AWS re:Invent 2026 runs November 30–December 4, 2026, in Las Vegas. It is a five-day, multi-venue conference with more than 2,200 AWS sessions, but its value depends on deliberate planning: the campuses are spread across major resorts, popular interactive sessions fill quickly, and the real trip cost is much higher than the pass alone.
The early-bird full-conference pass is $1,299 through August 25, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PDT; the regular price is $2,499. This guide explains who should attend, how to budget and register, where hotels and transportation fit, how to build a realistic agenda, and when online content is the better choice.

What AWS re:Invent is—and what it is not
re:Invent is AWS’s flagship customer and technology conference. It combines product announcements with architecture guidance, customer examples, partner meetings, hands-on learning and direct conversations with AWS specialists. The program includes keynotes, breakouts, workshops, labs, chalk talks, code talks, builders’ sessions, bootcamps, demonstrations and Ask the Experts interactions.

It is not simply a launch event. A keynote may explain a new capability, but a workshop can help you implement it, a chalk talk can expose design trade-offs, and a customer conversation can reveal operating lessons that are absent from documentation. In 2026, AWS is incorporating re:Inforce security programming into re:Invent, including a dedicated security-focused day on Thursday, December 3 (AWS FAQ).
Who should attend?
AWS positions the conference for technical practitioners, security professionals and business decision-makers at every experience level. Session levels run from 100 Foundational to 500 Distinguished; the number describes familiarity with the topic, not seniority or job title (session-level guide).
- Developers and application teams: Use code talks, workshops and builders’ sessions to turn service features into working patterns.
- Architects and platform engineers: Bring an architecture decision, reliability concern or modernization plan for chalk talks and expert discussions.
- Security, identity, governance and compliance teams: The re:Inforce integration and security-focused sessions are particularly relevant.
- Data, analytics and machine-learning practitioners: Compare implementation approaches, costs and operational practices across the AWS data and AI ecosystem.
- DevOps, SRE, infrastructure and migration teams: Focus on migration lessons, observability, automation, resilience and operating models.
- IT leaders and executives: Use strategy sessions, customer stories and targeted AWS meetings to test a roadmap or investment decision.
- AWS partners, consultants and vendors: Meet customers and evaluate complementary technologies, while separating technical fit from sales messaging.
- AWS newcomers: Attend at 100-level and foundational sessions instead of attempting an advanced schedule.
Who may want to skip the trip
- Anyone seeking only a low-cost introductory AWS course.
- Teams that cannot justify the pass, hotel, travel and lost-work costs.
- People who expect a compact, single-site conference with a small number of talks.
- Anyone whose main objective is taking a certification exam onsite; AWS says exams will not be offered at re:Invent in 2026.
How much does re:Invent cost?

A full pass includes keynotes, breakout sessions, workshops, labs, the wider event experience and re:Play (pricing; FAQ). The early-bird price is $1,200 lower than the regular price only while that deadline applies.

- Conference pass and any guest passes.
- Airfare or ground transportation.
- Hotel, resort fees, deposits and room-sharing arrangements.
- Meals not supplied by the event.
- Airport transfers and local incidentals.
- Optional customer, partner or private events.
- Lost work time and travel days.
- Schedule changes or nonrefundable bookings.
There is no responsible single “total trip cost”: airfare, hotel dates, departure city, room occupancy and corporate policy change the result substantially.
Should your employer pay?
Make the request a business case, not a reward. Tie attendance to a migration, modernization, security, data or AI initiative and list the decisions the trip should help resolve. Select sessions against those questions, arrange meetings with AWS experts or customers, and promise a short post-event readout containing decisions, experiments and owners.
AWS provides an Approval Toolkit and advertises group discounts. If at least 10 employees attend, compare the bulk purchase with individual passes. Attendance does not guarantee measurable savings or revenue; the return depends on preparation and follow-through.
Registration, billing and cancellation
- Open the official registration page and sign in with an AWS Builder ID, or create one.
- Complete the attendee profile and any business-email verification.
- Select in-person attendance and the pass type.
- Pay or choose an available organizational billing method.
- Save the confirmation and open the attendee portal.
- Use the portal to book a hotel, plan sessions, manage reserved seating and access vouchers when available.
A business email is preferred. A personal email or supported social login may still trigger a request to provide and verify a business email. Deleting the Builder ID can remove access to the current re:Invent account (FAQ).

AWS’s “Bill to AWS” workflow lets an attendee request that the pass be charged to an AWS account. The approver reviews the request in the AWS Management Console; it expires after seven days without action. The approver needs the AWS-managed ReInventTicketApprovalAccess policy. Refund and transfer deadlines
- Cancellation by October 16, 2026: full refund.
- October 17 through November 23, 2026: 50% refund.
- After November 23, 2026: no registration refund.
- Transfers require AWS approval, and a hotel reservation does not transfer with event registration.
Check the current FAQ before committing to airfare or rooms.
Hotels and accommodation
- Register for re:Invent.
- Choose Book or manage hotel in the attendee portal.
- Select an official room-block property while inventory remains.
- Provide a credit card and save the acknowledgement number.
- Verify the final confirmation sent by the hotel.
Official rates are available through the portal subject to inventory. The room block is scheduled to close November 5, 2026. Hotels charge a one-night deposit directly, and AWS says final confirmation emails are expected between November 5 and 13 (FAQ).
An acknowledgement is not necessarily the final hotel confirmation, and cancellation rules differ by property. An outside hotel may be cheaper or more flexible, but do not assume it receives official transportation access or event rates. Attendees aged 18–20 may face gaming-regulation restrictions: AWS excludes Treasure Island from the stated 21-plus reservation restriction, while other hotels may require check-in with someone at least 21.

