For most standard Galaxy S23 owners, the Spigen Liquid Air is the best thin case overall: its textured TPU design balances a pocket-friendly profile with useful grip and more edge cushioning than a minimalist hard shell. Choose the Spigen Thin Fit if keeping bulk to a minimum matters more than grip or impact protection; choose the Ringke Onyx for a grippy, lower-cost alternative.
This guide is about the standard Galaxy S23, not the S23+, S23 Ultra, or S23 FE. It preserves the 2023 buying-guide context; prices, colors, stock, and support may have changed since then.

A useful thin case adds little bulk to the compact 6.1-inch S23, fits easily in a pocket, and leaves the buttons, USB-C port, speakers, and cameras usable. It should also provide at least basic scratch protection and some coverage around the phone’s edges. A thin case can still feel slippery, obstruct a screen protector, or leave the camera exposed, so thickness alone is a poor way to choose.

- Slim everyday case: Adds a flexible bumper, raised edges, or corner coverage while remaining pocketable. This is the best category for most people.
- Slim protective case: More substantial, often with stronger bumpers, but still less bulky than a rugged case.
- Premium thin case: Uses materials such as leather or aramid fiber for appearance and feel. The higher price does not necessarily buy better impact protection.
Weight, raised camera frames, front lips, grip texture, and magnetic rings all change the handling and effective bulk. A product listing’s overall dimensions are not the same thing as its wall thickness: for example, Spigen lists the Thin Fit’s product dimensions and weight, but those dimensions should not be treated as a comparable case-thickness measurement.
Best thin Galaxy S23 cases
Spigen Liquid Air — best overall
Best for: Owners who want a slim daily case without choosing the least protective option.
The Liquid Air’s flexible TPU body and textured pattern make it a sensible default. Its grip is a meaningful advantage over smoother hard shells, particularly for one-handed use. It adds more substance than a minimalist shell, but that trade-off brings more practical edge and corner coverage while staying far slimmer than a rugged case. Spigen lists the Liquid Air in its Galaxy S23 case collection; third-party coverage has also favored it as a balanced choice for many S23 owners (Android Authority’s case roundup).
Skip it if: You want the flattest possible shell, a transparent case, or a formal leather finish. It is not a rugged case, and its texture may not suit everyone’s taste.
Verdict: The best compromise of pocketability, grip, and everyday coverage in this shortlist. That is an editorial recommendation, not a claim of measured drop-test superiority.
Spigen Thin Fit — best mainstream minimalist option
Best for: People who want a clean, understated case with little visual bulk.
The Thin Fit uses a PC/TPU hybrid construction and a low-profile design. Spigen describes it as having raised edges and Air Cushion technology, and lists wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare compatibility. Treat those as manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of impact survival or compatibility with every charger and accessory. The official Thin Fit listing showed a $29.99 price and a 0.9-ounce weight at the time of research; neither figure is a promise of today’s price or availability.
A slimmer, flatter case generally provides less cushioning than a flexible bumper, and its finish may feel less secure than the Liquid Air’s texture. Spigen’s “mil-grade” language is not equivalent to independent comparative drop testing.
Skip it if: You frequently drop your phone or value a high-grip surface more than a minimal profile.
Verdict: A good pick for careful owners who want a restrained look and basic coverage. It is not automatically the best choice simply because it is called Thin Fit.
Ringke Onyx — best value for grip
Best for: Buyers who want a grippy TPU case without paying a premium for materials or branding.

Ringke describes the Onyx as a slim, lightweight TPU case, with a textured construction intended to improve grip. Its listed price began at $15.99 in the research snapshot, but current pricing, colors, and stock can vary. Check the Ringke Onyx product page for the standard S23 variant.

The look is more rugged than a plain minimalist shell, and it may feel slightly bulkier than the thinnest options. The texture is useful if a smooth case would make you uneasy, but this remains a slim case rather than a substitute for a heavy-duty protective case.
Skip it if: You want a clear, leather, or especially refined-looking case.
Verdict: The practical value alternative when grip matters more than a polished, ultra-minimal appearance.
Ringke Fusion or Fusion Matte — best clear slim case
Best for: Owners who want the S23’s color visible and still want a bumper around the edges.
The Fusion line pairs a transparent back with a flexible edge, offering more useful coverage than a skin-style shell. The matte version gives a less glossy look. Ringke lists Fusion models in its Galaxy S23 collection; select the exact standard-S23 model rather than assuming every listing fits the whole S23 family.
Clear materials can yellow, cloud, collect fingerprints, or show scuffs as they age. A bumper case is also usually bulkier than a hard shell. The magnetic Fusion Matte is a separate choice: its integrated ring can help with magnetic mounts and accessories, but adds hardware and is not the thinnest option.
Skip it if: Discoloration would bother you or your priority is minimum bulk.

