ASUS’s compact RTX 5060 desktop is the TUF Gaming T500, also sold as the T500MV or newer TM500 depending on region and model year. It is a roughly 15-liter Windows gaming PC aimed at buyers who want a ready-to-use system for a small desk, dorm room, or shared workspace.
The important qualification is that there is no single universal “T500 RTX 5060” specification. Older 2025 US models use laptop-class Intel processors such as the Core i5-13420H and Core i7-13620H, while ASUS’s newer global TM500 listing includes AMD Ryzen 7 260 configurations and Windows 11 Pro. Check the exact SKU before comparing price, performance, upgradeability, or availability.
ASUS TUF Gaming T500 specifications vary by SKU
ASUS describes the current TM500 as a 15L compact gaming desktop with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, up to 64GB of DDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0 storage, and Windows 11 Pro. The product family has also appeared in regional listings under the T500MV name.

The standalone desktop RTX 5060 was announced by NVIDIA with a starting price of $299. That is the graphics card’s announced starting price, not the price of the complete ASUS desktop. A T500 also includes the processor, motherboard, memory, storage, case, cooling, power supply, Windows license, and warranty.
What the desktop RTX 5060 means for gaming
The T500’s RTX 5060 is a desktop graphics card from NVIDIA’s Blackwell generation. It generally has 8GB of GDDR7 memory in the listed US configurations and supports hardware ray tracing, DLSS 4, and Multi Frame Generation.
That makes the system primarily a 1080p gaming PC. It should also be capable of 1440p gaming when settings are chosen sensibly and supported games use DLSS. Competitive games at high refresh rates are a natural fit, while demanding single-player games may require a combination of reduced settings, upscaling, or ray-tracing compromises.
DLSS and Frame Generation need to be interpreted carefully. Frame Generation can increase the displayed frame rate by inserting AI-generated frames, but it does not create the same improvement in native rendering performance or input response. A game that renders at a low base frame rate may still feel less responsive even when the displayed FPS counter is much higher.
The RTX 5060’s 8GB of VRAM is reasonable for its intended 1080p class, but it is not unlimited. Very demanding games, high-resolution texture packs, ray tracing, and future releases may require lower texture settings or more aggressive upscaling. Do not use ASUS example FPS figures as universal T500 results: ASUS ties such figures to particular higher-end configurations, and performance depends on the exact CPU, memory setup, graphics settings, game version, and use of DLSS or Frame Generation.

The laptop-class CPU is the central compromise
The 2025 US T500MV models use Intel mobile processors despite being desktop systems. The Core i5-13420H and Core i7-13620H can be sensible choices in a small enclosure: they are designed for lower-power systems and help ASUS fit an RTX 5060 into a compact chassis.

They should not, however, be read as equivalent to desktop Core i5 or Core i7 processors with similar branding. The “Core i7” label on the Costco model does not automatically mean desktop Core i7 performance. CPU-limited esports workloads, high-refresh gaming, compiling, rendering, and other heavily threaded tasks can behave differently from GPU-limited AAA games.
For ordinary 1080p gaming, these processors may be adequate partners for the RTX 5060. Buyers who want the highest possible esports frame rates, a powerful workstation CPU, or a conventional socketed desktop platform should compare the T500 with a larger desktop prebuilt or a custom microATX/mini-ITX system.
The newer AMD-based TM500 family should be treated as a separate configuration group rather than combined with the older Intel models. Confirm whether the listing you are considering uses a mobile or desktop-class processor.
How a 15L chassis changes the design
One reported T500MV configuration measures approximately 15.55cm wide, 29.64cm deep, and 35.68cm high. ASUS positions the current TM500 as a system suitable for placement on or under a desk and in small dorm rooms.
Those measurements describe the computer, not the complete space it needs. Leave room behind the system for power, display, Ethernet, and USB cables. Do not press the rear against a wall or block the front and side intake areas. A closed cabinet can trap heat even when the computer technically fits inside it.
The chassis is compact enough to move more easily than a conventional tower, but it is still a mains-powered desktop. It is not a handheld or console-sized device, and its portability should not be confused with battery-powered mobility. Depending on the exact chassis, orientation and ventilation requirements may also differ, so follow the manual for the specific model.
ASUS advertises MIL-STD-810H testing for the current TM500. That refers to testing against specified conditions; it is not a guarantee that the PC is indestructible, spill-proof, or immune to damage from poor ventilation.

A Best Buy listing for the Core i5 model specifies a 330W power supply and explains the design through the combination of a power-efficient laptop-class processor and the RTX 5060’s relatively modest power requirements.

A 330W supply is not automatically inadequate for the components installed by ASUS. It does mean the system should be evaluated as a fixed configuration rather than as a foundation for unrestricted upgrades. A future graphics card with substantially higher power requirements may exceed the supply’s capacity, use different connectors, or fail to fit the chassis and motherboard layout.
The compact enclosure also makes sustained cooling more important than a specification sheet suggests. Without independent testing of the exact SKU, it is not possible to make a reliable claim about fan noise, temperatures, throttling, or sustained clock speeds. Room temperature, dust, cabinet placement, game workload, and firmware settings can all affect results.
Memory, storage, and upgradeability
Most listed US configurations come with 16GB of memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. ASUS’s current TM500 page advertises configurations of up to 64GB, but “up to 64GB” does not establish that every model has the same slots, memory type, or user-accessible layout.

