are useful as rough adoption signals, but they do not prove speed, conversion, support quality, security or compatibility with your store.
