AMD launched the Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series on October 10, 2024 as a commercial laptop platform combining Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, an XDNA 2 NPU and AMD PRO security and manageability features. The family targets business laptops and Copilot+ PC-class workloads rather than desktop PCs or discrete graphics cards.
It remains a capable platform for office work, development, multitasking and light content creation, but it is no longer AMD’s newest commercial generation. AMD announced the successor Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series in January 2026, with systems beginning to arrive in the first quarter of 2026. That makes a 300-Series laptop most compelling when its complete configuration, support package and price are clearly better than newer alternatives.
What AMD introduced
The Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series is a family of mobile processors designed for managed commercial PCs. “PRO” is not simply a faster version of consumer Ryzen AI. It identifies a business-oriented platform with additional security, manageability and commercial-validation requirements.
AMD designed the chips for systems running Windows 11 Pro and business software, with support for Copilot+ PC-class AI workloads. OEMs integrate the processors into complete systems from vendors including HP, Lenovo and Dell. The laptop manufacturer determines much of the final experience, including cooling, firmware, memory, storage, display, battery and enterprise-support options.

These figures come from AMD’s Ryzen PRO mobile quick-reference guide and AMD product information. “Up to” matters: the actual result depends on the laptop’s power limits, cooling and firmware.
Do not confuse PRO and consumer Ryzen AI chips
The consumer Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 and the commercial Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 have similar broad architectural traits, but they are not the same product. The PRO designation covers commercial security, manageability and platform validation; it does not merely indicate a higher clock speed.
Zen 5 CPU performance and power scaling
The processors use AMD’s Zen 5 architecture and a 4 nm manufacturing process for the listed mobile parts. The range reaches 12 cores and 24 threads, making the higher-end models suitable for heavy multitasking, software development, large spreadsheets, virtualized workloads and other sustained productivity tasks.

For example, the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 has four Zen 5 cores and four Zen 5c cores. AMD lists that processor with an 8-core/16-thread design and a configurable 15–54 W power range; its product page provides the model-specific details.
The broad power range allows manufacturers to tune the same silicon for thinness, battery-oriented profiles or higher sustained performance. A Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 in a larger 54 W business laptop can therefore behave very differently from the same processor in a thin system configured near the lower end of its range. Cooling capacity, memory, BIOS settings and Windows power mode all matter.

RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics
Graphics are handled by AMD’s RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU, ranging from Radeon 840M to Radeon 890M. The highest-end parts provide up to 16 graphics compute units. This is a substantial step beyond basic integrated graphics in many older office laptops and can help with display driving, video processing, creative applications and some GPU-accelerated AI workloads.
AMD says the highest-end commercial parts provide up to 33% more graphics compute units than the preceding generation. That is AMD’s own generational comparison, not an independent benchmark result.

Consequently, memory speed, bandwidth, capacity and configuration can materially affect graphics performance. A laptop with fast LPDDR5X memory may perform differently from one with slower or differently configured memory.
Radeon 890M is still integrated graphics. It is not a substitute for a high-end discrete GPU in professional 3D work, demanding modern games, advanced video production, CUDA-dependent software or serious local model development.

