RingCentral is the best all-around pick for a business that needs a full phone system on iPhone; Google Voice is a simpler fit for many Google Workspace users. The right choice depends on whether you need a public phone number, business texting, team call routing, international service, or just app-to-app calls. This list focuses on business-capable services that offer iPhone apps—not messaging apps that only call other users of the same app.

Prices below are U.S. plan signals captured on August 16, 2026, where the cited provider source supplied a figure. They are not directly comparable: billing terms, required licenses, included calling, availability, taxes, fees, and add-ons differ. Check the linked provider details before subscribing.

What a VoIP app does—and what it does not

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) carries calls over an internet connection, such as Wi-Fi or mobile data, instead of relying solely on the cellular voice network. A business VoIP service may give you a number that can call ordinary landlines and mobile phones, plus features such as voicemail, forwarding, business hours, and team routing.

That is different from an app that only calls other registered users. FaceTime, WhatsApp, Signal, and similar services can be useful for internet calls, but they generally are not substitutes for a business phone system with a public telephone number, PSTN calling, call queues, or business SMS. A SIP client is another category: it is an app that connects to a separate provider account, rather than necessarily supplying the phone service itself. Carrier Wi-Fi Calling uses your mobile carrier service over Wi-Fi; it is not the same as subscribing to an independent VoIP provider.

Having an iPhone app does not mean a service replaces your mobile plan. VoIP calls rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data, and emergency calling, texting, number availability, and app behavior vary by provider, plan, and country. Review the provider’s emergency-calling terms before relying on a VoIP app as your only phone service.

How these recommendations are ranked

These are editorial recommendations based on the published feature and pricing signals cited here, ecosystem fit, and the needs each service is positioned to address. They are not the result of controlled call-quality, battery-life, or customer-support tests. A service can be the better fit for one company and the wrong fit for another.

  • Phone service: whether the offering is a business phone system or a lighter second-line service, and whether it can support calls to ordinary phone numbers.
  • iPhone usefulness: whether the provider offers an iOS app and identifies mobile capabilities. An app listing alone does not prove every desktop feature is available on iPhone.
  • Business workflow: voicemail, forwarding, routing, messaging, administration, and integrations where the cited provider material establishes them.
  • Cost clarity and ecosystem fit: published price signals and whether a service naturally fits an existing Google, Microsoft, Zoom, or other business setup.

The 11 best VoIP apps for iPhone

1. RingCentral — best overall for growing businesses

RingCentral is the strongest broad-platform recommendation for a business that expects to need more than a single forwarded line. Its iPhone listing describes business-number calling, SMS, team messaging, video meetings, contacts, call history, voicemail, and integrations with Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, and other business tools. It also lists AI capabilities such as receptionist assistance, transcripts, summaries, notes, and action items. The App Store listing supports iPhone and iPad and specifies iOS 16 or later.

RingCentral’s download page describes mobile access to core phone features including call routing, auto-attendant, voicemail, and integrations with more than 200 business apps. That breadth makes it a reasonable choice for organizations that may grow into more involved routing or integrations, rather than for someone who only needs a spare number. The available cited sources do not establish a dependable 2026 U.S. price, so check the current plan and seat requirements directly.

Choose it if your team needs a scalable business communications suite and you are willing to compare plans carefully. Look elsewhere if you are a solo user seeking only basic call forwarding. Sources: iPhone app listing and RingCentral downloads and mobile features.

2. Google Voice — best for Google Workspace users

Google Voice is a natural short-list choice if your organization already uses Google Workspace and wants a comparatively straightforward cloud phone service. Google’s business page lists iOS and Android apps, voicemail transcription, call forwarding, and Calendar and Meet integrations. It also describes differences among plans in user and location limits, auto-attendant, recording, reporting, and SIP Link.

The cited page lists U.S.-oriented business plan signals of $10 per user/month for Starter, $20 for Standard, and $30 for Premier. Country availability and calling rates vary, so those figures should not be treated as globally available prices. Google Voice is less compelling when advanced contact-center operations or extensive CRM workflows are central requirements.

  • Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6: Enjoy seamless wireless connectivity with the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology, providing faster speeds and improved coverage.
  • Cordless Convenience: This cordless phone offers the freedom to move around while on a call, without being tethered to a base station.
  • Large Color Display: The
  • 4-inch color LCD screen provides a clear and vibrant interface for easy navigation and call management.
  • Intuitive Controls: The phone features a user-friendly keypad and navigation buttons for effortless operation.

Choose it if your team uses Google Workspace and needs a business number with core cloud-phone features. Look elsewhere if your call handling requires sophisticated queues or specialized customer-service workflows. Source: Google Voice for business.

3. Zoom Phone — best for organizations already using Zoom

Zoom Phone makes the most sense when Zoom is already part of how a company meets and collaborates. Zoom’s plan page describes U.S./Canada unlimited-calling options with domestic calling, domestic SMS and MMS, domestic online fax, included domestic phone numbers, call recording, multi-device calling, and integrations including Salesforce, Slack, Microsoft, Google, and Contact Center. The page also describes native iOS and Android apps, voicemail transcription, and auto-attendant capabilities on listed plans.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The cited pricing result did not establish a dependable numerical price. Compare the live standalone Zoom Phone offer with any Zoom Workplace bundle you are considering: their total cost and included features can differ. International calling is described as metered on the relevant plans, so a domestic unlimited label should not be read as unlimited worldwide service.

