ApiFlash is the better fit for a straightforward image-capture endpoint when its documented request model, burst capacity and price at your volume work for you. ScreenshotAPI.net is the better fit when you need documented PDF output, bulk processing, storage integrations or tier-specific automation. If you want a third option to try first, ScreenshotNeo leads this comparison because it removes common page clutter before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan.
The right decision depends on output format, monthly volume, peak traffic, recurring jobs and the amount of workflow code you want to maintain. The published figures below are provider plan terms checked in 2026, not independent benchmark results.
Quick verdict
| Service | Best for | Published strengths | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | Clean production screenshots and AI-agent workflows | Consent and popup removal, only clean shots billed, MCP server, 1,000 free shots and $5/3,000 paid plan | Evaluate its options and API behavior against your exact integration |
| ApiFlash | Simple image capture with bursty traffic | PNG, JPEG and WebP; 20 requests/second; burst size 400 | No comparable native bulk or scheduling workflow is documented in the reviewed pages |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | PDF, bulk and storage-oriented automation | URL-to-PDF, bulk capture, storage integrations, scheduling and tiered scrolling/video features | Throughput is plan-based at 20, 40 or 80 requests per minute; features vary by tier |
For ApiFlash and ScreenshotAPI.net specifically, choose ApiFlash for a mostly image-only endpoint and choose ScreenshotAPI.net when its PDF, bulk or storage features remove separate engineering work. Neither provider can be declared the performance winner: the reviewed material contains no controlled head-to-head test of latency, uptime or rendering accuracy.
What each API actually provides
ApiFlash
ApiFlash exposes GET https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage and supports POST requests. You authenticate with an access key. The normal response is image data; JSON mode can return links. Its documented image formats are PNG, JPEG and WebP. See the official API documentation for request parameters, response behavior and quota details.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- Auto-Light Balance: RightLight boosts brightness by up to 50%, reducing shadows so you look your best—compared to previous-generation Logitech webcams (1)
- Privacy with a Slide: The integrated webcam cover makes it easy to get total, reliable privacy when you're not on a video call
- Built-In Mic: The built-in microphone lets others hear you clearly during video calls
- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
ApiFlash documents a leaky-bucket limit of 20 requests per second with a burst capacity of 400. Requests above the sustainable rate are delayed while capacity exists; traffic beyond the burst can receive HTTP 429. That model suits an interactive product that occasionally sends a large spike, provided your queue handles throttling.
ScreenshotAPI.net
ScreenshotAPI.net provides hosted URL capture with image output and PDF workflows. Its Get Started documentation describes output and configuration, while the features page lists capabilities such as URL-to-PDF, HTML-to-PDF, bulk screenshots, text/HTML extraction and cloud-storage integrations.
The current pricing table lists 20 requests per minute on Essential, 40 on Startup and 80 on Business. Scrolling screenshots and video rendering are not listed for Essential but are listed for Startup and Business. Bulk limits shown are 200 URLs at once on Essential, 1,000 on Startup and unlimited on Business. Confirm the exact tier before committing because plan tables and feature pages can change independently.
Pricing at comparable monthly volumes
| Monthly allowance | ApiFlash | ScreenshotAPI.net |
|---|---|---|
| Free or trial | 100 captures free | 100 captures on a seven-day trial |
| 1,000 captures | $7/month | $9/month |
| 10,000 captures | $35/month | $29/month |
| 100,000 captures | $180/month | $175/month |
These are the providers’ currently listed prices, checked in 2026. ApiFlash is cheaper at the 1,000-capture tier; ScreenshotAPI.net lists lower prices at 10,000 and 100,000. That does not establish a universal cheapest service: promotional displays, annual terms, overages and plan-specific rules can change the effective bill. ScreenshotAPI.net’s terms describe recurring billing, no rollover of unused calls and possible stop or overage behavior after a monthly limit.
Rate limits: compare your traffic shape, not the headline number
Interactive and bursty requests
ApiFlash’s 20-per-second limit and burst size of 400 allow a short surge that would overwhelm a per-minute quota. For example, a link-preview service might be idle and then receive hundreds of URLs after an import. You still need a queue, retry policy and a maximum concurrency setting so a 429 does not become a retry storm.

- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- Crisp HD 720p/30 fps video calls with diagonal 55° field of view and auto light correction. Compatible with popular platforms including Skype and Zoom.
- The built-in noise-reducing mic makes sure your voice comes across clearly up to 1.5 meters away, even if you’re in busy surroundings.
- C270’s RightLight 2 feature adjusts to lighting conditions, producing brighter, contrasted images to help you look good in all your conference calls.
- The adjustable universal clip lets you attach the camera securely to your screen or laptop, or fold the clip and set the webcam on a shelf. You’re always ready for your next video call.
Scheduled and sustained batches
ScreenshotAPI.net’s 20, 40 or 80 requests per minute are easier to model for scheduled jobs. At 20 requests per minute, 1,000 URLs require at least 50 minutes before retries and rendering time; at 80 per minute, the same theoretical minimum is 12.5 minutes. Those are arithmetic lower bounds, not measured completion times. Distribute jobs over time rather than assuming a plan can absorb a sudden burst.
Translate limits into an operating plan
- Estimate your monthly URLs, then separate average rate from the largest five-minute spike.
- Reserve capacity for retries, redirects and pages that need a second attempt.
- Use exponential backoff for 429 responses and honor any provider quota headers.
- For recurring audits, schedule batches inside the published per-minute limit instead of launching all URLs concurrently.
Output and workflow differences
When images are enough
ApiFlash’s PNG, JPEG and WebP set covers browser previews, social cards, visual regression artifacts and downloadable images. Its documented JSON mode can return links rather than placing image bytes directly in the response, which can simplify a pipeline that stores URLs.
When you need PDFs
ScreenshotAPI.net documents URL-to-PDF and HTML-to-PDF. If your deliverable is an invoice, report or print-ready page, native PDF generation can eliminate a separate browser or conversion service. Check paper, page-range and layout controls in the current plan documentation before choosing a tier.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBulk, storage and recurring automation
ScreenshotAPI.net advertises bulk capture, scheduling and cloud-storage integrations. Its pricing page confirms bulk limits of 200, 1,000 or unlimited URLs by displayed plan. The ApiFlash pages reviewed here document the capture endpoint and quota behavior but do not establish an equivalent native bulk or scheduling workflow. That means you may need to build queueing, storage and scheduling around ApiFlash yourself; it does not prove that such integrations are impossible.
Quota accounting, caching and failed pages
ApiFlash’s FAQ says cached and failed captures do not count toward quota. ScreenshotAPI.net’s help material says failed renders do not count and that only unique or fresh screenshots count. “Cached” and “fresh” can depend on URL, options and cache policy, so verify the exact semantics for your parameters. Instrument your application with request IDs, status codes and provider usage data rather than estimating consumption from your own URL count.

Implementation patterns
ApiFlash request
curl -G "https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage"
-d access_key="$APIFLASH_ACCESS_KEY"
--data-urlencode url="https://example.com"
-d format=webp
-o shot.webp
Keep the access key on your server, not in browser JavaScript. Add your viewport, full-page and other documented options explicitly so a cache key represents the capture you intend.
ScreenshotAPI.net request
Use the parameter names and authentication shown in the provider’s current documentation. For a production integration, validate the returned content type before saving it, set a request timeout, and record whether the result is an image or PDF. Bulk jobs should be submitted in batches no larger than your plan’s displayed limit.

Reliability checklist
- Set a client timeout longer than your normal page-render budget, but cap it so hung pages do not consume all workers.
- Retry only transient failures and 429 responses; do not blindly retry authentication or invalid-parameter errors.
- Use idempotent job identifiers for scheduled captures so a retry cannot create duplicate records.
- Store the requested URL, options, response status, content type and billing/quota headers for diagnosis.
- Test pages with consent dialogs, lazy images, redirects, authentication and unusual fonts before production rollout.
Which service should you choose?
Choose ApiFlash when
- Your output is PNG, JPEG or WebP and you do not need native PDF generation.
- Your traffic is mostly on-demand and benefits from a documented 20-request-per-second rate with a 400-request burst.
- The $7, $35 or $180 monthly tier fits your actual allowance better than the alternatives.
- You are comfortable adding your own queue, scheduler or storage integration.
Choose ScreenshotAPI.net when
- PDF output, HTML-to-PDF, bulk URL capture or cloud storage is a core requirement.
- Your workload is naturally scheduled and fits the plan’s 20, 40 or 80 requests per minute.
- You need scrolling screenshots or video rendering available on Startup or Business rather than Essential.
- The listed $29/10,000 or $175/100,000 tiers are more economical for your volume, after checking current terms.
Try ScreenshotNeo first when clean captures matter
ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to test when raw browser output is not acceptable. Before capture it accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.
It also provides an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients, with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools. Its API supports full-page and element captures, 12 device presets plus custom viewports, retina scale, dark mode, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, selector waits, delays, network-idle waits, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable caching, signed links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification.
Plans include 1,000 free shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Every feature is on every plan. The direct call is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details. Sign up free to get 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.

Common failure modes and fixes
HTTP 401 or 403
Usually the access key is missing, malformed, revoked or being sent from an unsafe client. Move credentials to a server-side environment variable, verify the endpoint and rotate the key if necessary.
HTTP 429 or throttling
ApiFlash may be beyond its sustained bucket or burst; ScreenshotAPI.net may be beyond the plan’s per-minute limit. Queue requests, reduce concurrency, apply exponential backoff and purchase a tier whose published limit matches the peak.
Blank or incomplete pages
Check whether the target requires JavaScript, waits for lazy images, authentication, a specific user agent or a longer render delay. Capture a diagnostic URL with the same options and preserve the response metadata. A provider’s failed-render accounting does not make a blank result useful to your application.
Unexpected billing or quota use
Compare provider usage records with your request log, including cache-affecting options. ApiFlash states cached and failed captures do not count; ScreenshotAPI.net states failed renders do not count and only unique or fresh screenshots count. Ask support about any case that does not match those published rules.
FAQ
Is ScreenshotAPI.net always cheaper?
No. ApiFlash currently lists the lower 1,000-capture price, while ScreenshotAPI.net lists lower 10,000- and 100,000-capture prices. Compare the tier, allowance and billing terms you will actually use.

ScreenshotAPI.net is the stronger documented fit because its current materials list URL-to-PDF and HTML-to-PDF. Confirm the exact PDF controls and plan before purchase.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Which API handles a sudden burst better?
ApiFlash publishes a 20-requests-per-second leaky bucket with a burst size of 400. ScreenshotAPI.net publishes per-minute limits, so a burst-heavy workload needs queueing or a different plan.
