Yes. Apple Music can be streamed inside several DJ platforms, including Algoriddim djay, Serato DJ Pro and Lite, and AlphaTheta rekordbox. But this is not a universal feature, and an Apple Music subscription does not give you downloadable, freely reusable DJ files. App version, device, territory, internet access and supported hardware all matter.
What Apple Music integration means for DJs
“Apple Music integration” describes access to Apple Music from inside a particular DJ app or compatible system. It does not mean the Apple Music app itself has become DJ software, nor that every controller can browse its catalog.
It helps to distinguish three kinds of music:
- Subscription-streamed tracks: songs loaded from the Apple Music catalog through a supported DJ application. Access depends on an active subscription and, in the documented workflows, an internet connection.
- Your Apple Music library: playlists and personal library items surfaced through an integration. A locally imported, cloud-matched or uploaded file is not the same thing as a subscription-streamed catalog track; how personal files appear depends on account and library configuration.
- Locally owned files: compatible audio files you have acquired and stored for use in your DJ library. These are the more dependable option when you need to perform without internet access, subject to the file and applicable rights.
With supported streaming access, DJs can generally search for tracks, load them onto decks and mix them using the features available in that specific app. That does not automatically mean they can record, export, publish or monetize a mix made from those streams.

Catalog size and availability can change. Algoriddim and AlphaTheta have described Apple Music access as covering more than 100 million tracks; that does not guarantee every track is available in every country or will remain available. Algoriddim’s streaming-service documentation and AlphaTheta’s launch announcement describe their respective integrations.

The djay integration launched on February 2, 2024. AlphaTheta announced rekordbox support on March 25, 2025, naming desktop and iOS versions and the OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ hardware. Its announcement described Android support as forthcoming at the time; current rekordbox Android FAQs now list Apple Music among supported services. Check the latest compatibility information for your country, operating system and exact device before relying on it.
How to set up Apple Music in Serato
Serato DJ Pro and Serato DJ Lite both require version 3.3.0 or later for Apple Music streaming. You also need an active Apple Music subscription and an internet connection.
- Update and open Serato DJ Pro or Lite.
- Open Setup, then go to Library + Display.
- Open Music Streaming and enable Show Streaming Services if it is off.
- Select Apple Music, then choose Sign up / Login to Apple Music.
- Complete sign-in in the browser. When prompted, allow the browser to return to Serato.
- Use the Streaming Search button beside the search field to find Apple Music tracks.

If Serato does not connect or show tracks
- Confirm the Apple Music subscription is active on the account used to authenticate in the browser.
- Check that Serato is version 3.3.0 or later and that Show Streaming Services is enabled.
- Finish the browser redirect and approve the request to reopen Serato.
- Verify the computer has internet access. Apple Music streams cannot be played offline in Serato.
- If a personal file is missing, check Apple Music cloud-library settings separately. Personal matched or uploaded files and subscription streams are different library sources; see Serato’s library configuration guide.
Downloading a song in the consumer Apple Music app should not be taken to mean that it is available for offline DJ use in Serato.
How to connect Apple Music in djay
Algoriddim’s general workflow is to connect an Apple Music account from the music library or streaming-services area in djay. Install the current djay app for your operating system, choose Apple Music as a source, sign in and grant the requested account access. Your catalog and personal playlists should then appear for browsing and loading to a deck. Menu names can vary across releases and platforms, so use Algoriddim’s current streaming help if the labels differ.
djay includes performance tools such as two- and four-deck mixing, Automix, loops, effects and hardware integration, but source restrictions matter: Algoriddim says Neural Mix is unavailable for Apple Music tracks and mix recording is disabled when using streaming services other than djay Music. Do not assume every feature shown in the app works with every source.

Using Apple Music with rekordbox and AlphaTheta hardware
AlphaTheta added Apple Music to rekordbox for Mac/Windows 7.1.0 and iOS 4.4.0 in March 2025. Its current FAQs also list the service for Android. An active Apple Music subscription is required, and streaming tracks need an internet connection. Mobile users should note that Apple Music tracks cannot be played offline in rekordbox, as stated in the iOS streaming FAQ and Android streaming FAQ.

AlphaTheta says these systems can connect to Apple Music over the internet, load tracks and playlists, and analyze BPM and grid. It also said StreamingDirectPlay on those devices could be used without a rekordbox subscription. Confirm current firmware, region and service support before a performance; do not extrapolate this compatibility to another controller or standalone unit.
AlphaTheta also introduced an Apple Music DJ Mix Curator page with DJ-curated mixes and unmixed playlists. These can help listeners study a set’s sequence or find tracks to explore; they do not make the tracks downloadable DJ files. AlphaTheta notes that minors on an Apple Music Family plan may be unable to use the service because of Apple restrictions. See its announcement and current mobile FAQs for details.

