Apple Arcade problems usually come from Apple service outages, a network or account mismatch, software compatibility, Family Sharing, missing iCloud/Game Center data, or one damaged game installation. Identify which pattern you have, then work through these seven fixes in order—starting with service-wide checks and ending with reinstalling a single title.
First, identify what is failing

Apple Arcade is not an independent local app. Access depends on an active subscription, the correct Apple Account for purchases, working Apple services and internet, compatible software and hardware, regional availability, and—when progress is involved—matching iCloud and Game Center accounts. Downloaded games also require an active subscription; they do not remain playable after it expires or is canceled. Apple notes that not every Arcade game is available on Mac. Apple’s iPhone Arcade guide and its gameplay guidance describe these limits.
Fix 1: Check Apple’s service status and your connection
If Apple Arcade, the App Store, Game Center, or Apple Account services are having an incident, changing local settings will not repair the problem.
On iPhone
- Open Safari and visit Apple’s System Status page.
- Look for incidents affecting Apple Arcade, the App Store, Game Center, Apple Account, or related services.
- Open another website in Safari.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or try another Wi-Fi network.
On Mac
- Open Safari and check the same System Status page.
- Test another website.
- If possible, try a phone hotspot or another network.
Temporarily disable a VPN, filtering profile, firewall, antivirus web shield, or DNS-security tool. A service that works on another network points to the router, DNS, captive portal, school/work network, or internet provider. Set the device’s date and time automatically; incorrect time can prevent secure Apple-service connections. Apple recommends these checks in its connectivity guidance.

Expected result: Arcade loads, downloads start, or the game connects. If Apple reports an outage, wait for it to clear before changing accounts.
Fix 2: Update iOS, macOS, and the game
iPhone
- Open Settings > General > Software Update.
- Install any available update and restart the iPhone.
- Open the Apple Games app or App Store and update the affected game if an update is offered.
Mac
- Open the Apple menu and choose System Settings > General > Software Update.
- Install the available macOS update and restart.
- Update the game in the Apple Games app or App Store.
Apple’s current ecosystem documentation identifies iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 as the recommended generation for its latest features, but a particular game’s minimum requirements still control. Do not install a beta operating system merely to troubleshoot Arcade. If the failure began immediately after an update, the developer may need to update the title. Fix 3: Verify the subscription and Media & Purchases account
A downloaded game still needs an active Apple Arcade or eligible Apple One subscription. The iCloud account and the Media & Purchases account can be different, so check the purchase account rather than signing out of iCloud first.

Check the subscription on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Confirm that Apple Arcade or Apple One is active and has not expired or been canceled.

Check the subscription on Mac
- Open the App Store and click your name in the lower-left corner.
- Choose Account Settings.
- In Manage, select Manage beside Subscriptions and check Apple Arcade or Apple One.

Check Media & Purchases
On iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] > Media & Purchases. On Mac, use App Store > Store > Sign Out, then sign in with the account that owns the subscription. Apple documents this narrower sign-out process for missing shared content at its account troubleshooting page. Avoid signing out of iCloud unless Apple Support specifically directs it.

Fix 4: Repair Family Sharing access
Eligible Apple Arcade or Apple One subscriptions can be shared by the organizer with up to five additional family members. Each person should use their own Apple Account, while the purchase account must be correctly associated with the family group. See Apple’s Family Sharing overview.
Check the member’s purchase account
- On iPhone, open Settings > Family > [your name] > Purchases.
- On Mac, open System Settings > Family > [your name] > Purchases.
- Confirm that the purchase account is the one connected to the Family Sharing group.
- Check the family’s subscriptions and confirm that Arcade sharing is enabled where applicable.
Also check Screen Time or content restrictions, parental approval requirements, and whether the member already has an individual subscription. Apple explains account mismatches and shared-content problems at this support page and describes subscription sharing at its iPhone guide.
Fix 5: Confirm the game supports your device and region
Apple Arcade availability is not identical across platforms. Apple explicitly says that some games are unavailable on Mac or Apple TV 4K, and hardware, operating-system, country, and region can change the catalog. Search for the title in the Apple Games app or App Store on the device you want to use and read its compatibility information. Apple’s availability details are at this page.

If a game appears on iPhone but not Mac, that can be a catalog limitation rather than a broken Mac installation. If the title shows No Longer Available, it may have left Apple Arcade. A later standalone App Store version, if offered, can differ and may not import the Arcade save. Apple describes this transition at its gameplay support page.

Use this fix when the game launches but scores, saves, or progress are absent. Supported games can synchronize through iCloud and Game Center; Apple does not promise cross-device saves for every title.

- Open Settings, tap your name, and verify the intended iCloud Apple Account.
- Open Settings > Game Center and verify the same account.
On Mac
- In System Settings, verify the Apple Account used for iCloud.
- Select Game Center in the sidebar and verify that account.
- Make sure you are using the correct macOS user account if the Mac is shared.
Install the game on the same Apple ecosystem, open it, and allow time for synchronization. Do not delete it before checking these accounts; unsynchronized local progress may not be recoverable. If the game has left Arcade, a replacement App Store version may not import its old save. Apple’s supported-save explanation is at this guide.

Fix 7: Reinstall the game, then contact the right support team
Reserve deletion for a damaged or incomplete installation. First confirm the subscription and account, check iCloud and Game Center if progress matters, force-quit the game, restart the device, and check available storage. Requirements vary by game and update, so there is no universal free-space number.
- Open the Apple Games app or App Store.
- Search for the game again.
- Delete and redownload it only after important progress is synchronized or otherwise recoverable.
Arcade games may not appear in ordinary purchase history; Apple says to search for the title again to redownload it at this support page.
Contact Apple for subscription, account, Apple-service, or platform problems. Contact the game developer for title-specific crashes, input problems, in-game errors, or save behavior; Apple identifies the developer as the source for many game-specific features and support at its Arcade availability page.

When nothing works
- Apple reports an outage: wait and retry after the incident ends.
- All games fail on one network: investigate the VPN, router, DNS, security software, or network administrator.
- All games fail on one account: recheck the subscription and Media & Purchases account.
- One game fails on one device: check compatibility, updates, storage, and then reinstall.
- Only saves are missing: verify iCloud, Game Center, and the game’s supported synchronization.
- The game says No Longer Available: the title may have left Apple Arcade rather than malfunctioned.
