The Steam Summer Sale 2025 ran from June 26 through July 10, 2025, so its prices are no longer live. This retrospective highlights the Mac games reported on sale during that event and helps you choose by genre and hardware. The prices below are historical snapshots reported on July 4, 2025—not current offers. Before buying, check the game’s live Steam listing for today’s price, macOS support and requirements.
For this list, “Mac game” means a title reported as having a native macOS version—not simply a Windows game discounted on Steam. System requirements are listed requirements, not a promise of smooth performance on every Mac.

These are editorial picks, not performance rankings. The sale dates are confirmed in Steam’s archived announcement; the prices and requirements below are the contemporaneous figures reported by AppleInsider on July 4, 2025.
Best Mac games from the 2025 sale, by type
Baldur’s Gate 3 — best overall for an eligible Mac
A strong all-round pick if you want a long-form RPG built around party-based combat, exploration and consequential choices. The trade-off is its substantial hardware and storage demand: the reported requirements were macOS 14.7.1 or later, Apple M1 or newer, 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB recommended) and 150 GB of storage. Its reported sale price was $47.99.

Best for: Apple Silicon owners with recent macOS, sufficient free space and an appetite for a large RPG. Skip or investigate carefully if: you have an Intel Mac, limited storage or only 8 GB RAM and expect comfortable headroom. A stated minimum is not a performance guarantee.
Firewatch — best inexpensive story experience
This short, atmospheric mystery is the most straightforward value pick for someone who wants a focused single-player experience rather than a sprawling game. Its reported sale price was $3.99, down from $19.99. The listed requirements were macOS 10.8 or later, 6 GB RAM and 4 GB storage.
Best for: story-first play and a modest download. Older listed OS requirements do not by themselves verify compatibility with a current macOS release or Apple Silicon; check the live listing and recent Mac-specific reviews.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII — best modern grand strategy
Choose this for turn-based empire-building and a potentially long-running strategy commitment. The reported base-game sale price was $59.49; the Deluxe Edition was reported at $84.99. The listed requirements were macOS Sequoia or later, 8 GB RAM and 25 GB storage.
Best for: players already on a compatible recent Mac who specifically want the newest Civilization entry. The discount was only 15% in the reported snapshot, so compare the present price and editions rather than assuming the Deluxe Edition is the best value. Check what extra content an edition includes before paying for it.
Oxygen Not Included — best colony simulator value
This is a systems-heavy colony simulation about keeping a settlement functioning as resources, infrastructure and environmental problems interact. It was reported at $7.49, with listed requirements of macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later, 4 GB RAM and 2 GB storage.
Best for: players who enjoy planning, automation and learning interlocking systems. The relatively light listed requirements do not ensure that a large, late-game colony will perform identically to a fresh save.

Cities: Skylines — best for city-building
For players who want to lay out and manage a city, Cities: Skylines was reported at $8.99, 70% off. Its listed requirements were macOS 10.11 or later, 6 GB RAM and 4 GB storage.
Best for: urban-planning fans willing to spend time building and refining a city. Large populations, expansions and mods can make the workload very different from the minimum requirements; don’t treat the low listed storage or old OS floor as evidence that every Mac will handle a large city well.
Lies of P — best demanding action pick
This single-player Souls-like was reported at $29.99, half off. The listed requirements were macOS Ventura 13.0 or later, Apple Silicon, 8 GB RAM and 50 GB storage.
Best for: Apple Silicon owners who want challenging action and meet the stated requirements. It is not a general recommendation for Intel Macs, and the minimum specification is not a frame-rate or quality guarantee.
Dave the Diver — best management-and-exploration mix
Dave the Diver pairs underwater exploration with running a restaurant. Its reported sale price was $11.99; listed requirements were macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, 8 GB RAM and 11 GB storage.
Best for: someone seeking a distinctive management hybrid rather than a single-genre action or strategy game. Confirm current Mac support on the Steam page before purchase, especially if you rely on a particular OS or processor architecture.
Broforce — best cheap retro action
Broforce offers fast, deliberately over-the-top retro action and was reported at $2.99, 80% off. Its listed requirements were macOS 10.6 or later, 8 GB RAM and 150 MB storage.