Verdict: The straightforward choice for showing off the phone while retaining edge coverage; choose the magnetic version only if you have a real use for the ring.
Samsung Leather Case — best premium slim case
Best for: People who value a first-party fit and a more refined material over bargain pricing or maximum impact protection.
Samsung’s accessory documentation identifies a Leather Cover for the standard Galaxy S23 (model EF-VS911). Leather has a different feel and appearance from TPU, and the case is more pocket-friendly than a rugged design. It can also scratch, discolor, and develop a patina with use. The documentation confirms the accessory existed; it does not establish current regional stock or price.
Skip it if: You want an inexpensive case, dislike the way leather ages, or drop your phone often.

PITAKA MagEZ — best ultra-thin premium feel
Best for: Careful owners who want a rigid, low-bulk aramid-fiber feel and dislike soft TPU.
Aramid-fiber shells appeal to people who want a close-to-bare experience with a premium texture. PITAKA has a Galaxy S23 cases collection, but check the exact model, current stock, and any magnetic features before buying. No comparable thickness, current price, or specific S23 magnetic specification is established here.
Minimal shells often leave more of the edges exposed and provide less raised-lip protection than a bumper case. A magnetic option may be useful for a compatible mount, but the ring or hardware adds bulk and does not make the S23 natively MagSafe-compatible.

- Want the best all-rounder? Start with the Liquid Air: it gives up a little minimalism for texture and a flexible bumper.
- Want a clean, understated case? Choose the Thin Fit if you handle your phone carefully and accept less grip and cushioning.
- Want grip at a lower listed price? Consider the Ringke Onyx, checking current pricing and the exact device version.
- Want to see the phone’s color? Choose a Ringke Fusion or Fusion Matte and accept the risk of clear-case aging.
- Want a magnetic mount? Consider the Ringke Fusion Magnetic Matte or a compatible ring accessory. Magnetic usefulness is not the same as being the thinnest or best choice for wireless charging.
- Want premium material? Samsung Leather is the style pick; PITAKA is the low-bulk aramid option. Neither should be mistaken for a rugged case.
- Drop your phone often? Do not choose a case solely because it is thin. Favor a flexible bumper with corner coverage, such as the Liquid Air or Onyx, or consider a more protective case even if it adds bulk.
Thin cases, drop protection, and camera coverage
The central trade-off is simple: less material generally means less room to absorb impact, especially at the corners. A very thin hard shell can help with scratches and minor scuffs, but it cannot be expected to perform like a rugged case. A flexible TPU bumper can absorb more impact than an ultra-thin one-piece shell, but no slim case can guarantee that a phone will survive a particular fall.
Raised front edges and a camera surround are useful because they keep the screen and protruding rear lenses from resting directly on a flat surface. They do not guarantee survival from a face-down or corner-first impact. Look for a case that surrounds the camera area, raises the perimeter above the lenses, and leaves the flash and autofocus unobstructed. A skin-style shell that leaves the camera nearly flush may be a poor fit if lens protection matters to you.

They describe a company’s design or claimed standard; without comparable independent testing, they do not establish that one thin case outperforms another.
Charging, magnetic mounts, and screen protectors
Wireless charging: A thin, nonmetallic case is generally the sensible starting point for Qi charging, but case shape, materials, charger design, and alignment can affect results. Spigen says the Thin Fit supports wireless charging; check the exact case and charger if reliable charging is important.
Wireless PowerShare: This is reverse wireless charging from the S23. Spigen lists Thin Fit compatibility, but that is not a universal guarantee across pads, devices, and alignments. Metal plates, cards, magnetic rings, and some mounts can interfere, so remove or reposition accessories if charging is unreliable.
Magnetic accessories: The Galaxy S23 does not have the same integrated magnetic accessory system as an iPhone with MagSafe. A case such as the Ringke Fusion Magnetic Matte adds a magnetic ring for MagSafe-style accessories; it does not make the phone natively MagSafe-enabled. Magnetic strength, alignment, case thickness, and wireless charging behavior vary by accessory.

Screen protectors: A modest front lip can help when the phone is placed face down, but an overly tight case can lift a poorly fitted protector, and a tall lip may interfere with some edge-to-edge designs. Check the protector maker’s fit guidance rather than assuming every case and protector combination works.
Before you buy: compatibility checklist
- Select Galaxy S23, not S23+, S23 Ultra, or S23 FE. The models have different dimensions and camera layouts; their cases are not interchangeable. Even listings for an “S23 series” case require selecting the correct variant. See Spigen’s model-separated collection as an example.
- Check camera and port cutouts. Confirm the listing names the standard S23 and leaves the camera, flash, USB-C port, speakers, and buttons accessible.
- Consider your screen protector. Check both manufacturers’ compatibility guidance, especially with edge-to-edge protectors.
- Decide whether you need a magnetic ring. It can help with a mount, but it adds bulk and may affect charging alignment.
- Check local stock, price, and return terms. S23 accessories can remain listed after newer phones launch, but regional availability and colors change.
If you own the S23 Ultra, use a guide for that model instead: its dimensions, camera layout, and S Pen make it a separate case category.
