The Arzopa Z3FC pairs a sharp 2560×1440 screen with a refresh rate of up to 180Hz, but that top rate requires a compatible USB-C connection carrying DisplayPort video. Its Mini HDMI input tops out at 144Hz, and some devices will need a separate power source. In ServeTheHome’s testing, the Z3FC delivered strong brightness and color for a portable monitor; it is a promising travel gaming and work display, not a substitute for a larger desktop gaming monitor or a calibrated color reference.
What the Arzopa Z3FC offers
The Z3FC is a 16.1-inch, 16:9 IPS portable monitor with a native resolution of 2560×1440, commonly called QHD or 2.5K. Its standout specification is a maximum 180Hz refresh rate over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. Arzopa lists a lower maximum of 144Hz when using Mini HDMI. Those are connection ceilings, not guarantees: the source device, port, cable, graphics driver, and display settings must all support the chosen resolution and refresh rate.
Arzopa lists two USB-C ports, one Mini HDMI 2.0 input, HDR10 support, FreeSync, a built-in kickstand, stereo speakers rated at 2×1W, and aluminum-alloy construction. The manufacturer specifies 780g (about 1.72lb) weight and 9.3mm thickness, and says the monitor has no VESA mounting holes. Its product listing gives a 400 cd/m² brightness claim and 1000:1 contrast ratio. HDR10 and FreeSync are feature claims; they do not, by themselves, establish HDR picture quality, a particular variable-refresh range, or measured gaming responsiveness. Arzopa’s Z3FC listing
The 180Hz catch: ports, cables, and power
For the advertised 180Hz mode, use USB-C video through DisplayPort Alt Mode. A USB-C socket that supports charging or data only is not enough, and not every laptop, phone, handheld, dock, or cable can carry QHD at 180Hz. Over Mini HDMI, the manufacturer lists up to 144Hz. Check the source device’s output specifications and the refresh-rate options available in its display settings rather than assuming the monitor will reach its maximum.

Important cable distinction: ServeTheHome reported that the two USB-C cables supplied with its review sample were not interchangeable: one carried video as well as power, while the other was for power only. The full-feature cable was identifiable by its angled connector; the power-only cable was marked accordingly. Use the full-feature cable for USB-C video. Arzopa’s current product listing says the package includes the monitor, sleeve, two USB-C cables, a Mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable, and a quick-start guide. ServeTheHome said its review sample did not include a Mini-HDMI cable, so package contents appear to differ by sample or package version. Check the exact retail listing and box contents before relying on that cable being included. Arzopa’s current bundle listing
Connecting over USB-C
- Connect the host’s video-capable USB-C port to either monitor USB-C port with the full-feature cable.
- If the host supplies enough power, one cable may carry both video and power. If the monitor flickers, shuts down, or does not start reliably, connect a second USB-C cable to a suitable charger or power bank.
- Set the display to 2560×1440 in the operating system, then choose the highest refresh rate the host and connection offer. Confirm whether 180Hz is actually available.
Connecting over Mini HDMI
- Connect the source’s HDMI output to the monitor’s Mini HDMI input using the included cable if your package has one, or a compatible Mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable.
- Provide power separately through USB-C. HDMI carries the picture, not the monitor’s operating power.
- Select the Mini HDMI input with the monitor controls. Expect a maximum of 144Hz, subject to the source and cable.
Arzopa specifically recommends separate USB-C power for HDMI sources and devices that cannot supply enough power, including consoles. A Nintendo Switch setup using its dock, for example, is an HDMI connection and needs the monitor powered separately. Manufacturer specifications and independent measurements are not the same thing. Arzopa claims 400 cd/m² brightness and 107% sRGB gamut. ServeTheHome measured a maximum of 409 nits and 99% sRGB coverage in its test, with an average color error of 1.20 dE. Cyan was the notable weakness, exceeding 6 dE. The review also measured 47.2 nits at 0% brightness, 141.4 at 25%, 232.0 at 50%, and 320.0 at 75%. Power draw ranged from 5.9W at minimum brightness to 11.8W at maximum under its test conditions. - Brightness: Around 409 nits is useful for bright indoor rooms and may help in some outdoor settings, but glare and reflections still matter. It does not guarantee comfortable viewing in direct sunlight.
- Color: 99% sRGB coverage and a 1.20 dE average are good results for general work, gaming, and non-critical content creation. The cyan error and lack of cited factory-calibration evidence mean it should not be treated as a color-reference display for final photo, design, or video decisions.
- Power: Nearly 12W at maximum brightness is manageable for many USB-C chargers and power banks, but it is enough that a laptop or handheld’s USB-C port may not power it reliably in every setup. Arzopa lists 12.9W as the monitor’s power rating; ServeTheHome’s 11.8W is a measurement from its own test.
The 107% sRGB manufacturer figure and ServeTheHome’s 99% measurement should be read as results from different specifications and measurement methods, not as directly comparable numbers. The same caution applies to claimed feature labels such as HDR10: the available review measurements do not establish HDR brightness performance or local dimming.
Gaming: fast for a portable screen, with limits
QHD at 180Hz is an unusual combination in a portable display, and it can make the Z3FC appealing for laptop gaming or a handheld-PC desk setup. The extra resolution gives a sharper image than the common 1080p portable-monitor class; the high refresh ceiling can make motion look smoother when the source can render and output at a high frame rate. FreeSync is listed by Arzopa, but the available ServeTheHome coverage does not establish a tested variable-refresh range, input lag, response time, or ghosting performance.
That distinction matters: a 180Hz input mode does not prove that pixel transitions are fast enough to make every game look clear, nor that latency is suitable for competitive play. Treat it as a useful specification, not a complete gaming-performance score. QHD also asks more of the GPU than 1080p, and many consoles and handhelds will not output 2560×1440 at 180Hz. The 16.1-inch screen is convenient on a table or while travelling, but small as a primary gaming display. Its built-in speakers are listed at 2×1W and may cover basic audio needs; there is no independent sound-quality testing in the cited review to support treating them as a replacement for headphones or dedicated speakers.

