Belkin ConnectAir is a two-piece wireless display adapter: a USB-C transmitter sends video to an HDMI receiver plugged into a TV, monitor or projector. It is built for cable-free presentations, not 4K home theater: Belkin specifies up to 1080p at 60 Hz. Before considering it, check that your source device’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode; USB-C alone does not guarantee video output.
What Belkin ConnectAir does
The ConnectAir Wireless HDMI Display Adapter (model AVC024; regional SKUs include AVC024dqBK and AVC024hqBK) creates a direct wireless link between a source device and a display. The transmitter plugs into a compatible USB-C port. The receiver connects to the display’s HDMI input and also needs USB-A power. The display itself is not wireless, and ConnectAir does not provide internet access.
Unlike AirPlay, Google Cast or other network-based casting, ConnectAir does not require the presenter and display to join a Wi-Fi network. It uses wireless radio for its own peer-to-peer connection. Belkin describes the link as secure, but that claim should not be taken as a substitute for an organization’s security review or network policy.

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. In particular, 131 feet is a stated maximum rather than a promise of that distance through walls or in a busy room. The published resolution ceiling is 1080p; do not assume HDMI connectivity means 4K support.

Check compatibility before buying
The most important requirement is USB-C video output using DisplayPort Alt Mode. A USB-C port may support charging and data but not display output. Check the source device’s specifications or manufacturer documentation for DisplayPort Alt Mode or USB-C video output. A Thunderbolt port can support display output, but confirm the specific host’s capabilities rather than relying on the connector’s appearance.
- Laptops: Belkin lists Windows, Mac and Chrome OS. The laptop still needs compatible USB-C display output.
- Phones and tablets: Belkin markets the adapter for mobile devices, but the device must output video over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. Not every USB-C phone or tablet does.
- USB-A, Lightning or HDMI-only sources: These are not the transmitter’s stated direct connection. Do not assume an adapter will make an unsupported device compatible.
- Displays: The TV, monitor or projector needs an HDMI input and a suitable USB-A power source for the receiver, or another USB-A power source meeting the stated minimum.
How to connect it
- Plug the receiver’s HDMI connector into the display.
- Connect the receiver to USB-A power. Belkin’s product brief specifies at least 2.3 W.
- Plug the transmitter into a USB-C port on a source device that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- Select the display’s corresponding HDMI input.
- Use the operating system’s display settings to select mirroring or extending.

Mirroring, extending and performance
Mirroring duplicates the source screen, making it the straightforward choice for slides or demonstrations. Extending makes the remote display a second desktop area, useful for keeping notes on a laptop while showing content to an audience. The operating system and graphics hardware control those modes; ConnectAir carries the display signal but does not replace the OS display settings.

Belkin’s 1080p/60 Hz specification should be adequate for many presentations and ordinary desktop work. It is a poor match for a 4K display workflow, HDR requirements or high-refresh gaming. The stated latency is below 80 ms, with Belkin noting that results vary by laptop and monitor. That is not zero lag, so a wired connection is the safer choice for competitive games or other latency-sensitive use.
Troubleshooting common problems
No picture
- Confirm the TV, monitor or projector is on the HDMI input used by the receiver.
- Check that the receiver is connected to USB-A power; try a different source if the display’s USB port may not supply enough power.
- Verify that the source USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, not just charging or data.
- Reseat both ends and move the units closer together, with fewer obstacles between them.
- Restart the source and display. If needed, test the source with a wired USB-C-to-HDMI adapter to check whether its port can output video.
Black screen or HDCP error
ConnectAir lists HDCP 1.4 support, but that does not guarantee every protected-video service or 4K content path will work. Belkin maintains a black-screen and HDCP troubleshooting resource. As a diagnostic, try setting the source output to 1080p, which is the adapter’s specified maximum. If protected content still fails, a direct wired connection may be more suitable.
Intermittent signal or shorter-than-expected range
Distance, walls, furniture, metal structures, radio congestion, receiver power, transmitter orientation and HDMI handshake behavior can all affect a wireless link. Move the source closer, reduce obstructions, check receiver power and reconnect the HDMI input. The 40-meter figure is Belkin’s maximum stated range, not a guaranteed indoor result.

No sound
Check the source’s audio-output selection and the display’s volume and input settings. Belkin’s public specifications do not provide a detailed audio-format or surround-passthrough table, so do not assume support for a particular Dolby or multichannel format. For an audio problem that persists, consult the current user guide or use a wired connection.

For a one-person setup with a nearby display, a wired USB-C-to-HDMI connection is typically simpler and avoids wireless variables. Network-based casting makes sense when the room already has compatible equipment and a reliable, permitted network. ConnectAir’s distinct advantage is a direct link and the ability to pair multiple transmitters with one receiver.
Is it worth the price?
Belkin’s U.S. product page displayed a price of $149.99 on August 18, 2026, alongside an email-when-in-stock option. Price and availability can change; check the current Belkin product page before buying.
That price is easiest to justify for a conference room, classroom or shared projector where avoiding cable handoffs and venue Wi-Fi setup saves time. It is harder to justify for a home user who only needs to connect one laptop to a nearby screen, or for anyone prioritizing 4K, HDR, gaming latency or the lowest cost.
Verdict: ConnectAir is a purpose-built convenience for cable-free 1080p presentations, provided the source has USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and the receiver can be powered. It is not a 4K wireless HDMI solution. Choose a wired adapter for simplicity, low latency or higher-resolution needs; choose ConnectAir when mobility, shared use and independence from a Wi-Fi network matter more.
