For most WordPress sites collecting reviews on their own domain, start with Site Reviews. It is a maintained, first-party collection plugin with WooCommerce and SureCart integrations listed in the WordPress.org directory, more than 60,000 active installations in 2026 directory data, and schema support described by current comparisons. Choose Reviews Feed when your reviews already live on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or another supported service. Choose WP Customer Reviews for a free, manually moderated submission form. WooCommerce stores should compare a product-review tool such as Customer Reviews for WooCommerce (CusRev) with Site Reviews, while Strong Testimonials is better suited to publishing curated testimonials than running a full review operation.

First decide what “customer reviews” means on your site

WordPress plugins use the same phrase for three different systems. Your choice should follow the source of the review, not a universal ranking.

Reviews submitted directly to WordPress

A form on your site collects new reviews, which you approve, reject, answer, and display in lists, grids, widgets, or blocks. Site Reviews and WP Customer Reviews fit this model.

Reviews attached to WooCommerce products

The review belongs to a product page and may need buyer verification, product-specific moderation, photos, ratings, and compatibility with WooCommerce templates. A product-review plugin such as CusRev should be evaluated on those workflows rather than on testimonial-display features.

Reviews imported from external platforms

If the reviews already exist on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or another supported service, an importer or feed plugin is the right category. Reviews Feed is designed to display that external proof instead of asking customers to submit the same review again on your site.

Which plugin is best for each WordPress use case?

Best general-purpose collector: Site Reviews

Site Reviews is the broad default when customers need to leave reviews directly on a business site. The WordPress.org listing describes integrations with WooCommerce and SureCart, so it can serve a company site that also sells products without forcing every review into a product-page-only workflow. The 2026 comparisons describe it as maintained and capable of producing review schema.

Use it when you want one first-party review record, approval before publication, and flexible placement through the plugin’s available blocks, shortcodes, or templates. Confirm how its schema interacts with your SEO plugin before enabling duplicate structured data, and check whether the controls you need are included in the free plugin or require paid add-ons.

Best for existing Google and social reviews: Reviews Feed

Reviews Feed is the practical choice when the important reviews already live elsewhere. It is intended to synchronize or display reviews from services such as Google, Yelp, and Facebook, and WPBeginner’s April 1, 2026 comparison describes a multi-platform, free-and-paid offering.

This approach avoids asking a customer to write a second review, but it creates a dependency on the external platform. Check the exact networks supported by your plan, refresh behavior, attribution requirements, API or account permissions, and the design of the feed on mobile. Treat imported reviews as attributed external content; do not present them as first-party submissions.

Best free moderated form: WP Customer Reviews

WP Customer Reviews is aimed at sites that want visitors to submit business or product reviews through a free form and have an administrator approve them. The cited directory listing and 2026 comparisons describe moderation and structured review markup.

It is a sensible fit for a small business that values editorial control over advanced commerce automation. Before launch, test the submission fields, spam protection, notification and approval steps, administrator responses, and whether the resulting markup matches the review content actually visible to visitors.

Best WooCommerce product-review workflow: compare CusRev with Site Reviews

For a WooCommerce catalog, start with the product page as the unit of work. Compare Customer Reviews for WooCommerce (CusRev) and Site Reviews on the features that affect buying decisions: verified-buyer signals, photo or other media reviews, moderation queues, product-page integration, and structured-data output.

A store may need both product reviews and company testimonials. Keep those datasets distinct so a testimonial about delivery or support is not incorrectly attached to a specific product, and so product ratings are not displayed as general business endorsements.

Best for curated testimonials: Strong Testimonials

Strong Testimonials belongs in a different segment. Its WordPress.org listing confirms current availability, and its purpose is to publish reusable testimonial views. Choose it when staff select and arrange customer praise for pages such as Home, About, or Services.

Do not treat a testimonial display plugin as a replacement for a product-review workflow if you need buyer verification, product-level ratings, or a customer-facing moderation process.

