Asana is the best default for coordinating marketing campaigns in 2026 because it combines briefs, owners, dependencies, timelines, workload views, portfolios and integrations without pretending to be a CRM or email-delivery system. If your main problem is customer journeys, choose HubSpot or ActiveCampaign; for intake and approvals, Wrike; for social publishing, Hootsuite; and for enterprise orchestration, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
“Campaign management” covers several different jobs. The right purchase depends on whether you are organizing work, automating contacts, publishing email or social content, managing a content database, or tying activity to revenue.

Asana is the strongest general recommendation when a campaign is a coordinated project involving marketing, sales, product, design, legal or an agency. List, board, timeline and Gantt views show dependencies; workload and portfolio views expose capacity and cross-campaign status; templates standardize recurring launches; and integrations connect files, chat and calendars.
It does not send marketing messages, maintain a contact database or independently prove revenue attribution. Advanced portfolio, goal and workload features require higher tiers, and a large collection of custom fields and projects needs governance. Official pricing observed August 18, 2026: Personal free; Starter $10.99/user/month annually ($13.49 monthly); Advanced $24.99 annually ($30.49 monthly); Enterprise custom (pricing).
Best alternatives by dominant job
Wrike for intake, approvals and capacity
Dynamic request forms can turn stakeholder requests into structured work, while proofing, approval queues, dashboards, Gantt charts and resource management suit busy creative departments and agencies. It requires more administration than a lightweight task tool, sells some subscriptions in user groups (accounts up to 30 seats are sold in groups of five), and its Team plan was listed at $10/user/month (pricing).
HubSpot Marketing Hub for CRM-connected campaigns
HubSpot links forms, landing pages, marketing automation, campaign reporting, lead management and sales follow-up to one CRM. Marketing contacts count toward paid contact tiers; non-marketing contacts can remain in the CRM but cannot receive marketing emails or ads (official pricing). Choose it when lifecycle stage and sales context matter more than a detailed production calendar.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →ActiveCampaign for behavioral lifecycle automation
It supports multi-step, cross-channel workflows, segmentation, conditional content, predictive sending, site and link tracking, reporting, attribution and conversion tracking. Pricing depends on contacts and plan. It is a weaker fit for campaigns dominated by creative briefs, dependencies and approval rounds (pricing).
Airtable for content operations
Linked records can connect campaigns, assets, channels, owners and publication dates. Grid, calendar, kanban, gallery, timeline and custom interfaces work well for editorial calendars and inventories. You must design the schema, permissions and automations, and it is not an email-delivery, CRM or attribution platform. Team pricing was listed at $20/user/month annually, with a free plan (pricing).
monday.com for visual workflows
Boards, custom status and budget fields, dashboards, templates and no-code automations make campaign state easy to scan. Large boards can become cluttered, seat minimums can waste budget, and native revenue attribution is not included. The accessed regional page showed Basic at €9 and Standard at €12 per seat/month annually; currency and totals vary (pricing).
Rank #3
ClickUp for a low advertised entry price
Tasks, docs, goals, dashboards, time tracking and multiple views can consolidate a small team’s workspace. Free Forever, Unlimited at $7/user/month and Business at $12/user/month were listed; Enterprise is custom (pricing). Its dense interface and configuration effort can slow adoption, and it does not replace CRM or marketing analytics.
Hootsuite for social execution
Publishing, scheduling, monitoring and social analytics make Hootsuite more appropriate than a general project tool for multiple social accounts. It does not manage a complete campaign brief, CRM or cross-channel revenue model. Standard, Professional and Advanced started at $99, $199 and $399 per month respectively; Enterprise is custom (plans).
Salesforce Marketing Cloud for enterprise orchestration
Multichannel journeys, forms, landing pages, CRM integration and enterprise permissions suit organizations with complex identity, governance and regional operations. Growth Edition was listed at $1,500 per organization/month billed annually (pricing). Implementation, data architecture, consultants and ongoing administration can outweigh the benefit for smaller teams.
Rank #4
Mailchimp for accessible email
Mailchimp combines email creation, audience management, automation, content, social features and reporting. Essentials was displayed from $13/month for the accessed configuration, with a 14-day trial; contacts, send limits and plan determine the actual bill (pricing). It is not designed for complex cross-functional production or enterprise CRM orchestration.
Match the software to the campaign
- Content campaign: Use Asana, Airtable, monday.com or Wrike for briefs, editorial calendars, assets and approvals.
- Product launch: Use Asana or Wrike for dependencies, enablement, legal review and launch milestones.
- Email campaign: Use Mailchimp for straightforward sends; ActiveCampaign or HubSpot for behavioral journeys and CRM context.
- Lead generation: Use HubSpot or Salesforce for forms, lead scoring, routing, nurture and lifecycle reporting.
- Paid media: Use a work-management system for creative and budget coordination, connected to ad platforms, analytics and CRM data for outcomes.
- Social campaign: Use Hootsuite or Sprout Social for publishing and listening, paired with a planning or CRM system.
- Agency/client work: Prioritize request intake, client reviewers, separated workspaces, templates, time tracking and exportable records; Wrike is often stronger than a basic calendar.
- Enterprise omnichannel: Evaluate Salesforce Marketing Cloud and governance-heavy combinations such as Adobe Workfront with Marketo Engage.

