Use agent-browser screenshot ./shots/page.png to save the visible page, or add --full to capture its full scroll height. The command reference also documents annotated screenshots and output controls, but does not establish a selector-only screenshot command. These instructions reflect the upstream project documentation accessed September 29, 2026; flags can vary by installed version.
Save a screenshot to a file
Run agent-browser screenshot with the path where you want the image written:
agent-browser screenshot ./shots/page.png
This captures the current page view. The supplied path makes the destination explicit; if you omit it, the CLI saves the screenshot in a temporary directory and reports the resulting path.

What “screenshot an element” means in agent-browser
The documented screenshot command does not establish a selector-only or element-only capture form such as agent-browser screenshot <selector>. Do not assume that adding a CSS selector to the screenshot command crops the output to that element.

Annotate controls for visual identification
For a visual map of interactive elements, take an annotated screenshot:
agent-browser snapshot -i
agent-browser screenshot --annotate ./shots/annotated.png
Annotation labels interactive controls and maps them to snapshot references, such as @e1. This helps identify a control for follow-up interaction; it does not make the image an element crop.

Inspect an element’s position
The command reference separately documents get box for retrieving an element’s bounding box:
agent-browser get box <selector>
A bounding box is positional information, not proof that the screenshot command accepts a selector for cropping. If a particular installed release or tutorial offers element-only capture, verify its syntax in that release’s documentation rather than generalizing it to all versions.

Choose image format, directory, or PDF output
The reference lists controls for a custom screenshot directory and image format and quality. It also documents a separate PDF command:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
# Set a screenshot directory
agent-browser screenshot --screenshot-dir ./shots
# Request JPEG output at quality 80
agent-browser screenshot --screenshot-format jpeg --screenshot-quality 80
# Write a PDF instead of an image
agent-browser pdf ./shots/page.pdf
PNG and JPEG are documented format options. Check the help for your installed CLI if a flag is rejected or you need to confirm the options supported by that release. PDF output uses agent-browser pdf, not the screenshot command.

Handle scrollbars and repeated captures
Keep native scrollbars visible
Headless Chromium hides native scrollbars by default for consistent image output. To keep them visible, launch with --hide-scrollbars false.
Skip unchanged captures when appropriate
For repeated captures, the reference lists --if-changed and --threshold <0-1>. Conditional capture is not necessary for a one-time screenshot. The first capture for a scope is always reported as changed; threshold mode implies conditional capture, and JSON responses can include whether the image changed and its pixel-change ratio.
Quick command examples
# Visible page, saved explicitly
agent-browser screenshot ./shots/page.png
# Full scroll height
agent-browser screenshot --full ./shots/full-page.png
# Annotated interactive controls
agent-browser screenshot --annotate ./shots/annotated.png
# PDF output
agent-browser pdf ./shots/page.pdf
Or skip browser setup: capture a public URL with an API
If your task is to capture a website by URL remotely or repeatedly, rather than preserve a page already open in your local agent-browser session, ScreenshotNeo offers a different workflow: one GET request returns a screenshot or PDF. Its clean-shot processing accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; failed loads, blank pages, bot checks or CAPTCHAs, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

This API call captures the supplied URL; it is not a way to screenshot an arbitrary tab or local browser state.