Work, travel, and physical design
At 2560×1440, the Z3FC provides more workspace and sharper text than a 1080p portable monitor of similar size. If text looks too small, try the operating system’s 125% or 150% scaling options and adjust for your viewing distance. Its 16:9 shape is familiar for video and broadly compatible with laptops and consoles, though a 16:10 panel can show more document or code content vertically.
The built-in kickstand makes the monitor easy to prop up without a separate case; ServeTheHome described a viewing-angle range up to about 80 degrees. The stand is not a protective cover, so use the supplied sleeve when carrying it. At a listed 780g, the display is portable, but its weight plus cables, sleeve, and any separate charger or power bank should be part of your travel calculation. It lacks VESA mounting, and a riser or separate stand may improve ergonomics for longer desk sessions.
Dimensions also vary by source: Arzopa lists about 366×228×9.3mm, while ServeTheHome described its unit at roughly 13.0×0.39×8.0 inches. Those figures do not directly match, so use the manufacturer’s listing for stated dimensions and do not combine the two sets as though they were identical measurements.

- Laptops and MacBooks: A USB-C connection can be the simplest setup if that specific port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Some USB-C ports do not carry display output. HDMI works with separate monitor power and has a stated 144Hz ceiling.
- Steam Deck and other handheld PCs: Confirm that the handheld or dock supports external display output. A USB-C video connection requires DisplayPort Alt Mode; a powered dock or separate USB-C supply may be needed if the handheld cannot power the screen reliably.
- PS5, Xbox, and Switch: Plan on HDMI for video and separate USB-C power for the monitor. The source device’s supported output modes determine the available resolution and refresh rate.
- Phones: USB-C on the phone does not guarantee external-display output. Check the phone’s display-output support before buying. A USB-C-to-HDMI cable is also not the same as a USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode connection to the monitor.
Arzopa lists compatibility with laptops, desktops, consoles, Steam Deck, and compatible handhelds, but the actual setup depends on each host’s video output and power capability. Arzopa’s compatibility information

Common problems and fixes
The monitor turns on, then shuts off or flickers
- For USB-C video, verify that you are using the full-feature cable, not the power-only cable.
- Add power from a suitable USB-C charger or power bank. If connected by HDMI, power the monitor separately regardless.
- Try a direct connection rather than a hub or dock, and temporarily reduce brightness to see whether insufficient power is the issue.
- Check the host’s graphics output settings and test with a different supported cable or port if available.
Only 60Hz appears in display settings
Confirm that the host supports high refresh at 2560×1440, the USB-C port carries DisplayPort video, and the cable is full-featured. A hub, adapter, or dock may impose a lower limit. Set the operating system to the monitor’s native resolution and recheck available refresh rates. Mini HDMI is listed for up to 144Hz, but the source and cable must still support the selected mode.
The picture is unstable or not bright enough
Add external USB-C power, try a charger or power bank with adequate capacity, and test at lower brightness or refresh rate. Avoid assuming a laptop port or bus-powered hub can supply all the power the monitor needs.

Should you buy the Z3FC?
Choose the Z3FC if you specifically want QHD sharpness and a high refresh ceiling in a portable screen, have a device with USB-C DisplayPort output or a suitable HDMI connection, and can provide separate power when needed. It is most compelling as a shared travel display for gaming and work, rather than as a universal one-cable accessory.
Consider the Arzopa Z1FC if 1080p is enough for documents, email, coding, and ordinary second-screen use. Arzopa lists that 16.1-inch model at 1920×1080, 144Hz, and 300 nits; it sacrifices resolution and some brightness for a lower-cost option. For productivity-first use, the Z1RC is a 16-inch, 2560×1600 16:10 display listed at 60Hz and 350 nits, trading gaming speed for more vertical workspace. A conventional desktop monitor is a better fit if portability is not important and you want a larger screen, VESA mounting, or more desk-friendly ergonomics.
Arzopa’s US pages have shown promotional Z3FC prices in roughly the $120–$145 range, but those listings are volatile and are not a guaranteed current price. Compare the checkout price with lower-resolution alternatives, and verify the package contents, return window, and warranty terms for your region before ordering.