Project workflow versus marketing automation
Asana, Wrike, monday.com, ClickUp, Airtable and Smartsheet primarily coordinate people and deliverables. HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp and Marketo Engage additionally manage contacts, sends, journeys, lead scoring and campaign outcomes. Hootsuite specializes in social execution. These layers are complementary, not interchangeable: a common stack is Asana plus HubSpot, or Wrike plus Salesforce.
Recommended Free Tools
A task platform can record a KPI or link to a dashboard, but it cannot by itself resolve offline conversions, ad-platform restrictions, duplicate conversions, cross-device behavior, contact merging, revenue timing or conflicting attribution models.

How to choose
- Define the dominant job. Is the bottleneck coordination, lifecycle automation, email, social publishing, content data or enterprise governance?
- Document one complete campaign. Map brief, intake, production, approvals, launch, handoffs and measurement before configuring software.
- Choose a system of record. Decide where campaign status, audience truth, assets and results will live.
- Check the data path. Confirm CRM, analytics, ad, email, social, file and collaboration integrations, plus export and API limits.
- Price the real configuration. Include seats, contact tiers, messages, automation runs, AI credits, storage, guests, add-ons, onboarding, migration and training.
- Pilot one full cycle. Measure adoption, approval time, handoff errors and reporting gaps before expanding.
Implementation plan
- Define required campaign fields, naming conventions and ownership.
- Create one template with milestones, dependencies and approval states.
- Connect CRM, analytics and communication tools; standardize UTMs.
- Run a complete campaign without excessive automation.
- Review whether people use the system and whether outcomes are measurable.
- Add reminders, routing and recurring automations only after the manual workflow is stable.
- Expand the proven template to launches, content, email, paid and social programs.
Common buying and adoption mistakes
- Comparing a task manager directly with a CRM or social publisher
- Choosing an enterprise platform without an administrator or implementation budget
- Building too many custom fields or a separate project for every minor activity
- Leaving approvals in email and chat instead of recording decisions
- Tracking task volume without connecting activity to conversions and revenue
- Ignoring contact definitions, seat groups, automation limits, API limits and regional pricing
- Assuming an AI label means better results; verify credits, permitted actions, data use and human review
- Assuming a security badge proves compliance for your region, data and contract
Alternatives worth evaluating
Adobe Workfront suits enterprise creative operations and Adobe-centered proofing. Adobe Marketo Engage targets involved B2B automation and lead management. Smartsheet fits spreadsheet-oriented operations; Trello is a simple campaign calendar. Sprout Social is a social-specialist alternative, while Brevo covers email, SMS and automation for price-sensitive teams.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is campaign-management software the same as CRM software?
No. Campaign-management products may coordinate tasks, while a CRM stores contacts and lifecycle data. Marketing-automation suites add journeys, sends, scoring and reporting; many teams use both layers.
Can one tool manage paid, email, social and content campaigns?
A broad stack can coordinate all four, but specialist execution and reliable attribution usually require connected tools. Choose a system of record rather than assuming one product replaces every platform.
Does campaign software prove ROI?
Only when CRM, ad, analytics and finance data are connected with consistent naming and conversion definitions. Offline sales, privacy restrictions and attribution-model differences can leave results incomplete.
What should agencies check first?
Verify client workspaces, external reviewer permissions, approval history, reusable templates, time and resource tracking, data separation, dashboards and exportable records.
When is an enterprise platform justified?
When customer data, governance, regional teams, multichannel journeys and auditability outweigh implementation cost—and the organization has administrators and an integration budget.
