For most iPhone owners, AirPods Pro 3 are the best Siri-compatible headphones: they support hands-free Siri, noise cancellation, Spatial Audio and Apple features such as notification announcements. If you want over-ear headphones, consider AirPods Max 2 for Apple integration or Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) for a non-Apple design that can call up Siri with a button shortcut. Beats Studio Pro are a useful value and cross-platform option, while Powerbeats Pro 2 are built for workouts.
The key distinction is how Siri starts. Some headphones listen for a wake phrase; others invoke Siri only when you press a control. A Bluetooth connection alone does not mean a headphone offers hands-free Siri or Apple features such as automatic device switching, Find My or Announce Notifications.

Battery figures are manufacturers’ maximum estimates, not directly comparable test results. Over-ear figures refer to headphone use; the AirPods figure is listening time on a charge with ANC enabled, not a charging-case total. Volume, calls, temperature, settings and software can reduce runtime.

AirPods Pro 3 are the clearest recommendation if you want Siri to be part of everyday headphone use rather than a feature you have to configure. They combine hands-free Siri with active noise cancellation, Transparency, Spatial Audio and Apple-device features. Apple advertises up to eight hours of listening with ANC enabled and says the Pro 3 offer up to twice the ANC of AirPods Pro 2; treat that comparison as Apple’s claim, not an independent measurement. Apple also lists hearing and heart-rate-related features for this model. Availability and operation can depend on region, software, device compatibility and applicable requirements, so check Apple’s details rather than assuming every feature is available everywhere. AirPods Pro 2 remain a possible alternative if available, but their features and battery claims differ by model.
Choose them if: you use an iPhone and want small earbuds, noise control and the broadest Apple experience. Skip them if: you dislike sealed in-ear tips, mainly use Android, want over-ear comfort or prioritize long listening between charges.
Best over-ear Apple experience: AirPods Max 2
AirPods Max 2 bring hands-free Siri and Apple integration to an over-ear design. You can also invoke Siri using the Digital Crown. They make sense for listeners who prefer ear cups to earbuds and frequently move among Apple devices.

Over-ear comfort is personal, and weight can matter during long sessions. They are also a premium choice, not automatically the best value or the longest-lasting option. Compare current price, weight and battery specifications on Apple’s AirPods Max page before buying.
Best value and cross-platform over-ear choice: Beats Studio Pro
Beats Studio Pro support “Hey Siri” on Apple devices and offer Apple conveniences including one-touch iCloud pairing and Find My. Beats also lists Android Fast Pair, Audio Switch and Find My Device, making these a stronger fit than AirPods for someone who regularly switches between iPhone and Android. The Android phone uses its own assistant, not Siri.
Beats lists up to 40 hours of listening with ANC off, or up to 24 hours with ANC or Transparency enabled. The headphones also support USB-C lossless audio, but USB-C on a different model should not be assumed to provide digital audio; confirm that feature for the exact product. Studio Pro offer ANC and Transparency, but should not be described as the strongest ANC choice without supporting comparative testing.

Choose them if: you want over-ear headphones, long manufacturer-rated runtime and useful features across Apple and Android. Skip them if: you require the shorter “Siri” wake phrase, the fullest AirPods-style device integration or a model selected specifically for top-tier ANC.
Best for workouts: Powerbeats Pro 2
Powerbeats Pro 2 use ear hooks to stay secure during movement and support hands-free “Siri” or “Hey Siri.” Apple’s Beats guide also describes using the controls to invoke Siri and asking it to start a workout in a named workout app. The model supports head gestures for responding to Siri announcements and heart-rate features for supported workout scenarios. Check the product details and Beats Siri instructions for feature and device requirements.
Ear hooks improve retention but are not for everyone: the earbuds are less low-profile than ordinary buds, and their shape may not suit all ears. Check the model’s specific water-resistance guidance before using it in heavy rain or exposing it to sweat or water; do not infer protection from another Beats product.

Best non-Apple over-ear option for Siri: Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)
Bose’s second-generation QC Ultra headphones can invoke the phone’s voice assistant, including Siri, through a configurable shortcut in the Bose app. This is button-triggered Siri, not AirPods-style wake-word listening. Bose says to configure the shortcut and then press and hold the volume strip to activate the phone assistant. The shortcut is off by default, so set it up before relying on it.
Bose lists up to 30 hours in Quiet or Aware mode and up to 23 hours with Immersive Audio. The headphones offer noise-control modes, EQ and comfort-focused over-ear listening. Bose states that this model has no IP rating and should be kept dry; it is not the pick for wet-weather exercise. Details are on Bose’s product page.
Where Sony WH-1000XM6 fits
Sony WH-1000XM6 are worth considering if sound, noise cancellation and headphone-app customization matter more to you than Apple-specific conveniences. Siri behavior is model- and control-specific: verify Sony’s current instructions for the WH-1000XM6, including the required app setting and control, before buying if assistant access is essential. Do not assume the model has AirPods-like hands-free wake-word activation, automatic Apple-device switching or Announce Notifications. See Sony’s official product page.

