A Lightning receiver does not plug directly into an iPhone 15. RØDE says its Lightning Wireless Micro kit may work with a USB-C device through Apple’s official USB-C-to-Lightning adapter in compatible workflows; third-party adapter compatibility is not guaranteed. Buying the correct USB-C version is generally the simpler option. Likewise, a generic Lightning charging cable may not carry microphone audio: some RØDE USB-C receivers require an appropriate MFi-certified cable, such as its supported SC15/SC19 connection path. Verify the connector variant and included transmitter count. 6. Hollyland LARK MAX 2: best for several speakers
For a panel, classroom, or multi-person podcast, the LARK MAX 2 stands out because Hollyland lists support for up to four transmitters per receiver, 32-bit float recording, AI noise cancellation, and smartphone, camera, and laptop compatibility. 7. RØDE Wireless PRO: best for a wider production setup
If you record on a phone but also use a camera, tablet, or computer, a more configurable system such as the RØDE Wireless PRO may make more sense than a phone-only kit. - Important or paid shoots: onboard transmitter recording is a valuable safety net. A 32-bit float file can make level problems more recoverable, but it cannot repair a badly placed mic, severe distortion before conversion, wind blast, or poor room acoustics.

Noise cancellation can reduce some environmental sound, but it may also alter vocal tone and cannot eliminate every noise. A close, unobstructed mic and a quieter location often matter more. Connect and test it before recording

Troubleshooting common problems
The phone records from its built-in microphone

- Disconnect the receiver and force-close the recording app.
- Reconnect the receiver, power the transmitter and receiver, and confirm pairing.

Move the mic closer, keep the capsule unobstructed, and increase gain gradually while checking for clipping. A transmitter hidden under thick clothing or facing away from the speaker may capture a weak voice. Confirm the app is using the receiver and not applying its own input setting.
The wireless signal drops out
Reduce distance, avoid walls and body obstruction, and keep the receiver from being blocked behind the phone or a metal rig. Check charge and make sure the connector is secure. For important shoots, enable onboard transmitter recording and make a continuous test in the actual location; maximum range claims do not predict performance in a crowded room.

Wind or clothing noise overwhelms speech
Use foam indoors when there is movement and a furry windshield outdoors. Do not pin the capsule against a collar, necklace, jacket, or hair. A wired lavalier can help when the transmitter’s built-in mic cannot be positioned cleanly. Noise cancellation cannot reliably repair hard fabric rubbing or wind hitting the capsule directly.
The receiver blocks charging

Apps can differ in external-input support, mono or stereo handling, monitoring, and built-in noise processing. A receiver lighting up does not prove that the app is recording from it.
