Verdict: The be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W remains a well-equipped, quiet-oriented power supply when bought cheaply and in good condition—but it is no longer the best default choice for a new 2026 gaming PC. The Gold BN619 delivers its full 750W through the 12V output, uses fully modular cabling, and includes four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors. However, its ATX 12V 2.4 design, lack of a native 12VHPWR or 12V-2×6 connector, five-year warranty, and age make a current ATX 3.x PSU a better purchase when prices are close.
This review covers the commonly sold 80 PLUS Gold BN619. Be careful when shopping: the 750W Straight Power 11 family also includes the 80 PLUS Platinum BN642, which is a different variant with different efficiency specifications.

The Straight Power 11 was a premium PSU when it launched in 2018. Its construction, modular design, acoustic focus, and protection features still make it more interesting than a basic budget unit. But its original strengths do not erase the generational difference between an ATX 2.4 supply and today’s ATX 3.x models.

“Straight Power 11 750W” is not a complete product identification. There are at least two relevant versions:

The Gold specification and connector information discussed below come from be quiet!’s product material, the BN619 listing at B&H, and the Straight Power 11 manual. Check the label on the PSU before relying on any specification.

These are published ratings and limits, not independent laboratory measurements. They establish what the manufacturer specifies; they do not prove how a particular sample performs on a test bench.
Build quality and design
The Straight Power 11’s appeal is its combination of premium positioning and acoustic engineering. The BN619 uses a 135mm Silent Wings 3 fan with a fluid-dynamic bearing and a funnel-shaped intake intended to improve airflow. Be quiet! also describes a wire-free DC-side construction, while the product family uses Japanese 105°C capacitors.
Those are positive design details, but they should not be overinterpreted. Japanese capacitors do not, by themselves, prove better voltage regulation, transient response, noise, or lifespan. Likewise, a fan bearing rating is not a guarantee that every old sample will remain quiet after years of heat and dust exposure.
The 170mm depth is longer than some compact ATX supplies, so check the case’s PSU clearance—particularly in cases with drive cages or limited space behind the power-supply shroud.
Noise: designed to be quiet, not guaranteed silent
be quiet! lists an approximately 8.4–21.2 dBA noise range for the Gold specification. That is a manufacturer or retailer-listed figure, not a complete independent test result. The original launch coverage identifies the Straight Power 11 as a quieter, more efficient revision, but the accessible material does not provide a verifiable full set of test-bench measurements for this article.

In a well-ventilated case and a moderate-load system, the large fan and quiet-focused design should be attractive to builders who dislike PSU fan noise. Still, acoustic results depend on ambient noise, fan speed, chassis resonance, GPU noise, load, and sample condition.

Isolated user reports are anecdotal and do not establish a systemic defect. Coil whine can change with GPU frame rate, power state, load, cable arrangement, and case acoustics. A clear return policy matters more than assuming that every sample will be silent.
Electrical capacity and whether 750W is enough
The important number for a modern PC is not just the headline wattage: the BN619 specifies 750W, or 62.5A, on the combined 12V output. That is where the CPU and GPU draw most of their power.
A healthy 750W unit can suit a mainstream or upper-midrange gaming system, but no universal GPU recommendation follows from the number alone. Assess:
- the GPU’s maximum board power and transient behavior;
- the CPU’s sustained package power, especially under all-core workloads;
- overclocking or power-limit changes;
- drives, pumps, fans, capture cards and other expansion devices;
- the PSU’s age and remaining warranty; and
- future GPU upgrade plans.
For a new high-end gaming system, 850W or more may be the more sensible choice, particularly when the graphics card has substantial transient demand. Leave practical headroom rather than designing around a theoretical maximum that leaves no margin for aging or upgrades.

The BN619 uses four 12V rails. Multi-rail operation is not automatically dangerous, but it does make cable placement important. The manual gives specific PCIe guidance:

