Amazon’s U.S. Prime Video lineup for August 2025 paired The Pickup, a new heist comedy, with scripted and sports-focused originals, returning series, weekly episodes, live football and a sizable batch of licensed films and TV. The most notable dates ran from the August 1 catalog drop to Hannibal arriving August 30. These are the dates in Amazon’s published U.S. August lineup; availability can differ by country and change over time.
August’s standout Prime Video releases

- The Pickup — August 6: An Amazon Original action comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer. Two mismatched armored-truck drivers are caught in an ambush led by a criminal mastermind. It is the month’s clearest mainstream movie premiere and a natural choice for viewers after a broad comic action film.
- Taurasi — August 7: A three-part documentary about WNBA legend Diana Taurasi and her career across the NCAA, WNBA, Olympics and EuroLeague. A focused pick for basketball and sports-documentary fans.
- Butterfly — August 13: A spy-thriller series starring Daniel Dae Kim. Amazon’s announcement confirms the date and genre; it does not provide enough detail to responsibly summarize more of the plot here.
- Betty la Fea: La Historia Continúa, Season 2 — August 15: The Colombian continuation series returns with Ana María Orozco. It is a major option for Spanish-language viewers and those already following the story.
- The Map That Leads to You — August 20: A romantic drama adapted from J.P. Monninger’s novel, directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Madelyn Cline and K.J. Apa. A European trip takes a different course after its protagonist meets a mysterious traveler.
- Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues — August 1: A five-episode documentary about Birmingham City, its football culture and NFL star Tom Brady’s involvement as a minority owner. It offers a sports-business angle as well as a look at the club.
Other notable August premieres include Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 (August 13), MGM’s dystopian film The Siege at Thorn High (August 15), and Run the Tide (August 13). Amazon’s list also scheduled Thursday Night Football for August 21.

The August 1 drop was the month’s largest single-day batch, with 26 listed titles. It included all seven seasons of 30 Rock, plus movies such as Death Becomes Her, Howard the Duck, Uptown Girls, Wrath of Man and the first three listed Transformers films: Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon.

For a completed-series binge, Hannibal Seasons 1–3 were listed for August 30. Other recognizable film additions included Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (August 2), Creed (August 16), The Intern and Wolf Man (both August 22), and Last Breath (August 29). These are catalog arrivals, not necessarily new Amazon productions.

Not every August entry was a one-day premiere. The Summer I Turned Pretty and Countdown had new episodes listed during the month, while Thursday Night Football was a live-sports listing for August 21. Does “on Prime Video” mean included with Prime?
Not necessarily. Amazon’s monthly lineup is a programming guide, not a guarantee that every title is included at no additional cost for every subscriber. Prime Video can offer subscription-included titles alongside rentals, purchases, channel programming and live content. Open a title’s page in your region and look for the “Included with Prime” label or Prime badge before starting it; if the page shows a rental, purchase or channel option instead, that is a different access route. Catalog rights and availability can also vary by country and change after a monthly announcement.