Choose it if your organization already depends on Zoom and wants voice alongside its existing collaboration tools. Look elsewhere if you do not want a bundled collaboration ecosystem or need a specialized contact center. Sources: Zoom Phone plans and Zoom Phone bundle information.

4. Microsoft Teams Phone — best for Microsoft 365 organizations

Teams Phone adds cloud calling to a Teams-centered Microsoft environment. Microsoft’s U.S. page describes call handling, transfers, forwarding, simultaneous ring, busy-on-busy settings, PSTN calling, and the ability to switch devices. Its pricing signals are $10 per user/month for Teams Phone Standard, $13 for Teams Phone with pay-as-you-go calling, $17 with a Calling Plan, and $34 for domestic and international calling; these figures are listed as paid yearly.

Those are not necessarily the full cost of getting a user set up: the page says a separate Microsoft Teams license is required for Teams Phone Standard, and actual licensing and calling availability depend on the market and configuration. This makes Teams Phone most attractive for businesses already paying for Microsoft 365 and working in Teams, rather than a one-person business starting from scratch.

Choose it if staff already use Teams and you want calls integrated with that workflow. Look elsewhere if you need a simple, standalone second line. Source: Microsoft Teams Phone plans and features.

5. Dialpad — best for AI-assisted calling workflows

Dialpad is worth considering for sales and support teams that value call transcription and post-call summaries as part of everyday work. Its pricing page highlights calling, meetings, messaging, real-time transcripts, call summaries, CRM integrations, and features such as 24/7 support on Pro, plus SSO, access controls, and multi-office capabilities on Enterprise.

The published price signals are $15 per user/month for Standard, $25 for Pro, and contact sales for Enterprise. The pricing page exposes monthly and annual billing options, so confirm which billing cadence applies to the quote you see. The extra analysis and workflow features may be more than a user who only needs a number and voicemail requires.

6. Quo, formerly OpenPhone — best for startups and shared business texting

Quo (formerly OpenPhone) is positioned for modern small businesses that want shared business numbers and texting without making a traditional desk-phone system the center of the workflow. Its plan documentation lists Starter at $19 per user/month, or $15 with annual billing; Business at $33 monthly, or $23 annually; and Scale at $47 monthly, or $35 annually. It lists additional numbers at $5 per month each.

Higher tiers add capabilities including call forwarding, analytics, AI summaries and transcripts, advanced integrations, and AI call tags. Verify which features are in the plan you need, especially if the team depends on a particular integration or advanced call workflow. The additional-number charge is separate from the per-user plan prices in the cited documentation.

Choose it if a small team wants shared numbers and business texting in a modern workflow. Look elsewhere if you need mature large-enterprise administration or complex global telephony. Sources: Quo and Quo plan and additional-number pricing.

7. Grasshopper — best for solo professionals

Grasshopper is a lightweight option for a solo professional or very small business that wants a separate business identity on an iPhone. Its official product site describes a business phone service centered on a business number, call forwarding, texting, and voicemail-oriented features. That focus can be easier to evaluate than a larger suite when the need is simply to separate work calls from personal ones.

The cited source does not establish a reliable current U.S. plan price, included-number allowance, or detailed mobile feature matrix. Check those items before subscribing, particularly if you need multiple users, shared inbox behavior, queues, CRM analytics, or advanced team administration.

Choose it if you need a basic business line and straightforward forwarding. Look elsewhere if your business depends on sophisticated team collaboration or contact-center functions. Source: Grasshopper.

8. Ooma Office — best for conventional small-business phone features

Ooma Office is aimed at small businesses looking for a more conventional business phone system with mobile access. It is worth comparing if your priority is core phone functionality rather than combining calling with a collaboration-first workspace.

The cited official product page does not establish a dependable 2026 plan price or enough plan-by-plan detail to confirm the number, texting, recording, or routing features you may need. Check current plan inclusions and make sure you are evaluating Ooma Office, not Ooma’s residential service.

9. Nextiva — best for customer-facing communications

Nextiva is a candidate for customer-facing businesses that want communications and customer-engagement capabilities beyond a basic number. Its official site positions the platform around voice, messaging, collaboration, and customer engagement, which may suit an organization comparing broader service workflows.

The cited source does not establish a current plan price or the exact iPhone feature set and plan conditions for individual capabilities. Confirm the quote, user minimums, mobile app functions, and included customer-engagement features before choosing it. A solo user seeking a low-cost second number may not need a platform of this scope.

Choose it if customer communications are a broader business workflow. Look elsewhere if your need is limited to an inexpensive personal second line. Source: Nextiva.

10. Vonage Business Communications — best for customization and integrations

Vonage Business Communications merits consideration when a business wants a phone service with integration options or may need communications APIs. Keep the product distinction clear: this recommendation refers to Vonage’s business communications offering, not simply its developer/API products.

