The ASUS ROG Azoth 96 HE is a wireless 96% keyboard with magnetic Hall Effect switches, a 1.47-inch OLED touchscreen and a compact numpad. It is no longer just an announced product: as of August 18, 2026, ASUS’s U.S. store displayed it for $299.99, down from a listed $359.99. That price can change, and the keyboard remains a premium buy best suited to people who will use its adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger features or wireless controls.
What the ROG Azoth 96 HE offers
The Azoth 96 HE combines features that are often separated across gaming keyboards: Hall Effect input, wireless connectivity, a numpad, an onboard OLED interface and a sound-dampened build. It supports USB wired, 2.4GHz ROG SpeedNova wireless and Bluetooth connections, with switching for up to five devices. ASUS specifies polling rates of up to 8,000Hz.
Despite the “mechanical keyboard” shorthand often used for this category, its ROG HFX V2 switches are magnetic rather than conventional contact-based mechanical switches. A Hall sensor detects the switch’s position as it moves. That lets the keyboard respond to how far a key has travelled, rather than only to a fixed contact point.

The Azoth 96 HE adds a numpad and changes to Hall Effect hardware. Its 96% layout packs most full-size functions into a tighter arrangement, but it is still larger than a TKL, 75% or 65% keyboard. ASUS says it is about a centimeter wider than a standard TKL board.

Hall Effect, adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger
With adjustable actuation, you choose how far a key must travel before it registers. The Azoth 96 HE’s stated adjustment range is 0.1mm to 3.5mm, and settings can be assigned per key. A shallow setting can make a key register early; a deeper setting can help avoid accidental presses.
For example, a player might set W, A, S and D to actuate near the top of their travel, then set Space, Ctrl or Shift deeper if those keys are easy to trigger unintentionally. Separate profiles can suit a competitive game, general use and typing. Extremely shallow settings are not automatically better: resting a finger on a key or brushing it can cause an unwanted input.
Rapid Trigger changes when a key resets. Instead of waiting for the key to return to a conventional fixed reset point, it can respond to the key’s movement as it rises, allowing another press sooner. This can help with repeated movement inputs in games, but it does not improve every player’s performance by itself; the feel takes adjustment and practice.

ASUS also offers Speed Tap, a directional-movement feature intended to help players switch directions quickly, along with multi-stage inputs that can assign actions to different points in a keypress. These tools are most relevant to competitive games. Check the rules for your game, league or event before using advanced input features; policies can differ.
Hall Effect does not, on its own, guarantee lower end-to-end latency. Polling rate, wireless mode, firmware, the game and the rest of the system all affect what happens between pressing a key and seeing a result. ASUS’s up-to-8,000Hz specification describes polling, not proof that this is the fastest keyboard in every setup.
What the OLED screen and knob are for
The 1.47-inch full-color touchscreen is more than a place for a logo or animation. ASUS says it can display Caps Lock and connection status, the active PC or Mac profile, battery level, media information, CPU temperature and other system metrics, as well as keystrokes per second and keyboard settings such as Rapid Trigger sensitivity. A three-way control knob and side button provide additional onboard access to controls.

That can be useful if you want to check a setting or status without opening a desktop application. Independent testing by GamesRadar found the screen more functional than displays that primarily show decorative content, in part because it exposes sensitivity and actuation controls. Still, it is not a replacement for full software configuration, and its value depends on whether you will use the information and controls. The screen, lighting and wireless features also add complexity and draw power.
Layout, construction and typing feel
A 96% layout is a compromise: you get a numpad and navigation functions such as Print Screen, Screen Lock, Home and End without the footprint of a conventional full-size board. It is a sensible choice for spreadsheets, data entry or number-heavy work, but it takes more desk space than a smaller layout and leaves less room for mouse movement. If you never use a numpad, the extra width may not be worth it.
The board has a metal top frame and plastic underside, doubleshot PBT keycaps, pre-lubed hot-swappable ROG HFX V2 switches and a silicone gasket mount. ASUS describes six dampening layers—four PORON, one IXPE and one silicone—to reduce vibration and pinging. The switches are rated by ASUS for 100 million keystrokes. That is a manufacturer rating, not a guarantee of real-world lifespan for every unit.

GamesRadar’s review praised the typing feel and acoustic tuning; PC Gamer’s review also described the construction as high quality, while noting that fully machined aluminum cases exist at similar prices. Those are reviewer assessments, not a universal measure of what will feel best to you. The package does not include a wrist rest, according to GamesRadar’s specifications.

Use USB wired or 2.4GHz wireless when gaming is the priority. Bluetooth is convenient for pairing with multiple devices, but it is not the preferred mode for competitive play. ASUS advertises up to 8,000Hz polling in wired and wireless configurations; a high rate may appeal to latency-sensitive players, but the difference will not necessarily be noticeable in every game or system.
Higher polling, RGB lighting, OLED activity and wireless use can increase power demand. Independent tests offer a more realistic sense of runtime than a single blanket figure: GamesRadar reported roughly 45–50 hours over about a week of work and gaming, while PC Gamer reported around 40 hours using out-of-box settings. Results depend on settings and use; neither figure is a universal battery guarantee.

For longer endurance, ASUS’s Zone mode reduces polling for nonessential keys to 250Hz, keeps WASD at 8,000Hz and disables RGB lighting. That trades uniform high polling and lighting for lower power use. If runtime matters more than the maximum polling specification, consider reducing polling and turning off lighting or OLED animations.
Price and whether it is worth it
On August 18, 2026, the ASUS U.S. product page displayed a $299.99 eStore price against a $359.99 reference price. The discount is not permanent; taxes, shipping, stock and reseller pricing can differ. Check the price, regional layout, warranty and return terms at checkout.
At either price, this is a costly keyboard. Its case for the premium is the combination: wireless Hall Effect performance, a numpad, adjustable actuation, onboard controls and a tuned typing experience in one board. If all you want is adjustable actuation or Rapid Trigger, a cheaper wired Hall Effect keyboard may deliver the feature that matters without the OLED, wireless hardware or premium construction. If you need a numpad but not analog inputs, a conventional 96% mechanical keyboard may be a better-value fit. If you like the original Azoth’s wireless design and OLED but do not need Hall Effect switches, GamesRadar identifies that model as the simpler option.
Think through the trade-offs before buying:
- Choose it if you need a numpad, want wireless Hall Effect controls, and will actually configure actuation or Rapid Trigger. It also suits people who value onboard status and controls, multiple-device switching, and a premium typing feel.
- Consider another layout if mouse space matters more than the numpad. The 96% board is compact for its functions, but it is not a small keyboard.
- Save money elsewhere if you play casually, do not plan to tune analog features, prefer conventional switches or do not care about wireless and the screen.
- Check your requirements if you need dedicated macro keys or an included wrist rest: the Azoth 96 HE has no extra macro-button cluster, and no wrist rest is included.
Before you buy or troubleshoot
Because current price and stock can change, confirm them on the store page rather than relying on an old announcement or cached listing. Also verify the regional layout and return policy. If wireless pairing does not work, confirm the correct receiver is connected and test the keyboard over USB; for poor battery life, lower polling and disable RGB or animations. If actuation feels inconsistent, review the selected profile and settings and recalibrate or reset them as appropriate. Finally, confirm that the game recognizes the advanced input behavior as intended.
The available reviews establish strong impressions of feel and report battery tests, but they do not establish a definitive long-term failure rate, a guaranteed software-support period or a complete list of firmware issues. Treat those as unknowns rather than assuming any keyboard is trouble-free.