Before buying or opening the case, confirm all of the following for the exact model:
- Whether the memory uses SO-DIMMs or full-size desktop DIMMs.
- How many memory slots are present and whether one or both are occupied.
- The supported memory speed and maximum capacity.
- Whether a second M.2 slot is available.
- Whether the reported 3.5-inch drive bay includes its mounting hardware and SATA cable.
- Which internal components are considered user-serviceable under the warranty terms.
The Costco configuration lists at least one 3.5-inch drive bay, one PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion slot, and one M.2 connector for Wi-Fi. Those details are useful, but they should not be generalized to every T500/TM500 SKU. An expansion slot also does not guarantee that a replacement graphics card will fit, receive enough power, or receive adequate cooling.
For a buyer who expects to add several drives, replace the graphics card, or change the processor later, the compact platform is a compromise. A standard ATX or microATX desktop will usually provide clearer upgrade paths and more component compatibility.

The Costco configuration lists three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI output from the RTX 5060, along with Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and an RGB keyboard and mouse. It does not include a monitor.

The outputs on the graphics card are the relevant ones for gaming; motherboard video outputs may not function with every installed mobile processor. Also check the supported resolution and refresh rate for the monitor you plan to use, and confirm that Wi-Fi antennas and accessories are included in the particular retail bundle.

Who should buy the T500?
Buy it if space is the priority
The T500 makes the most sense for a dorm room, apartment, shared office, or small desk where a conventional tower is inconvenient. It provides a ready-built Windows system, current NVIDIA features, and an RTX 5060 without requiring the buyer to select and assemble every component.
It suits 1080p and mainstream 1440p gaming
For 1080p high-refresh gaming and mainstream AAA titles, the RTX 5060 is the right performance class. 1440p is possible with sensible settings and upscaling, but buyers should not approach the system as a 4K ultra gaming machine.
Creators should assess the whole workload
The RTX 5060 can help with GPU-accelerated editing, rendering, streaming, and creative applications. CPU-heavy workloads may expose the limitations of the mobile processor, while large project libraries may quickly consume a 1TB SSD. Check the application’s CPU, GPU memory, and storage requirements rather than assuming that the gaming specification guarantees workstation performance.

Frequent upgraders should compare the T500 against a larger RTX 5060 prebuilt or a custom build. The 330W supply on the relevant model, compact cooling, nonstandard internal arrangements, and uncertain expansion details make the T500 less attractive as a long-term upgrade platform.
How to compare the price fairly
No single current ASUS US purchase price can be applied to every T500 listing, and retailer availability changes. Compare the exact SKU against larger RTX 5060 systems at the same price, not against a generic “T500.”
The compact ASUS is worth a premium when the smaller footprint, included Windows installation, retailer support, or bundled keyboard and mouse solve a real problem. The premium is harder to justify when a larger desktop offers a stronger standard desktop CPU, better cooling, a more capable power supply, and easier upgrades for similar money.
For comparison, ASUS’s ROG G700 is a much larger 58L tower aimed at buyers who prioritize component capacity and performance rather than compactness. It is not a direct size competitor, but it illustrates why chassis volume, CPU class, cooling, power delivery, and expansion matter as much as the GPU name.

Buyer checklist
- Record the exact model number, not just “TUF T500 RTX 5060.”
- Confirm the CPU and whether it is mobile or desktop class.
- Confirm RTX 5060 VRAM capacity and the exact graphics-board outputs.
- Check the power-supply wattage and connector arrangement.
- Verify memory type, slot count, and maximum supported capacity.
- Check available M.2 and SATA storage connections, including cables and brackets.
- Confirm whether Wi-Fi antennas, keyboard, and mouse are included.
- Check the warranty, service documentation, and return policy.
- Leave ventilation and rear-cable space when measuring the desk.
- Compare the complete system’s price with larger RTX 5060 desktops before purchasing.
Verdict
The ASUS TUF Gaming T500 is a credible compact gaming desktop, but its appeal depends on the exact configuration and the value of saving desk space. An RTX 5060 makes it well suited to 1080p gaming and capable of carefully configured 1440p gaming, while the prebuilt format keeps setup simple.
The trade-offs are equally important: several 2025 models use laptop-class CPUs, the relevant configuration has a 330W power supply, 8GB of VRAM is not especially generous for demanding future games, and internal upgrades may be more limited than they are in a standard desktop.
Buy the T500 when compact size and convenience are worth a reasonable premium. Choose a larger prebuilt or a custom build when quiet sustained cooling, high-end CPU performance, 4K gaming, or substantial future upgrades matter more than the 15L footprint.