What you can—and cannot—do with streamed tracks
- Search, load and mix: Supported integrations let you find catalog tracks and use them on decks, with the available cueing, beatmatching, looping, EQ and effects features varying by app and source.
- Use playlists: Serato supports Apple Music playlist synchronization, including playlists created or edited in Serato. Other library and playlist behaviors depend on the app’s current integration.
- Practice and discover: A large catalog makes it convenient to experiment with transitions or explore music without separately acquiring each track.
- Use stems: Not universally. djay specifically excludes Neural Mix for Apple Music tracks.
- Perform offline: Do not count on Apple Music streams as an offline library. Serato explicitly requires an active connection; rekordbox mobile explicitly does not support offline playback of Apple Music tracks. Check the exact platform for other behavior.
- Record or publish: Do not infer permission or technical capability from the ability to mix. In djay, recording is disabled for streaming services other than djay Music. The cited Serato and rekordbox documentation establishes streaming and mixing access, not unrestricted recording, export, upload, sale or monetization rights.
Apple Music integration is primarily a way to stream tracks into compatible DJ software and hardware. It should not be treated as a blanket license to export, upload, sell or redistribute recordings made from those streams. Check the applicable service and software terms and obtain any permissions required for a particular use.

It can be useful in the right setup, but streaming adds failure points that a locally stored library does not have. A track may be unavailable in your territory, a playlist or catalog item may change, a subscription can lapse, or the venue’s connection can fail. App and hardware support also need to match the system you will actually use.

- Learning at home: A convenient way to try tracks and practice transitions, especially if your current DJ app supports Apple Music.
- Casual party: Reasonable as a source if you have confirmed the setup and have reliable internet. Keep important requests or set tracks available locally as a fallback.
- Mobile or event DJing: Riskier if the connection depends on venue Wi-Fi or mobile coverage. Test the actual route and hardware, and carry a local backup library.
- Club or touring work: Treat streaming as supplemental unless the venue, connection, account, hardware and exact workflow have all been tested. A separately acquired, locally stored library is the safer performance foundation.
Before an event, sign in, confirm the tracks and playlists appear, test the controller or standalone system, verify the network where you will perform, and prepare local backups for essential music. Never assume a track cached or downloaded in the consumer Apple Music app is available to the DJ software offline.

Apple Music or a DJ-focused streaming service?
Apple Music is attractive if you already subscribe and want broad catalog access for practice, discovery or a supplemental set source. A DJ-focused service may be a better match if your priority is a particular genre, DJ-oriented catalog organization or service-specific performance features. Compatibility and offline options vary by service, app, plan and country, so check the current requirements rather than assuming one provider works everywhere.
- TIDAL: Worth comparing if you want a service explicitly positioned for DJ use; some software integrations require a DJ Extension.
- Beatport Streaming: A natural option to investigate for electronic-music discovery and genre-focused DJ catalogs.
- SoundCloud DJ: May suit sets built around independent, underground, edit and remix material, though track availability and feature support vary.
- Beatsource: A DJ-oriented option to consider for open-format and mainstream sets.
Algoriddim lists TIDAL, SoundCloud, Beatport and Beatsource alongside Apple Music in its streaming-service information; some require particular paid tiers, such as TIDAL’s DJ Extension, SoundCloud Go+ or paid Beatport/Beatsource plans. Compare the exact service support in your DJ software before subscribing. Multiple subscriptions can add cost without solving an offline or licensing requirement.
What you need before choosing
- An active Apple Music subscription: Required for the integrations described here; app availability and account eligibility can vary.
- Compatible, updated DJ software: Serato requires DJ Pro or Lite 3.3.0 or later. rekordbox launched desktop support in 7.1.0 and iOS support in 4.4.0; check current requirements for your platform.
- Compatible hardware, if using a controller or standalone unit: Software access does not guarantee direct streaming from every piece of hardware. Verify the precise model and firmware.
- Reliable internet for streams: If the connection drops, streaming tracks may stop or become unavailable. Mobile Apple Music playback in rekordbox is not offline.
- A local backup library for important performances: Streaming is useful convenience, not a replacement for files you have acquired and stored for offline use.
- Permission for any recorded mix: Streaming access does not itself grant blanket distribution or monetization rights. Check relevant service, software and rights terms.
The practical choice is straightforward: choose djay for a mobile-friendly, cross-platform entry point; Serato if you already use Serato and can stay online; and rekordbox if it fits your AlphaTheta/Pioneer workflow. Choose locally stored music for dependable offline performance, and verify the exact recording and distribution rules before sharing a mix.
