If you find a Series 10 near $299, confirm that it is new, the 42mm GPS aluminum version, and sold by a seller whose return and warranty terms you accept. Search results can mix renewed units, third-party listings and different configurations; an apparent low price may apply only after selecting a particular color or band. Apple’s comparison page includes Series 11 and newer models, so compare current-generation options if the Series 10 price is substantially above its original $399 starting price.
What the Series 10 offers
Introduced in September 2024, Series 10 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes. Apple lists an S10 SiP, 64GB storage, and an always-on LTPO3 OLED display with up to 2,000 nits brightness. Apple’s launch announcement emphasized its thinner design, larger display, faster charging and added sensors. Battery and charging
Apple estimates up to 18 hours of normal use or up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode, and says the watch can charge to 80% in about 30 minutes. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtimes; workouts, cellular use, notifications, display settings and battery condition affect actual results.

Health features are not diagnoses
Sleep-apnea notifications can flag possible signs that may warrant medical evaluation; they do not diagnose sleep apnea. ECG, temperature and other health-related functions also have defined limitations and are not substitutes for professional medical care. Blood-oxygen hardware specifications do not guarantee that the Blood Oxygen app is available in every market. Check Apple’s feature and availability details for your region before relying on a particular function.

Water use
The watch is designed for swimming and includes water-related sensors, but water resistance is not the same as being waterproof. Follow Apple’s stated water-use limits; do not assume it is suitable for diving beyond those limits.
Who should consider a Series 10?
First-time buyers and owners of older watches
For an iPhone owner buying a first Apple Watch, or upgrading from a substantially older model, Series 10 combines a larger display, fitness and notification features, sleep tracking and faster charging. Engadget’s review-based assessment rated it 90 and called it its best overall smartwatch at the time; that is an editorial judgment, not a universal ranking or a statement about the current lineup.
Series 7 or 8 owners
The case for upgrading depends on what you want. A larger display, faster charging or the newer sensors may matter; if your current watch already meets your needs, a discount alone does not make replacement necessary.

The update is relatively incremental for many Series 9 owners. Consider switching only if the specific display, charging or sensor differences are valuable to you, and compare the price with newer models before deciding.

Which configuration fits your use?
GPS or GPS + Cellular
- GPS: Best suited to people who normally carry their iPhone. The $299 historical deal was this type.
- GPS + Cellular: Can provide connectivity away from an iPhone when activated with a compatible carrier plan. The plan generally adds ongoing cost, so include it in the total rather than comparing watch prices alone.
42mm or 46mm
The 42mm case is smaller and lighter; the 46mm provides a larger viewing area. Choose by wrist fit and display preference, and check Apple’s listed dimensions and wrist ranges before ordering.
Aluminum or titanium
The $299 headline was for aluminum, not titanium. Titanium configurations cost more, and their historical discounts varied. Compare the material and exact model rather than applying the headline reduction to the whole Series 10 range.
New, renewed or refurbished
Do not treat refurbished or renewed pricing as equivalent to a new-watch deal. Apple’s Certified Refurbished store listed a Series 10 cellular example at $379, down from $449, when that listing was crawled roughly two months before August 2026; it included a one-year limited warranty and 14-day returns. That is a dated example, not a current quote, and refurbished inventory and configurations can change. Check the live listing’s condition, warranty, return window, band and connectivity.
Compatibility and reasons to skip it
Apple’s Series 10 specification lists an iPhone XS or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), with iOS 18 or later. Requirements can change as software evolves, so verify Apple’s current compatibility information before purchase. Apple Watch is not compatible with Android phones.
- You use Android: Choose a smartwatch designed for your phone instead.
- You want independent connectivity but are considering the GPS model: The GPS configuration is not a substitute for cellular service away from your iPhone.
- You expect medical diagnosis: Apple’s health features provide information or notifications, not a replacement for clinical assessment.
- You want the newest mainline Apple Watch: Compare Series 10 with the newer models listed by Apple before paying a high price for older stock.
How to judge a current listing
The 2025 $299 price is a strong historical benchmark for a new 42mm GPS aluminum Series 10, but it does not prove that any present-day listing is a bargain. Before checkout, verify the precise configuration, condition, seller, band, return terms, warranty and delivery date. If choosing cellular, account for the compatible carrier plan. For lower-cost Apple Watch basics, compare the Apple Watch SE, while recognizing that it lacks parts of the Series 10 display and sensor package.
