Apple Downtown Detroit opened on Friday, September 19, 2025, the same day Apple began selling the iPhone 17 lineup in stores. The location at 1430 Woodward Avenue is Apple’s first store in downtown Detroit; the opening is a completed event, not an upcoming one.
When and where the store opened
Apple announced the opening date on September 17, then documented the store’s launch on September 19. Contemporary reporting put the public grand opening at 5 p.m. local time; Apple confirmed the date but did not state that time in its announcement. The store’s opening therefore coincided with iPhone launch day, but that does not mean its doors opened at the same hour as every other Apple Store.
The address is 1430 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226, near the Shinola Hotel and Grand River Avenue. Apple lists the store phone number as (313) 230-2195. Apple described it as its first store in downtown Detroit—not necessarily its first location anywhere in the wider Detroit metropolitan area. (Apple’s opening announcement; store page)

Products launched that day
September 19 was also the in-store launch date for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, alongside Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 3, and AirPods Pro 3. Apple’s launch coverage connected the new Downtown Detroit store opening with those product arrivals. A Detroit-themed opening
Apple marked the occasion with Detroit-specific creative, including a stylized “D” worked into Apple-logo artwork and a chrome visual treatment used in opening materials and downloadable wallpaper. Apple services also featured Detroit-themed music and television collections. These were opening-related tributes to the city, not evidence that the artwork became a permanent architectural feature.

What customers can do there
The store offers Apple product shopping and specialist advice, online order pickup, Genius Bar appointments, Today at Apple sessions, Apple Vision Pro demonstrations, setup help, and repair and support services. For a repair or technical issue, check appointment options before traveling; bring relevant device and account information, and be prepared to verify ownership for certain account or activation-lock problems. For a purchase, check the store’s live inventory and pickup availability rather than assuming a particular configuration is in stock.
