The best cloud dashboard depends on who owns the infrastructure. Laravel Forge, Ploi, ServerPilot and Cleavr manage servers that you connect in your own cloud-provider account, preserving more control and usually root access. Cloudways is a more managed hosting layer for common PHP applications, so you delegate more infrastructure work. RunCloud, xCloud, GridPane, SpinupWP, Enhance and CloudPanel are legitimate names to investigate, but current feature limits and prices for those six need confirmation from their own documentation before you commit.
Use the comparison below to match control, provider compatibility, deployment workflow, operations and total cost to your workload. There is no defensible universal winner without testing the same application and verifying current plans.
What a cloud-based server dashboard actually manages
A dashboard is an administration layer in a browser. Depending on the product, it may create a virtual machine in your cloud account, install a web stack, deploy code, configure domains and TLS, expose logs and metrics, and automate backups. A managed host goes further: the provider may own or operate the underlying servers and abstract operating-system work from you.
That distinction determines your responsibilities. With a panel connected to your account, you normally still pay the cloud provider, choose the region and machine size, retain SSH or root access, and remain responsible for patching and recovery choices. With a managed platform, support and routine operations can be simpler, but infrastructure choices and low-level access may be narrower.

Detailed fit of the better-documented options
Laravel Forge: strongest fit for Laravel teams wanting infrastructure control
Forge provisions or connects Laravel VPS servers and presents a conventional stack: Nginx, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and related essentials. It also describes support for other modern application types. The important architectural point is that you keep control of the server and root access while Forge automates repetitive setup and deployment tasks.
Choose Forge when your team is comfortable owning the cloud account, operating-system decisions and recovery plan, but wants a repeatable path from a new VPS to a deployable Laravel application. Confirm the current plan and provider list before budgeting.
Ploi: broad provider coverage and a general PHP workflow
Ploi’s official materials describe provisioning across DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS and Vultr, plus server monitoring, deployment workflows, backups, domains and SSL. Its homepage also describes WordPress installation and Laravel features. That combination suits agencies or developers running several conventional PHP sites across different providers.
Provider support is not the same as identical behavior on every provider. Check region availability, supported server images, backup retention, alert destinations and whether your deployment requires workers, scheduled tasks or a database version outside the documented defaults.
ServerPilot: application-oriented management with root access
ServerPilot documentation describes a dashboard for servers and applications, monitoring and logs, one-click WordPress, migration and root access. Its overview describes connecting external cloud providers and usage-based pricing. It is a candidate for teams that want application-level controls without surrendering the underlying server account.
Before signing up, model the bill for every server and application, then verify which monitoring, migration and support functions are included at your expected scale.

Cloudways: choose it when managed hosting matters more than server ownership
Cloudways describes a managed platform for WordPress, Magento, Laravel and PHP applications running on cloud infrastructure. It belongs in this comparison because the browser experience can resemble a server panel, but the responsibility split is different: Cloudways is a managed hosting layer rather than simply a control plane over a cloud VM you operate directly.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIt can be the simpler choice when you value provider support and a guided application workflow. Ask how much SSH or root access you receive, which infrastructure settings are exposed, how backups and restores work, and what happens when you need a package or daemon outside the supported path.
Cleavr: PHP and Node.js deployments across several providers
Cleavr’s homepage describes server and deployment management for PHP and Node.js, with connections to Vultr, DigitalOcean, AWS, UpCloud, Linode, Hetzner and custom providers. That makes it worth evaluating for teams that deploy both traditional PHP sites and Node services.
The available description is not enough to compare its current plans or feature limits. Validate staging, workers, queues, databases, logs, team permissions and rollback behavior against a real application before migration.
How to choose among them
1. Decide where the server lives
- Your cloud account: Forge, Ploi and ServerPilot explicitly describe external-provider connections; Cleavr also lists several provider connections. You retain more infrastructure control and more operational responsibility.
- Managed hosting: Cloudways abstracts more of the infrastructure. This can reduce routine administration, but verify access and customization boundaries.
2. Verify provider and region compatibility
Write down the exact provider, region, operating-system image, CPU and memory size you need. Confirm that the dashboard can create or connect to that combination today. A generic “supports cloud providers” statement does not prove that your desired region or image is available.