Pricing and feature availability vary by plan and market, and the cited official page does not establish a dependable 2026 price. Ask which mobile features, integrations, numbers, and API capabilities are included in the specific business plan rather than assuming the full catalog comes with every subscription.

Choose it if customization and integration options matter to your deployment. Look elsewhere if you want the most transparent, basic self-service setup. Source: Vonage Business Communications.

11. 8×8 — best for international and contact-center requirements

8×8 is aimed at more demanding communications needs, including international businesses, analytics-heavy teams, and contact-center use cases. Its broad positioning makes it a potential fit where country coverage and service operations matter more than simply adding a second iPhone number.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The cited official product page does not establish a reliable price, country-by-country number availability, or a plan-level feature comparison. Obtain a quote and verify the countries, numbers, calling destinations, iPhone functions, and contact-center components your team actually needs. That level of service may be unnecessary for a sole proprietor who mainly makes and receives routine calls.

These are starting points, not claims that a given product includes every feature in a category on its entry plan. Existing software can affect value: adding voice to a platform you already pay for may be convenient, while a standalone provider may be preferable if you want to avoid depending on one productivity ecosystem.

What to verify before replacing a cellular line

A VoIP line can supplement a carrier line, but making it the iPhone’s only number involves trade-offs. Calls rely on an adequate data connection; weak Wi-Fi, mobile-data congestion, high latency, network restrictions, or VPNs can degrade service. App notifications, permissions, background behavior, Focus settings, and battery-saving conditions can also affect whether an incoming call alerts you. Provider apps do not necessarily have identical lock-screen, Contacts, Siri, Bluetooth, or CarPlay behavior, and the available cited material does not establish feature parity across these services.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Google specifically notes that VoIP emergency features differ from traditional emergency calling. Before relying on any provider, check its emergency-calling disclosure for your country, whether an address must be registered or updated, how calls are handled in the app, and whether emergency service is available on your plan. Source: Google Voice emergency-calling and service information.

  • Number: Is a number available in your area code or country? Can you port your existing number, and are toll-free, international, or shared numbers supported on the plan?
  • Texts: Does the service support the SMS, MMS, group messaging, and shared texting you need? Business messaging registration, short codes, verification texts, and international SMS can have restrictions; do not assume every bank or service will accept a VoIP number for two-factor authentication.
  • Calling: Is calling unlimited only to specified destinations, or is international calling metered? Can calls forward to a cellular backup number if the app or data connection fails?
  • iPhone requirements: Check the current App Store compatibility listing and verify required mobile features—not just that an app exists. RingCentral’s U.S. listing, for example, specifies iOS 16 or later; requirements can change.
  • Cost: Confirm annual versus monthly billing, required licenses or seats, taxes, regulatory fees, number charges, usage, porting, and add-ons for recording, AI, fax, or contact center.
  • Compliance: Check call-recording consent rules where participants are located, along with any industry requirements for retention, access controls, or audit logs.
  • Failure plan: Decide how customers can reach you during an internet outage, provider outage, or phone failure. A VoIP app is not a substitute for an independent emergency-calling plan.

Common problems and practical fixes

Incoming calls do not ring

Check account status and number assignment first, then confirm app notifications, Focus permissions, Wi-Fi and cellular-data access, and the provider’s call-routing and business-hours rules. Test on another network, update the app and iOS if supported, and sign out and back in if the problem continues. Background or battery-management behavior, a weak connection, or a provider outage can also be involved; if these checks fail, contact the provider and consult its status information.

Outbound calls show the wrong number—or are labeled as spam

Confirm that the VoIP line is selected rather than the personal cellular line, then review caller-ID settings at the user, number, and organization levels. A recent number port or incomplete verification can also affect presentation. Caller-ID display and spam reputation are separate: showing the correct number does not guarantee that a recipient’s carrier will not label it “Spam Likely.”

Business texts fail

Check whether the number is eligible for the type of messaging, whether required business-text registration is complete, and whether the destination is a short code or an international number the provider does not support. Carrier filtering, usage policies, and MMS attachment limits can also cause failures. Ask the provider about the specific message type rather than assuming that “SMS included” means all texting works.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A number port takes longer than expected

Before submitting a port request, gather the current carrier account number, billing telephone number, account or port-out PIN, a recent bill or proof of ownership, and the correct service address. Resolve any port lock or freeze with the current carrier. A port can temporarily disrupt calls and texts, so avoid scheduling it immediately before a critical business period.

The mobile app cannot handle a desk-phone workflow

Some workflows depend on receptionist consoles, shared-line appearances, paging, physical-handset failover, queue controls, compliance recording, or administrative audit logs. Confirm that the particular iPhone app and plan support the required task; do not infer mobile feature completeness from a provider’s full desktop or platform feature list.

Bottom line

For a growing business seeking a broad iPhone-accessible phone platform, start with RingCentral. If your organization already runs on Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom, compare the matching voice service before adding another communications system. For a solo professional, a lightweight line such as Grasshopper may be enough; for a small team built around shared business texting, consider Quo. Before porting or canceling cellular service, verify the exact number, messaging, emergency, iPhone, and billing conditions that apply to your account.