Plan around the Las Vegas campus
re:Invent is distributed across Caesars Forum, Caesars Palace, Encore, MGM Grand, The Venetian, Wynn and connected properties. AWS operates shuttles between properties during conference hours. Badge holders can ride the Las Vegas Monorail free by showing their badge; detailed 2026 routes and schedules are expected closer to the event (FAQ).
- Do not put distant venues in consecutive time slots.
- Allow for walking through casino properties, elevators, room queues, badge checks, shuttle waits and security.
- Cluster sessions geographically when possible.
- Keep at least one flexible block each day for meals, expo visits and conversations.
- Confirm the venue in the live catalog or app rather than relying on an old guide.
Build an agenda that works
- Define two or three outcomes before searching.
- Search by a problem—such as reducing deployment risk—not only by service name.
- Filter by topic, role, level and format.
- Save more candidates than you can attend, then rank them.
- Create a primary schedule and backups.
- Mix a strategic block, architecture discussion, hands-on session and peer or partner conversation.
- Leave unscheduled time and revisit the catalog as AWS adds content.
- Check reservation requirements and export or screenshot your schedule for offline use.
AWS’s initial catalog contained 220-plus sessions, while the event is advertised at more than 2,200. Treat early listings as a starting point, not the complete agenda (learning formats).

Reserved seating: favorites are not reservations
Favoriting a session only saves it to your plan. For participating formats, you must reserve a seat separately in the attendee portal or AWS Events mobile app when reservations open. Reserved formats include bootcamps, builders’ sessions, chalk talks, code talks, exam preparation, gamified learning, selected labs and workshops. Keynotes do not require reservations (FAQ).
- Never reserve overlapping sessions.
- Arrive at least 10 minutes early or the seat may be released to walk-ups.
- If full, look for a repeated session marked
-R, check for cancellations or join the walk-up queue. - Reservation does not remove the need to allow venue travel time.
Security and re:Inforce in 2026
Security content is part of re:Invent this year rather than a separate trip: AWS is incorporating re:Inforce programming and designating Thursday, December 3 as a security-focused day. Security, identity, governance and compliance teams should reserve time for those sessions while still allowing travel and meeting buffers.
Certification planning
AWS will not administer certification exams onsite at re:Invent 2026. In-person attendees receive one 50% discount voucher for an AWS Certification exam. The appointment can be scheduled for any date before January 31, 2027, and the voucher expires January 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Virtual attendees are not eligible. The voucher covers one exam and cannot be combined with other offers.
Use re:Invent bootcamps and exam-preparation sessions to study, then schedule separately through AWS Certification and Pearson VUE. The voucher is not a free exam and does not guarantee an appointment. Details are in the FAQ and on AWS Certification.

AWS says the expo includes more than 450 AWS Partners (FAQ). Make it a research appointment rather than a swag tour:
- List vendors connected to current projects before arrival.
- Bring one architecture, integration or procurement question.
- Ask how the product fits your existing AWS services, data flows and operating model.
- Separate technical validation from sales qualification.
- Record an owner and next step immediately after each meeting.
Good networking starts with shared technical problems, customer stories, meetups, professional receptions and AWS Partner events—not collecting the most business cards. Evaluate partner claims independently for competencies, references, pricing, support, data handling and exit options (expo; strategy and leadership).

Evening events and re:Play
The official re:Play party is Thursday, December 3. AWS also lists an expo welcome reception, gaming, partner cocktail hours and an expo happy hour (event experiences). re:Play is included with a full pass; guests need a $350 guest pass and their own badge. Some activities may be first-come, first-served, and the detailed 2026 schedule can change. Choose the events that support your networking goals without sacrificing sleep and the next day’s learning.

Accessibility, meals and practical support
AWS lists accessible seating and transportation across the re:Invent campus, ASL interpretation for sessions and events, mobility devices, sighted-guide service and service-animal accommodations. Meal options include halal, kosher, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and common-allergy choices.
Submit accessibility requests by November 13, 2026 for guaranteed arrangements. Accessible transportation does not include airport transfers; pickup should be requested at least one hour in advance. Contact AWS and your hotel early rather than relying on same-day availability (accessibility services).
Online and on-demand alternatives
People who cannot travel can register for livestreamed keynotes and selected live programming when 2026 registration opens. AWS says keynotes and breakout sessions will be available on demand after presentation. The free virtual Best of AWS re:Invent event offers curated highlights from the prior conference, and the on-demand library provides earlier content.
Virtual access is cheaper and easier for announcement watching and recorded breakouts. It does not reproduce hallway conversations, small-group expert access, hands-on rooms, the expo or in-person networking.

Immediately after registering

Before travel and on arrival
- Confirm final hotel email, badge instructions, venue and transportation details.
- Download the app or save an offline schedule.
- Carry identification and allow time for badge pickup.
- Use buffers for shuttles, walking, queues and meals.
After each day and after returning
- Recheck reservations and next-day travel routes each evening.
- Record decisions, contacts and promised follow-ups.
- Within a week, deliver the agreed team readout with owners and experiments.
- Schedule the certification exam separately if using the voucher.