Best for: players looking for inexpensive action, including those interested in local multiplayer. Check the current listing for the specific controller and multiplayer details you need; platform support alone does not establish that every mode or setup works as expected.

This run-based game combines dice combat with deckbuilding. It was reported at $5.84, 55% off, with listed requirements of Mac OS X 10.6 or later, 1 GB RAM and 300 MB storage.
Best for: players curious about a compact, unconventional strategy-roguelike. Because the reported minimum is very old, verify that the current build still lists macOS support and suits your specific system.
Ogre — best niche tactical strategy bargain
Ogre is a hex-based tactical combat game with scenario creation. The reported sale price was $2.49, 90% off; listed requirements were OS X Yosemite or later, 4 GB RAM and 1 GB storage.
Best for: readers who already like hex-based tactics or want to explore that niche cheaply. Its low price does not make it a universal strategy recommendation.
Which picks make sense for your Mac?
Older Intel Macs
Firewatch, Broforce, Ogre, Cities: Skylines and Oxygen Not Included had older minimum OS requirements in the 2025 report, making them candidates to investigate—not guaranteed recommendations for every Intel Mac. Graphics capability, memory, thermals and the current game build matter. Baldur’s Gate 3 and Lies of P were reported with explicit Apple Silicon requirements, so they are not suitable choices for an Intel Mac on that evidence.
Apple Silicon Macs
For lighter-looking options, consider Firewatch, Broforce, Oxygen Not Included, Dave the Diver or Dice & Fold after checking the current listing. For more demanding games, Baldur’s Gate 3, Lies of P and Civilization VII are the standouts, but their OS, architecture, memory and storage requirements differ. “Apple Silicon” alone does not mean every model will provide the same experience.

Macs with 8 GB RAM
Several listed minimums are 8 GB, including Baldur’s Gate 3, Lies of P, Civilization VII, Dave the Diver and Broforce. A minimum requirement only describes the stated threshold; it does not account for other apps, demanding saves or a desire for more performance headroom. Baldur’s Gate 3’s reported 16 GB recommended figure is especially worth noting.
Macs with 256 GB storage
Think carefully before installing Baldur’s Gate 3: its reported storage requirement was 150 GB, leaving less room for macOS, applications, updates and personal files on a 256 GB drive. Other reported footprints were substantially smaller, from 150 MB for Broforce to 50 GB for Lies of P. Leave space beyond the listed game size for updates and normal system use.

Don’t confuse a Steam discount with Mac support
A game appearing in a Steam sale does not mean its Mac version is available. For example, AppleInsider’s July 2025 roundup included Cyberpunk 2077 while noting that it was not then available for macOS. It was therefore not a native Mac game you could buy and play on macOS at that time, and it does not belong among the native Mac picks above.
Compatibility layers and cloud streaming may offer indirect ways to play some Windows games, but they are separate from native Mac support and bring their own setup, performance, service and compatibility trade-offs. Don’t buy a Windows-only Steam game on the assumption that a workaround will work for your Mac.

- macOS support: confirm the listing explicitly supports macOS, rather than just Windows.
- Architecture: check whether the listing specifies Intel, Apple Silicon or both. Don’t infer Apple Silicon support from a macOS label alone.
- Operating-system version: compare the stated minimum with the macOS version on your Mac. An old minimum requirement may not reflect how the latest game build behaves today.
- RAM and storage: check the listed minimum and recommended memory where available, and make sure you have more free disk space than the nominal install size if updates or other files need room.
- Recent Mac-specific feedback: read recent reviews for mentions of Mac launch problems, updates and performance. User reports are useful clues, not controlled tests.
- Modes and accessories: if multiplayer, cross-play, a controller or keyboard and mouse matters to you, verify that exact feature for the Mac version.
- Price and edition: check the live price, included DLC and contents of each edition. A discount from 2025 is not still available just because it appears in a historical guide.
- Refund terms: consult Steam’s current refund policy and the product’s current terms before purchasing; don’t rely on old sale coverage for today’s rules.
