The Amazfit GTR 4 New was launched in India in early September 2024 at ₹16,999. Amazfit later listed it at ₹14,999, but its indexed India-store listing showed it as sold out. The “New” is best understood as an India-focused refresh of the GTR 4, not a clearly established next-generation successor: much of its core design and feature set follows the original 2022 watch.
Amazfit GTR 4 New launch date, price and availability
Amazfit introduced the GTR 4 New Version for India in early September 2024. Launch coverage reported a price of ₹16,999 and sales through Amazfit India and Amazon. Moneycontrol’s launch report gives the India-market price and specifications; Amazfit’s India announcement identifies the product as the GTR 4 New Version.
A later official India collection listing showed ₹14,999, with a higher comparison price displayed alongside it. That is a later observed listing price, not the launch price or a guarantee of the current price. The indexed listing was marked sold out, so check actual stock and warranty before buying. What the GTR 4 New is—and what its name does not mean
There are three distinct products to keep straight: the original Amazfit GTR 4, introduced globally on September 1, 2022; the GTR 4 Limited Edition, announced in March 2023; and the GTR 4 New Version, promoted for India in 2024. The original US launch price was $199.99, with US availability beginning September 2, 2022, according to Amazfit’s original announcement.
The GTR 4 New retains the family’s round-watch styling and much of its fitness and smart-feature proposition. Its India launch description highlights a metallic middle frame, stainless-steel navigation crown, glass-ceramic rear panel, and Galaxy Black and Brown Leather variants. The evidence supports calling it a regional refresh; it does not establish a wholesale hardware-platform change or a major generational leap over the original.
Amazfit GTR 4 New specifications
Some published specifications differ by source or refer to the original GTR 4 rather than the India-market New version. The table keeps those claims separate instead of treating them as interchangeable.

The display size is not settled by the available material: Amazfit India says 1.43 inches, while several India launch reports use 1.45 inches. Without a region-specific technical sheet resolving the difference, it is not sound to describe the New as having a definite display-size upgrade.

Fitness, GPS and health features
Workouts and route navigation
The GTR 4 New’s India launch material lists more than 150 sports modes, automatic recognition for selected activities and strength exercises, PeakBeats workout analysis, route-file import and navigation, and track-run mode with smart trajectory correction. It can also broadcast live sports data through the watch or connected headphones. Strava and adidas Running syncing is described for the GTR 4 family, but availability can vary by region and app support.
Amazfit said the original GTR 4’s GPS system could be up to 99% as accurate as top handheld GPS locators. That is a manufacturer claim, not a universal independent test result. GPS performance depends on satellite visibility, buildings and other obstructions, route, firmware, and the device used for comparison. Health and sleep tracking
Launch materials list BioTracker 4.0 optical sensing for heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen (SpO₂) estimates and stress tracking, plus one-tap measurement of multiple health metrics, sleep and nap tracking, and breathing-related measurements and guidance. These are wellness readings, not a medical diagnosis or a substitute for clinical equipment or professional advice.

Calls, music and other smart functions
The GTR 4 New launch description includes Bluetooth calling through a built-in microphone and speaker, music storage and playback from the watch, phone music controls, Amazon Alexa, offline voice-assistant functions, watch faces and mini-apps. Notifications and the ability to reply to some messages depend on the paired phone, operating system and regional support.

Bluetooth calling is not cellular service. The cited material does not present the GTR 4 New as an LTE watch that can make calls independently of a paired phone.
Battery life: why 12 and 14 days both appear
India launch coverage quotes up to 12 days of typical-use battery life for the GTR 4 New. Amazfit’s 14-day typical-use claim belongs to its original GTR 4 launch materials; it should not be presented as a guaranteed figure for the New version. Both are manufacturer or launch claims, not promises for every usage pattern.
Always-on display, frequent GPS workouts, Bluetooth calls, music playback, notifications, health-sensor frequency and battery-saver settings can all affect how long a charge lasts. The original GTR 4’s 475mAh capacity is documented on Amazfit Japan’s specification page; the cited India announcement does not separately confirm the New version’s capacity.

The original GTR 4 later received software-update announcements for Zepp OS 3.0 and 3.5, including features such as interface changes, training functions, navigation improvements, Zepp Flow, Readiness and expanded HRV features. Those announcements do not prove that every GTR 4 New unit receives the same updates. Amazfit’s pages describe the original model: Zepp OS 3.0 update and Zepp OS 3.5 update. Confirm firmware and update eligibility for the exact regional model before buying for a particular software feature.

Is it worth upgrading from an original GTR 4?
The available specifications do not show a compelling generational upgrade for existing owners. The New’s regional finish and packaging may appeal, but its main fitness and smart functions substantially overlap with the original model. Compare the actual firmware, condition, warranty and price of the two watches rather than treating “New” as proof of newer internals.
Where the GTR 4 Limited Edition fits
Amazfit announced the GTR 4 Limited Edition in March 2023, with launch prices starting at $249.99. Its premium-design distinction included a stainless-steel crown and glass-ceramic rear panel. See Amazfit’s Limited Edition announcement.
The Limited Edition is a design-led variant, not evidence that the GTR 4 New is its technical successor. Choose between them based on verified regional firmware, materials, price and warranty; the cited launch information does not establish a meaningful fitness-feature advantage for either over the other.

Should you buy the Amazfit GTR 4 New?
- At or below ₹14,999: It may suit an India buyer who prioritizes a round AMOLED watch, GPS workouts, long claimed battery life and Bluetooth calling, provided genuine stock and regional warranty are available.
- Near ₹16,999: Compare it with newer Amazfit models and any discounted original GTR 4 before paying close to its launch price. A newer retail label alone is not a reason to pay more.
- If choosing against an original GTR 4: Compare firmware support, condition, seller and warranty as well as price; the available evidence does not establish a major hardware upgrade in the New.
- If seeking a newer Amazfit platform: The India collection has listed the Balance 2 at ₹24,999 and T-Rex 3 at ₹19,999, but those indexed listings were also marked sold out. These are different price tiers and product directions, not direct equivalents; check current stock and specifications before comparing.
- If buying marketplace or imported stock: Ask the seller to identify the region-specific model and confirm firmware, warranty, return terms and included charging accessories. Marketplace availability is not the same as official local availability.
Buying caveats to check first
- Stock and price: The official India listing’s observed ₹14,999 price and sold-out status may change; verify the live listing rather than relying on an old price.
- Software: The India launch page says Zepp OS 2.0, whereas later updates were announced for the original GTR 4. Do not assume Zepp Flow, Readiness, HRV features or other later additions are supported on the New without checking the exact unit.
- Regional support: The verified launch evidence is India-specific. No verified US launch was established in the cited official material; confirm local warranty and app-region compatibility in other markets.
- Health readings: Treat heart rate, SpO₂, stress and sleep features as wellness tracking, not medical-grade monitoring.
- Calls and integrations: Bluetooth calls require a paired phone, and third-party fitness-service support can vary by region.