- CPU: General-purpose application and operating-system work.
- GPU: Graphics, parallel compute, display and media workloads.
- NPU: Dedicated, lower-power neural processing for supported AI features.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 reaches up to 55 NPU TOPS, while the other listed models reach up to 50 TOPS. That exceeds Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC NPU threshold. However, TOPS is a peak throughput rating, not a direct measure of chatbot response speed, image-generation speed, output quality, battery life or application compatibility.
Realistic uses can include Windows Studio Effects, background blur, eye-contact correction, voice processing, noise reduction, live captions, translation and selected local summarization or image-generation features. Whether a particular application uses the NPU depends on its software support, model format, drivers and scheduling. Other applications may continue to run primarily on the CPU, GPU or cloud services.
Having the required hardware also does not guarantee that every Copilot+ feature is enabled in every country, Windows build or corporate device image. Microsoft feature availability and OEM software can change independently of the processor.
Why AMD PRO matters to business buyers
For an enterprise buyer, the most important difference from a similarly specified consumer Ryzen AI laptop may be the platform around the silicon. AMD PRO technologies are intended to provide:
- Hardware-rooted and firmware-based security capabilities
- Memory and platform protection features
- Firmware and system-management support
- Remote administration and fleet-management integration
- Long-term commercial-platform validation
- Support for business operating systems and OEM management stacks
AMD PRO is not one universal management application or a single console supplied identically on every laptop. The controls available to administrators depend on the OEM’s firmware, the operating system, enabled security policies and the organization’s endpoint-management platform. A company may still need Windows Pro or enterprise licensing, Microsoft Intune or another management system, OEM utilities and appropriate BIOS configuration. AMD’s comparison with Intel
AMD reported that the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 delivered up to 40% higher performance and up to 14% faster productivity performance than Intel’s Core Ultra 7 165U. These are AMD internal test results, not universal market-wide conclusions.
AMD compared an HP EliteBook X G1a with the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 against a Dell Latitude 7450 with the Core Ultra 7 165U. Both systems used Windows 11 Pro with virtualization-based security enabled, but they were different laptops with different cooling systems, power configurations and firmware. AMD says its performance-lab testing was conducted in September 2024.
The appropriate interpretation is: AMD’s internal testing reported an advantage under its specified conditions. A buyer should not assume that every Ryzen AI PRO 300 laptop will outperform every Intel Core Ultra business laptop. Commercial systems documented in AMD material include the HP EliteBook X G1a, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 AMD and Dell commercial PCs based on Ryzen AI PRO processors. AMD’s business processor directory and OEM announcements provide platform information.
Availability and specifications vary by country, sales channel and configuration. The processor name alone does not tell you the display quality, RAM capacity, upgradeability, SSD, battery, webcam, ports, keyboard, chassis durability, warranty or enterprise-support terms.

When comparing systems, check the complete configuration rather than accepting an “AI PC” label. In particular, verify:
- At least 32 GB of memory for serious local AI, development, virtual machines or creator work when memory is soldered
- Memory speed and whether the RAM can be upgraded
- Battery capacity and display resolution or refresh rate
- Cooling design and the laptop’s sustained power profile
- Windows edition, BIOS controls and OEM management support
- Warranty, onsite service and fleet-support options
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 availability, which depend on the system configuration
Should you buy a Ryzen AI PRO 300 laptop now?
It makes sense when:
- You find a well-configured business laptop at a meaningful discount.
- You need strong integrated graphics in a relatively thin commercial system.
- You regularly multitask, compile software or run productivity workloads that benefit from multiple CPU cores.
- You need an NPU-capable Windows business laptop for supported local AI features.
- Your organization values AMD PRO security and manageability capabilities.
- Your existing fleet and support processes already align with HP, Lenovo or Dell systems using the platform.
Consider another platform when:
- The Ryzen AI PRO 400 price premium is small and longer platform currency matters.
- Your software requires CUDA or a powerful discrete GPU.
- You depend on Intel vPro tooling, validated docking hardware or existing Intel fleet workflows.
- You are considering a Qualcomm Snapdragon X system but have not verified legacy x86 applications, drivers, peripherals and VPN compatibility.
- The laptop has only 16 GB of soldered memory and your workload includes local models, virtual machines or creator applications.
- You need a specific OEM support or management ecosystem that is unavailable on the chosen configuration.
AMD announced the newer Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series in January 2026, with availability beginning in the first quarter of 2026. As of 2026, the 300 Series should therefore be evaluated as a previous-generation commercial platform, not as AMD’s latest business processor family.
Bottom line
The Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series was a strong 2024 commercial launch: Zen 5 provides up to 12 cores and 24 threads, RDNA 3.5 supplies capable integrated graphics, and the XDNA 2 NPU reaches up to 55 TOPS. Its business value also comes from AMD PRO security and manageability features, not just raw CPU or GPU specifications.

It remains a sensible choice for a discounted, well-built business laptop with adequate memory and OEM support. But the processor badge cannot predict the whole experience, and AMD’s benchmark claims should be read as vendor testing. For a new fleet purchase in 2026, compare the complete 300-Series system with Ryzen AI PRO 400, Intel Core Ultra business platforms and, where necessary, Qualcomm or discrete-GPU alternatives.
