Beats introduced its first charging cables on April 15, 2025. The woven range is designed to resist kinks and tangles, but the cables are not knot-proof—and their USB-C models use USB 2.0 for data, even when rated for high-wattage charging. The original collection came in three connector types and two lengths; the current U.S. lineup also includes a 10-foot USB-C cable rated up to 240W. Power adapters are sold separately.
What Beats launched—and what is available now
The original Beats Cables collection included USB-C-to-USB-C, USB-A-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-Lightning cables, each offered in 1.5-meter (5-foot) and 20-centimeter (8-inch) lengths. The launch colors were Bolt Black, Surge Stone, Nitro Navy and Rapid Red. U.S. launch pricing was $18.99 for one cable or $34.99 for a two-pack; power adapters were not included. Beats announced the collection on April 15, 2025.
The range has since expanded. Beats lists a 3-meter (10-foot) USB-C-to-USB-C cable rated for charging up to 240W, at a U.S. price of $29.99, and the catalog now includes Power Pink in addition to the original colors. These are later additions, not launch-day options. Connector, length, color and price availability can vary by listing and market, so check the product page for the exact version you want.

The table summarizes the range, not a guarantee that every connector and length is currently offered in every color or region. Beats’ cable catalog lists the current product categories. The standard USB-C-to-USB-C model’s product specifications give its 60W maximum and USB 2.0 data rating; the 10-foot model listing specifies up to 240W and USB 2.0 data.

What “anti-tangle” means in practice
The cable’s outer woven sleeve is intended to be soft and flexible, helping it resist sharp kinks and reduce tangling compared with some smooth-jacket cables. It can also give the cable a more substantial feel. But “anti-tangle” is a design aim, not a promise that the cable can never knot: tight coiling, pocket storage or mixing several cables together can still create tangles. A woven jacket can also collect dirt, snag or wear, particularly near the plugs.
Beats says the cable ends are reinforced at common strain points to help prevent fraying, and that the cables undergo thousands of hours of testing. Those are manufacturer claims; the available product information does not provide an independent comparative failure-rate test. As with any cable, avoid sharply bending it where it exits the connector, especially while charging.

Charging wattage is not data speed
The standard 1.5-meter USB-C-to-USB-C cable supports charging up to 60W and USB 2.0 data rates. The 3-meter cable raises the charging ceiling to 240W, but its data rating is still USB 2.0. That is suitable for charging, syncing and ordinary file transfers; it is not a high-speed USB 3.x, USB4 or Thunderbolt cable for moving large video libraries or driving a display. The woven exterior does not make a cable faster.

Actual charging depends on the device, adapter, USB Power Delivery support, negotiated charging profile, battery state and temperature. A phone or headphone case will not charge at 240W just because it is connected to the 240W cable.

USB-C describes the connector shape, not every capability inside the cable. Do not infer high-speed data, display output, USB4 or Thunderbolt support from a USB-C plug alone. If you need fast external-drive transfers, docking or video output, choose a cable whose listing explicitly supports the relevant data or display standard.
Choose the connector and length for your setup
- USB-C to USB-C: Choose this for a USB-C device and USB-C charger. It suits current USB-C iPhones and iPads, Macs, Android devices and USB-C Beats accessories. The standard 5-foot cable is rated up to 60W; the 10-foot model is rated up to 240W.
- USB-A to USB-C: Choose this when the charger, car port, computer or power bank has a USB-A socket and the device has USB-C. The source and its charging standard can limit the power, regardless of the cable’s listed maximum.
- USB-C to Lightning: This remains useful for existing Lightning iPhones, iPads and accessories when your charger has USB-C. It is a compatibility purchase for older hardware, not the best option if you are moving your setup to USB-C.
- Short cable: The original 8-inch format is useful with a power bank or in a cramped car or desk setup, where excess length gets in the way. It is unlikely to reach comfortably from a wall outlet to a bed or sofa.
- 10-foot USB-C cable: The extra length can reach a bed, sofa or larger desk from a distant outlet. It costs more than a standard cable, takes up more room in a bag and is less convenient to coil. Its 240W rating is useful only when the charger and device can use that level; many phones and accessories do not need it.
Before buying, check the ports on both the device and charger, whether you need data transfers or just charging, the device’s power requirements, and whether the cable needs to reach across a room. If you are buying for a laptop, confirm that 60W is sufficient for that model and workload. In every case, the adapter is separate: Beats’ launch announcement said chargers were not included, and Apple’s listing for the 10-foot cable also specifies that its USB-C power adapter is sold separately.

Is a Beats cable worth choosing?
Beats’ strongest case is the combination of woven construction, recognizable colors and branding, and a range that includes USB-C, USB-A and Lightning connectors. The standard 5-foot cable is a straightforward charging and everyday-syncing option; the 10-foot version is for buyers who need reach and compatible high-power USB-C charging. If a two-pack fits your needs, its original U.S. launch price was $34.99, compared with $18.99 for a single cable.
Woven cables are not unique to Beats, however, and the available evidence does not establish that these last longer than competitors. Compare the exact connector, length, charging rating, data speed, warranty and any certification you need—not just the brand or wattage printed in a listing. Anker, Belkin, Apple and other cable makers offer alternatives, but check their current specifications and prices directly rather than assuming they match.

For charging and ordinary syncing, Beats Cables can suit buyers who value their styling or a particular length and connector. For high-speed file transfers, display connections, or the lowest price per cable, look elsewhere for a model explicitly rated for the required standard. If you still use Lightning hardware, the Lightning version makes sense when you need a replacement; otherwise, a USB-C cable is the more forward-looking choice.