For a high-power graphics card, use separate PCIe cables where practical and follow the graphics-card manufacturer’s instructions. Do not assume that a single daisy-chained cable is appropriate merely because its connectors fit.
Modular cabling and compatibility
The PSU is fully modular and includes the expected motherboard, CPU, GPU and peripheral connections:
- 24-pin ATX motherboard cable;
- 4+4-pin EPS cable plus an additional 8-pin EPS cable;
- four 6+2-pin PCIe connectors;
- eleven SATA connectors;
- four Molex/PATA connectors; and
- FDD support or an adapter, depending on package and region.
Modular cabling simplifies installation and improves cable management, but it creates one serious rule: never reuse modular cables from another PSU unless compatibility is explicitly confirmed. Pinouts can differ even between supplies from the same brand. Use the cables supplied with the specific Straight Power 11 unit.
Modern GPU compatibility: capacity is not the same as native support
The BN619 provides conventional 6+2-pin PCIe connectors and predates ATX 3.x and PCIe 5.x power-delivery requirements. Its published specifications do not include a native 12VHPWR or 12V-2×6 connector.
That does not make it unusable with every recent graphics card. A manufacturer-approved adapter may work if the PSU has sufficient capacity and the adapter is installed correctly. However, adapters are not equivalent to having a native modern connector on an ATX 3.x PSU.
If an adapter is required:
- use the adapter supplied or approved by the GPU manufacturer;
- connect the required number of independent PCIe cables;
- fully insert the high-power connector until it is completely seated;
- avoid sharp bends close to the connector; and
- keep the cable free from side-panel pressure.
For a new high-end GPU build, a native ATX 3.x supply is the cleaner choice. The Straight Power 12 750W, for example, is marketed with ATX 3.x and PCIe 5.1 support, 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency, and a 10-year warranty.

Age, warranty and used-market risk
The Straight Power 11 carries a five-year manufacturer warranty. A unit purchased new in 2018 may already be outside warranty in 2026, depending on the purchase date and regional terms. For second-hand units, verify the serial number, original receipt, warranty-transfer rules, seller status, and whether the PSU has been opened or modified.
“It powers on” is not proof of electrical health. A used unit may have spent years in a hot case, dusty environment, workstation, or 24/7 workload. Look for unknown history, fan noise, burning odor, repeated shutdowns, startup failures, visible damage, or damaged connectors. Do not open the PSU: disconnected supplies can retain dangerous voltage.
The official operating range is listed as 0–40°C. Poor ventilation and high ambient temperature can push a PSU outside the conditions assumed by its published acoustic and lifetime claims.

Launch coverage from 2018 describes the Straight Power 11 family as an internally revised successor focused on efficiency, lower noise, modular cabling and multiple 12V rails. However, the accessible launch page is primarily a summary and does not provide a complete, verifiable laboratory dataset for the BN619.
Accordingly, this is a specification-led review, not a new laboratory test. The available material does not justify claiming exact measured voltage regulation, ripple, efficiency curves, transient response, fan noise at specific loads, thermal performance, or protection-trip behavior.
Motherboard software and BIOS voltage readings are also not substitutes for calibrated electrical testing. A single software screenshot cannot diagnose PSU regulation or ripple.

Value in 2026
Pricing is decisive because this is a discontinued or remaining-stock product in some markets. B&H lists the Gold BN619 as discontinued, while Walmart displayed a price of $186.23 but marked the item out of stock. An out-of-stock listing is not a useful street-price benchmark.
The Straight Power 11 makes sense when it is:
- substantially cheaper than a current ATX 3.x alternative;
- new old stock or lightly used with a credible history;
- being installed in a system whose GPU uses conventional PCIe connectors or an approved adapter;
- paired with hardware whose sustained and transient demand is comfortably below 750W; and
- chosen with the possibility of expired warranty coverage understood.
Walk away when it costs close to a current premium ATX 3.x PSU, lacks proof of origin, has an unknown 24/7 or mining history, or is intended for a new high-end GPU build.
Alternatives
be quiet! Straight Power 12 750W
This is the most direct modern replacement for buyers who value be quiet!’s noise-focused positioning. It adds ATX 3.x and PCIe 5.1 support, native modern GPU power-delivery support, 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency, and a 10-year warranty. It is the stronger default for a new premium build, provided its current price is competitive.
be quiet! Pure Power 11 FM 750W
The Pure Power 11 FM 750W offers fully modular cables, 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, four PCIe connectors and a five-year warranty. It uses a 120mm fan and two 12V rails, so it is a lower-tier alternative rather than an automatic technical upgrade over the Straight Power 11. Consider it only when its price and system requirements make sense.
Current ATX 3.x competitors
Also consider current 750W–850W ATX 3.x models from established manufacturers such as Corsair, Seasonic, Super Flower and be quiet!. Compare native 12V-2×6 support, warranty length, independent ripple and transient testing, noise, availability and price. Do not rank a PSU by 80 PLUS certification alone: efficiency does not establish regulation, ripple quality, transient response, protections or overall platform quality.