Features that matter more than a star rating

Source and ownership

Decide whether you own the submission data, depend on an external platform, or need both. First-party entries should have a documented export or backup path. Imported feeds should retain the original platform’s identity and attribution, with a fallback plan if synchronization stops.

Moderation and trust controls

Look for an approval queue, spam prevention, the ability to edit or reject submissions, and a way to publish a business response. For stores, verified-buyer indicators can carry more weight than a large volume of anonymous ratings. Define who can approve reviews and how disputes are handled before turning on automatic publication.

Commerce integration and placement

Native WooCommerce integration normally matters when ratings must appear on product pages, in product tabs, or alongside purchase information. A shortcode or block can be sufficient for a service-business review page, but it may require manual placement and styling on a shop with many products.

Display and accessibility

Compare list, grid, slider, badge, widget, and template options; then test keyboard navigation, contrast, headings, image alternatives, and narrow screens. A feed that looks attractive in an administrator preview can still overflow or hide review text on mobile.

Media and reviewer identity

Photos, videos, names, business details, and links to an external profile can strengthen credibility, but they also create privacy and moderation responsibilities. Decide which fields are optional, how uploads are stored, and whether you need consent before publishing a customer’s name or image.

Cost, support, and lock-in

Check whether essential controls are free, whether premium features renew annually or on another schedule, and whether the plugin supports exporting reviews in a usable format. A low initial price is less valuable if leaving the plugin means losing review content or rebuilding every display.

Schema markup: useful, but not a rich-result guarantee

Several of these plugins can emit structured review data, such as JSON-LD or microformat-style markup. That can help a search engine understand the page and may support eligibility for review features, but it cannot guarantee star snippets or other rich results. Search engines decide whether to show those enhancements based on their policies, the page content, and the relationship between the markup and what users can see.

Keep the rating, review count, author information, product or business identity, and visible text consistent. Do not mark up reviews that are hidden, aggregated from an unsupported source, or unrelated to the page. After installation, inspect the rendered page and your SEO plugin’s schema settings for duplicate or conflicting entities.

A practical setup sequence

  1. Back up the site and database. Include existing reviews, WooCommerce data, theme files, and configuration before activating a new system.
  2. Install from the WordPress dashboard. Go to Plugins > Add New, install the chosen plugin, and record its version and license status.
  3. Define the review source. Configure first-party submissions, WooCommerce product reviews, or the external networks used by your feed. Do not mix sources without labeling them.
  4. Set moderation and privacy rules. Require approval initially, enable available anti-spam controls, decide which fields are public, and assign an administrator for responses.
  5. Place the display. Use the plugin’s block, shortcode, widget, or WooCommerce placement option. Check archive pages, product pages, menus, and mobile layouts.
  6. Check structured data. View the page source or use your normal validation tools to identify duplicate schema from the review plugin and an SEO plugin. Remove or disable one conflicting implementation.
  7. Run test submissions. Submit an approved review, a rejected or spam-like entry, a response, and—if relevant—a product review with an image. Confirm emails, permissions, and the final public rendering.

Migration checklist

  • Export or otherwise preserve the current review records, authors, dates, ratings, media, and source attribution.
  • Take a full backup and test restoration before deactivating the old plugin.
  • Map old shortcodes, blocks, widgets, and WooCommerce hooks to the new display method.
  • Recreate moderation, notification, privacy, and verified-buyer settings rather than assuming defaults match.
  • Review schema output for duplicate entities or ratings that are not visible on the page.
  • Keep redirects or stable URLs for review pages where the migration changes slugs.
  • After launch, test submission, approval, editing, deletion, export, and mobile display with a non-administrator account.

Verdict

Choose Site Reviews for a general first-party collection system, Reviews Feed for reviews that already live on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or another supported platform, and WP Customer Reviews when a free moderated form is the priority. WooCommerce merchants should make product-page workflow, verified-buyer controls, media, and schema behavior the deciding tests when comparing CusRev with Site Reviews. Choose Strong Testimonials only when the goal is curated testimonial publishing. Whichever system you install, treat schema as an eligibility aid—not a promise of Google stars—and plan the export and migration path before your review library becomes business-critical.