What Siri compatibility actually means
- Hands-free wake phrase: You can speak “Siri” or “Hey Siri” without pressing a button. Apple documents wake-word support for current AirPods and Beats models, but the phrase available depends on model, software, language and region. Powerbeats Pro 2 supports either phrase; many other Beats models use “Hey Siri.”
- Button or app shortcut: You press and hold a control to pass your request to Siri on the connected iPhone. Bose QC Ultra 2 is an example. Some Beats models let you assign a control to Siri.
- Bluetooth audio only: Headphones may play iPhone audio and handle calls without providing a dependable assistant trigger or Apple features such as notification announcements, Find My, Spatial Audio or automatic switching.
“Works with iPhone” is not a promise of full Apple integration. For model-specific AirPods and Beats behavior, consult the AirPods guide and Beats guide.
Set up Siri with headphones
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap Siri or Apple Intelligence & Siri, depending on the device and software presentation.
- Tap Talk to Siri or Talk & Type to Siri.
- Choose “Siri” or “Hey Siri”, if offered. The shorter phrase is not available for every model, region or language.
With AirPods
- Wear the AirPods and confirm they are connected to the Apple device you intend to use.
- Say the enabled wake phrase and wait for the response tone before speaking.
- If the wake phrase does not work, use the model’s control: press and hold the stem on AirPods 3, AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro; press and hold the Digital Crown on AirPods Max; or use the configured double-tap on AirPods 1 or 2.
With Beats
- Connect the Beats to the iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch.
- Use “Hey Siri” on supported models; Powerbeats Pro 2 also supports “Siri.” Beats Flex, Beats Solo Buds and Beats Pill use device controls rather than a wake phrase, according to Apple’s Beats guide.
- To assign a supported control on iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap the connected Beats, then choose the left or right control’s Press and Hold action and select Siri. On Mac, open Apple menu → System Settings, select the Beats and assign Siri to the left or right control.
With Bose QC Ultra 2
- Pair the headphones with the phone and open the Bose app.
- Configure the headphone shortcut and select the phone’s voice assistant.
- Press and hold the volume strip to invoke Siri.
For Bose, the shortcut must be configured; it is not equivalent to an always-listening wake phrase.
Calls, notifications and troubleshooting
AirPods can work with Apple’s Announce Calls and Announce Notifications features, but the feature must be enabled and is distinct from ordinary Siri compatibility. Apple lets users choose announcement behavior, including a headphones-only option; Focus settings or notification settings can also prevent an announcement. Review Apple’s AirPods guide for current settings and supported devices. Other headphones may handle calls or offer a voice-assistant shortcut without supporting Apple’s announcement features.

- Siri does not respond: Check that Siri is enabled on the iPhone, the headphones are connected (not merely paired), and the correct wake phrase or control is being used.
- The wake phrase is unreliable: Background noise can interfere. Try the physical control instead.
- The wrong device answers: Confirm which Apple device is connected and active; another nearby device may respond.
- Notifications are not announced: Check Announce Notifications, the headphones-only choice if desired, and Focus settings.
- Siri speaks through the phone: Check the active audio connection and output device, then reconnect the headphones if needed.
Siri availability and some features vary by language, country, device and software. Apple’s current AirPods documentation specifies support with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 or later for the covered functions; verify compatibility for your own device and model.
Do AirPods and Siri headphones work with Android?
AirPods can pair with Android over Bluetooth for audio and calls, but much of their Apple-specific experience is curtailed. Siri is Apple’s assistant, so an Android phone will use its own supported assistant rather than Siri. Beats Studio Pro are a better bet for mixed-platform households because Beats lists both Apple and Android pairing features, though the assistant changes with the connected phone.
Which should you choose?
- Want the simplest, fullest iPhone experience? AirPods Pro 3.
- Want over-ear headphones and Apple integration? AirPods Max 2.
- Want over-ear headphones that make sense across iPhone and Android? Beats Studio Pro.
- Run or train and need a secure fit? Powerbeats Pro 2.
- Want non-Apple over-ear ANC and can accept a button shortcut for Siri? Bose QC Ultra 2.
- Prioritize sound and ANC over Apple ecosystem features? Compare Sony WH-1000XM6 and Bose QC Ultra 2, and check the exact Siri control for the model you choose.
