For the reported 2025 U.S. Black Friday deals, Amazon usually offered the better immediate price on Apple hardware. Apple’s promotion mostly bundled an Apple Gift Card with a purchase instead of lowering the product’s checkout price. That can still be a good deal if you are certain you will spend the credit on Apple products or services—but it is not automatically equivalent to cash savings.
Black Friday 2026 has not happened as of September 13, 2026, so the prices and gift-card amounts below are historical 2025 examples, not current offers.

Apple’s Black Friday offer was a rebate, not an instant discount
During its reported U.S. shopping event from November 28 through December 1, 2025, Apple generally gave shoppers an Apple Gift Card when they bought selected products. The hardware’s sticker price was not necessarily reduced at checkout.
Reported promotional card values included $50 with the base iPad and iPad mini, $100 with the iPad Air, $100 with the Mac mini, $175 with the 13-inch MacBook Air, $200 with the 15-inch MacBook Air, and $250 with selected MacBook Pro models. Other reported values included $75 for iPhone 16 and AirPods Max, $50 for Apple Watch models, $25 for AirPods 4 and Apple TV 4K, and $25–$50 for selected Beats products.

These figures came from reported 2025 promotional coverage. Apple has not confirmed that it will repeat the same products or amounts for Black Friday 2026.
Why Amazon often won on price
The fairest comparison separates immediate savings from future purchasing power:
Apple effective cost = Apple checkout price − realistic value of the gift card
Amazon effective cost = Amazon sale price
For example, if Apple charges $999 and includes a $100 gift card, the effective cost is $899 only if you will actually use the entire $100. If Amazon sells the identical configuration for $849, Amazon remains $50 cheaper even after giving Apple’s card its full face value.

If you are unsure whether you will use the card, assign it a reduced value. A simple consumer estimate is:
Realistic Apple value = gift-card value × expected-use percentage
At 70% expected use, a $100 card is worth $70 in your comparison—not because Apple officially discounts it, but because unused credit has no practical value to you.

Which categories favored Amazon?
The reported retailer advantage was particularly strong in several categories:
- iPads: Amazon markdowns of roughly $100–$150 exceeded Apple’s $50–$100 cards on several models.
- Apple Watch: Reported cuts of about $90 on Apple Watch SE 2 and $200 on Apple Watch Ultra 2 exceeded Apple’s $50 card.
- Macs: Reported reductions reached roughly $250–$500 on some configurations, often more than Apple’s promotional credit.
- AirPods and Beats: Reported discounts of $120 on AirPods Max and $180 on Beats Studio Pro were larger than Apple’s $75 and $50 cards.
- Accessories: AirTags were reportedly discounted at Amazon despite not being part of Apple’s main offer.
When Apple can still be the better purchase
Amazon’s lower checkout price does not settle every comparison. Apple can make more sense when:

- The price difference is smaller than the gift card’s usable value.
- You need a specific build-to-order Mac configuration that third-party retailers do not stock.
- You value Apple’s direct sales, pickup, engraving, or retail-service experience.
- You want to handle the transaction directly with Apple rather than through a marketplace seller.
- The retailer’s cheaper listing is an older generation, different storage tier, different connectivity model, or different condition.
- You are using Apple-specific financing or another purchasing arrangement that changes the total value.

Do not compare mismatched listings
A headline price is useful only when the two products are genuinely equivalent. Before declaring Amazon cheaper, match:
- Generation and chip
- Screen size
- Storage capacity
- Memory configuration
- Wi-Fi versus cellular connectivity
- GPS versus cellular Apple Watch model
- New versus refurbished or renewed condition
- U.S. model and warranty eligibility
- Seller and fulfillment source
- Included chargers, cables, keyboards, or other accessories
Amazon is a marketplace as well as a retailer. Check whether the listing is sold by Amazon, Apple, or another seller; whether it is fulfilled by Amazon; whether it is new; and whether the return terms are acceptable.

Buying from Amazon does not automatically remove Apple warranty or service rights. A genuine new Apple product purchased through an eligible channel may receive Apple warranty coverage under Apple’s applicable terms. However, Amazon handles the transaction, shipment, seller relationship, and its own return process. Verify the individual listing rather than assuming every Amazon offer has the same support path.

Apple’s checkout and refund treatment may show the device and promotional card as separate components. Do not assume you can return the qualifying product while keeping the card. The terms for the specific promotion control the result, so retain the card and review Apple’s payments and refunds guidance before returning anything.

Apple’s ordinary price-protection policies should not be treated as a promise to match limited-time Black Friday reductions. Apple’s help materials exclude special sales events and limited-time price reductions from ordinary price-protection treatment.
Apple Gift Card restrictions that affect the calculation
An Apple Gift Card is useful, but it is not cash. In the U.S., Apple states that gift cards:
- Can be used for eligible Apple products, accessories, apps, media, subscriptions, and services.
- Cannot be used at independent Apple resellers.
- Cannot be used to purchase another Apple Gift Card.
- Generally cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law.
- Usually cannot be used outside the applicable country or region.
- May be difficult or impossible to recover if lost or stolen after redemption.
Apple also lists gift-card denominations and usage limits that can vary by purchase method. Its guidance says up to eight cards can be used at Apple.com or by phone and up to 20 in one Apple Store transaction. Check the current gifting help page and Apple Value Services terms for details.

Choose the retailer when:
Apple price − retailer price > usable Apple Gift Card value
In other words, if Apple costs $150 more and includes a $100 card, the retailer is still $50 cheaper even if you use every dollar of the card. If Apple costs only $60 more and you will certainly use a $100 card, Apple may be the better overall value.
For the lowest immediate cash price, choose the identical new configuration with the lowest delivered total, including tax and shipping. For Apple, also subtract only the portion of the gift card you realistically expect to use.
Verdict by shopper type
- Lowest cash price: Amazon or another established retailer usually deserves priority, provided the listing is equivalent and trustworthy.
- Guaranteed future Apple spending: Compare effective totals. Apple may close or reverse the gap if you will use the full card.
- Specific custom Mac: Apple may be worth the premium for a build-to-order configuration unavailable elsewhere.
- Uncertain gift recipient: Prefer the lower immediate price rather than assigning full value to credit you may not use.
- Marketplace-risk sensitive: Apple or an established retailer may be preferable even when Amazon’s headline price is lower.
The bottom line
In the reported 2025 U.S. examples, Amazon’s direct discounts generally beat Apple’s promotional gift-card values in cash terms. Apple’s offer becomes competitive only when the card is genuinely useful to you, the configurations match, and Apple’s direct-purchase benefits matter. Do not treat a $100 gift card as an automatic $100 discount—and do not treat every Amazon listing as an equivalent product.