3. Match the deployment workflow
Check repository integration, branch or release selection, build commands, environment variables, database migrations, queues, cron jobs, workers, staging and rollback. A dashboard that installs PHP is not automatically suitable for a Node service, containerized workload or unusual build pipeline.
4. Separate operational features instead of treating them as one checkbox
- Monitoring and alerts: identify the metrics, thresholds, notification channels and retention period.
- Logs: confirm web, application, system and deployment logs, plus download or search options.
- Backups: check whether they cover files, databases or full volumes; verify retention, encryption, restore testing and extra charges.
- Migration: ask what is automated and what still requires DNS, database or mail cutover work.
- SSL and domains: verify certificate issuance, renewal, wildcard support and multi-domain behavior.
- Access: confirm root or SSH access, role-based team permissions, audit logs and key rotation.
5. Calculate total cost, not just the dashboard fee
Use the same workload for every candidate: dashboard subscription, virtual-machine charges, managed database or object storage, backups, bandwidth, add-ons, support and tax. Recheck prices and limits immediately before purchase because the available material does not establish a current, comparable price table for all eleven services.

A practical multi-server rollout
- Inventory dependencies. Record domains, DNS provider, repositories, runtime versions, databases, queues, cron jobs, object storage, mail and third-party webhooks.
- Create a disposable test server. Use the same operating-system family and region you intend to run in production. Keep root credentials in a password manager and use SSH keys.
- Connect the provider account. Grant only the permissions the dashboard requires. If it supports a custom provider, document the API key scope and rotation process.
- Install the stack and harden access. Confirm firewall rules, non-root deployment users, automatic security updates, SSH policy and application secrets.
- Deploy staging first. Exercise builds, migrations, workers, scheduled jobs, file uploads and TLS renewal. Capture the exact commands and environment variables.
- Enable monitoring and backups. Set alerts for disk, memory, load, certificate expiry and failed deployments. Perform a restore to a separate server; an untested backup is only an assumption.
- Cut over gradually. Lower DNS TTL beforehand, migrate one low-risk site, watch logs and metrics, then move the remaining sites. Keep the old server available until rollback criteria are met.
Security and reliability checks
- Use separate accounts and least-privilege roles for operators, deployers and auditors.
- Require multi-factor authentication wherever the dashboard offers it, and rotate provider, database and webhook credentials.
- Keep the dashboard account independent from a single employee’s email or hardware token.
- Document how to bypass the dashboard with direct SSH or provider-console access during an outage.
- Review whether the panel changes firewall, package or web-server configuration automatically, and record those changes.
- Test a failed deployment, expired certificate, full disk and database restore before production traffic depends on the system.
Troubleshooting common failures
The dashboard cannot create a server
Check API-key scope, account billing status, provider quotas, region availability and the requested image. Try connecting an already-created test VM to separate provider-permission errors from image or quota errors.
Deployment succeeds but the site shows an old release
Inspect the release symlink, web-server document root, application cache, opcode cache and CDN. Confirm that the dashboard deployed the intended branch and that workers restarted with the new code.
HTTPS issuance fails
Verify that DNS points to the new address, ports 80 and 443 are reachable, no proxy is returning a challenge error, and the certificate authority rate limit has not been reached. Retry only after correcting the cause.
Monitoring reports a healthy server while users see errors
Dashboard host metrics may not test the user path. Add an external HTTP check, inspect application and web-server logs, and test the affected region, authentication path and dependency endpoints.
A restore is incomplete
Determine whether the backup contained databases, uploaded files, secrets and scheduled jobs. Restore to an isolated server, document missing components, and change the backup policy before attempting another production recovery.

Bottom line
Choose Forge, Ploi, ServerPilot or Cleavr when you want a control plane over servers in your own provider account and are prepared to operate that infrastructure. Choose Cloudways when a more managed application-hosting model is the priority. Treat the other six names as a verification list until you confirm their current documentation. The safest selection process is to test your actual deployment, restore a backup, inspect access boundaries and compare the complete monthly bill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one dashboard manage servers from different cloud providers?
Some products explicitly describe multi-provider connections, but support can vary by region, image and account model. Verify each provider and region you plan to use rather than relying on a generic compatibility claim.
Is root access guaranteed with a server-management panel?
No. Forge and ServerPilot materials describe root access, while a managed host may expose less control. Confirm the exact access level for your plan and server type.
Should I use a managed host or connect my own cloud account?
Use a managed host when reducing infrastructure work and obtaining provider support outweighs low-level customization. Connect your own account when you need direct control of machines, networking, packages or recovery.
What should I test before moving production sites?
Test deployment and rollback, database migrations, workers, scheduled jobs, TLS renewal, monitoring alerts and a complete restore to an isolated server.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
