The best ergonomic mouse for most right-handed office users is the Logitech MX Master 4. Choose the Logitech Lift if you want a vertical design, the Logitech MX Vertical for larger hands, or the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical if gaming matters. There is no universal winner: hand size, handedness, grip, software restrictions, and workload matter more than the word “ergonomic” on the box.

Best overall: Logitech MX Master 4
The MX Master 4 is the strongest default choice if you want a familiar, palm-supporting shape rather than a vertical mouse. Its sculpted right-handed body, thumb rest, dual scroll wheels, and productivity-focused controls suit documents, spreadsheets, browsing, and creative applications.
It weighs 151.8g, so it feels stable but can become tiring if you frequently lift and reposition it. It is also unsuitable for left-handed users. RTINGS reports a 125Hz polling limit, which is adequate for ordinary work but less attractive on high-refresh displays or for gaming. Some gesture and haptic features require Logitech Options+ to be installed and running.

Best vertical mouse: Logitech Lift
The Logitech Lift is the clearest starting point for small-to-medium hands and for people trying a vertical mouse for the first time. Logitech describes its 57-degree orientation as a more natural handshake position. That is a design rationale, not proof that the angle will relieve discomfort for every user.
The Lift supports Bluetooth and a USB receiver, pairs with up to three devices, and uses quiet clicks and scrolling. It weighs 133.4g. A left-handed version is available, making it one of the more practical choices for left-handed buyers. Logitech’s U.S. page showed a price of $69.99 on sale versus $79.99 regular price on August 18, 2026, with free returns within 30 days at that time.
Expect an adjustment period. The upright grip can initially feel awkward, especially when dragging objects, repositioning the pointer, or switching from a conventional mouse. If your hand is large, the short palm area or thumb position may feel cramped.

Best for large hands: Logitech MX Vertical
The MX Vertical is the better vertical option for many medium-to-large hands. RTINGS’ comparison places it as a larger-hand alternative to the Lift, even though the MX Vertical weighs slightly less at 127.5g. It charges over USB-C and offers a more substantial shell.
This is a right-handed mouse, and it is not designed as a competitive gaming product. Choose it when the upright posture is your priority and the Lift feels too small—not simply because a larger mouse must be more comfortable.
Best ergonomic gaming mouse: Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical
The Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical is the strongest choice for users who want a vertical shape without giving up gaming-oriented sensor and latency performance. It is more suitable for general gaming and comfortable casual play than the MX Master 4.

Its main limitation is weight: RTINGS lists it at 150g. That can feel cumbersome during rapid lifts and repeated repositioning, particularly in competitive FPS games. It also lacks free scrolling and onboard memory. Some settings require Razer software, so it is a poor fit for restricted work computers or anyone who wants settings stored entirely on the mouse.

Its compromises are a bulky body and less refined mouse feet. It is not the right pick if you specifically want a vertical mouse, premium glide, or a compact travel design.

“Ergonomic” is not a medical certification and does not mean “vertical.” A useful design should match your hand and work habits through a combination of:
- A palm contour and height that support the hand without forcing a squeeze
- A thumb rest and button layout that do not require awkward reaching
- Suitable width, length, and height for your hand
- Low enough button force and comfortable scroll-wheel resistance
- A weight and glide that suit how often you move or lift the mouse
- Compatibility with your palm, claw, or fingertip grip
- Connectivity, battery, and software behavior that fit your computer
A conventional sculpted mouse can be a better fit than a vertical model if you dislike the altered grip. Conversely, a vertical mouse may appeal if you prefer a handshake-like orientation. Neither design guarantees relief from pain or prevents repetitive-strain injuries.

Choose by hand size, handedness, and task
- Small-to-medium hands: Start with the Logitech Lift.
- Medium-to-large hands: Compare the MX Vertical with the MX Master 4. Choose the former for a vertical grip and the latter for broader productivity controls.
- Large hands: Avoid compact vertical mice if your thumb or palm is cramped. Fit matters more than popularity.
- Left-handed users: Confirm the exact SKU. The Lift has a left-handed version; most premium ergonomic designs are right-handed only.
- Office and spreadsheet work: Favor device switching, horizontal scrolling, free-spinning wheels, quiet clicks, and comfortable long-session support.
- Competitive gaming: Prioritize low weight, sensor performance, click latency, polling rate, and easy repositioning over a vertical shell.
- Travel and laptops: Check Bluetooth, receiver storage, USB-C adapter needs, dimensions, and weight. Bluetooth is not included on every wireless vertical mouse.
- Managed work computers: Check whether Logitech Options+ or Razer Synapse can be installed. Basic cursor movement may work without software, while gestures, remapping, RGB, and profiles may not.
What about an ergonomic trackball?
A trackball keeps the body stationary, which can help people with limited desk space or those who dislike repeated arm movement. It is not automatically more comfortable: thumb-operated models load the thumb differently, and all trackballs require new coordination and regular cleaning.
The Logitech MX ERGO is no longer readily available according to RTINGS’ June 25, 2026 update. RTINGS lists the newer Logitech MX Ergo S as a notable option with silent clicks, USB-C charging, and adjustable tilt, but had not independently tested it in that guide. The Ploopy Thumb Trackball is more customizable, with QMK and VIA support, but its 3D-printed construction and DIY orientation make it less plug-and-play.
Wireless or wired?
Wireless mice reduce cable drag, make repositioning easier, and may support Bluetooth and multiple devices. Their trade-offs are charging, battery replacement, receiver management, pairing, and sometimes greater software dependence.

Wired mice avoid battery maintenance and are often cheaper, but cable drag and routing can affect comfort. For a fixed desktop, wired can be simpler; for a laptop or multi-device setup, Bluetooth is convenient if your computer supports it.
How to set up an ergonomic mouse
- Keep the mouse close to the keyboard so your arm does not reach outward.
- Let the hand rest lightly instead of clamping the shell.
- Adjust pointer speed so ordinary movements do not require exaggerated arm travel.
- Keep the elbow and shoulder relaxed, and check that the desk height does not force the shoulder upward.
- Make sure the keyboard, chair, and armrests are not pushing you into an awkward reach.
- Take regular breaks and stop using a design if symptoms worsen.
A mouse cannot compensate for an unsuitable desk height, distant keyboard, high wrist rest, or poor chair position. Persistent or worsening hand, wrist, or forearm symptoms should be evaluated by an appropriate medical or occupational-health professional rather than treated solely by buying new hardware.
Bottom line
Buy the Logitech MX Master 4 for the best all-around productivity experience if you are right-handed and comfortable with a heavier conventional mouse. Buy the Logitech Lift for a vertical design, small-to-medium hands, or left-handed use. Choose the MX Vertical for a larger-handed vertical fit, and the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical when ergonomic shape and gaming performance both matter.
