AMD Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.11.1 is a genuine archived graphics-driver package released on November 13, 2017. It was designed for compatible Radeon graphics hardware running Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10, with separate packages for different GPU families and system architectures. It is not a current universal AMD driver and should not be installed on unverified hardware.
Use AMD’s official Previous Drivers archive, select your exact Radeon model and Windows version, and then choose 17.11.1 if the package is listed. Current systems should normally use the newest compatible AMD driver instead.
Download AMD Radeon Software Crimson ReLive 17.11.1 safely
AMD’s archived product pages remain the safest starting point for this legacy download. The exact filename, package size, and supported hardware depend on the selected Radeon model and operating-system architecture. For example, AMD’s archive lists a package of about 404 MB for the Radeon RX 580, while an older Radeon HD product page lists a different package size.
- Open AMD’s Support and Previous Drivers page.
- Select Graphics, then the Radeon family and exact GPU model.
- Choose Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 and the correct 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
- Expand the historical driver list or Previous Drivers.
- Select Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.11.1.
- Before downloading, confirm the product, operating system, architecture, release date, and file details.
Do not treat a third-party mirror as the official source. An archive mirror may preserve a file that AMD no longer exposes for a particular product, but its authenticity should be independently verified before use.

What is Crimson ReLive 17.11.1?
Crimson ReLive 17.11.1 is a combined AMD Radeon display-driver and control-software package. “Crimson ReLive” is the software-suite branding, while “17.11.1” is the release identifier. The historical package documentation also identifies the driver as 17.40.1031 and the Windows Driver Store version as 23.20.788.0. These are different version identifiers for the same release ecosystem.
It is a graphics driver and Radeon control package—not a BIOS update, chipset driver, Linux driver, or generic AMD hardware utility. AMD released it on November 13, 2017, so it should be treated as legacy software rather than the latest or best driver for modern systems.
Compatibility
The historical release documentation lists support for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 or later, in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. That describes the release’s original support target; it does not guarantee correct operation on every current Windows build, and it does not establish compatibility with Windows 11.

AMD’s product-specific archive is the authoritative compatibility check. Do not assume that because one RX 500-series or older Radeon page lists 17.11.1, every Radeon card can use the same installer.

Identify your GPU and Windows architecture first
- Press Windows + X and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters and record the exact Radeon model.
- If the entry says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, identify the hardware through the computer manufacturer’s support page or a trusted system-information utility before installing.
- Open Settings → System → About and check System type for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. On older Windows installations, use Control Panel → System.
A wrong package can produce an installation failure, missing Radeon Settings, or an apparently successful installation that leaves Windows using a basic display driver.
What changed in version 17.11.1?
The release documentation highlighted support for Call of Duty: WWII, AMD XConnect support for Radeon RX Vega products with selected external-GPU enclosures, and several stability fixes.

The “up to 5%” figure is AMD’s own test claim for a particular RX Vega comparison, resolution, and previous driver. It should not be read as a guaranteed improvement for every Radeon card or game.
Install the driver conservatively
Before installation
- Create a Windows restore point.
- Download the correct package before removing your current driver.
- Save open work and close games, browsers, overlays, monitoring tools, and recording software.
- Record your current driver version in Device Manager or Radeon Settings if the system is stable.
- On a laptop, check the OEM support page before using AMD’s generic package.
If Windows repeatedly replaces the driver during troubleshooting, temporarily disconnecting from the internet can prevent an immediate replacement. This is a troubleshooting measure, not a universal installation requirement.

Normal installation
- Right-click the downloaded AMD installer and select Run as administrator.
- Allow the package to unpack and accept the license terms.
- Choose the normal or express installation unless you need a specific custom component selection.
- Restart when prompted.
- Open Device Manager and confirm that the exact Radeon model appears under Display adapters.
- Open Radeon Settings and verify that it launches and reports the expected driver.
Clean installation or downgrade
Use a clean-removal workflow when the installer repeatedly fails, the display becomes corrupted after an upgrade, or you are replacing a newer Adrenalin driver with 17.11.1. Options include Windows’ normal uninstall process, AMD Cleanup Utility, Device Manager removal, or a reputable third-party Display Driver Uninstaller used according to its documentation.
Do not manually delete DriverStore files. That can damage Windows driver servicing. After cleanup, reboot into normal Windows and install the exact product-specific package. A downgrade may leave remnants of newer Radeon software, so verify the active driver rather than relying only on the installer’s completion message.
Verify that 17.11.1 is active
- Open Device Manager → Display adapters → Radeon device → Properties → Driver.
- Confirm that the provider is AMD and inspect the displayed driver version.
- Check that Windows offers the expected resolution and refresh rate.
- Launch Radeon Settings and a known application or game.
- If crashes or resets continue, use Event Viewer for additional evidence.
A successful installer message alone does not prove that the intended Radeon driver is active. Windows may have retained another driver, installed only part of the package, or replaced it after reboot.

“No AMD graphics hardware has been detected”
Confirm the exact adapter model, check whether the device is disabled in Device Manager, and look for error codes. Laptop switchable graphics and OEM customizations are common causes. Remove the failed package cleanly, then install the matching OEM or AMD package for the exact product.

The installer fails or rolls back
- Reboot and try once more with other applications closed.
- Remove Radeon Software through Windows Apps or Programs and Features.
- If the problem persists, use AMD Cleanup Utility or another established clean-driver method.
- Reboot into normal Windows.
- Install the exact product and architecture package again.
- If it fails again, inspect the AMD installer log rather than repeatedly running the same installer.
Avoid registry cleaners and do not begin by manually deleting AMD folders.
Black screen after installation
Allow one normal reboot to complete before forcing the system off. You can try Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. If the display remains unusable, boot into Safe Mode, roll back the driver through Device Manager, and then perform a clean removal. For laptops, reinstall the OEM driver or the last known-good package.
Radeon Settings is missing
The installer may have installed only the display-driver component, the package may not match the current Windows build, a previous Radeon installation may be incomplete, or Windows may have replaced the package. Check Device Manager first; it is more reliable for confirming which display driver is active.

A driver may not be the root cause. Test with default Radeon settings, disabled overlays and recording, a clean installation, and—if supported—a different driver version. Also check the game’s patches and compatibility settings, system memory, temperatures, power delivery, and Windows event logs.

AMD’s archive lists later releases—including Crimson ReLive 17.11.2 and 17.11.4, followed by Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 and 17.12.2—so 17.11.1 was not the final or universally preferred driver even shortly after its release. It is best viewed as a targeted compatibility package for a specific legacy setup.
