To separate vocals from a song on a phone, upload the audio to a stem splitter, choose the vocal and instrumental separation, preview both results, then export the vocal stem. For a quick browser option, Vocal Remover AI says it accepts audio or video uploads and lets you download isolated vocals as WAV or MP3. Android users can also use Vocly, which separates a track into vocals, drums, bass, and other. The steps below explain how to get a usable vocal file and what to check when the result sounds imperfect.
Choose A Vocal Splitter That Fits Your Phone
Start with the simplest option for your device and the file you have. The product details establish the following choices:

For a song longer than five minutes, Moises’ stated free file limit will not fit; check the vendor’s current options before choosing another plan. Product details here do not establish support for a particular genre, song language, copyright status, or every phone model, so check the vendor’s site if any of those affect your choice.
Separate The Vocals Step By Step
- Use a song file you are allowed to process. Save an audio file to your phone, or choose a video if using a tool whose stated input supports video. Avoid starting with a screen recording or a low-quality copy if a cleaner file is available.
- Open the splitter and upload the file. In your browser, go to Vocal Remover AI and select the audio or video file. On Android, open Vocly and import the song. In Music Separator or Moises, start a new separation and select the source track. Button names and exact menus may vary; check the tool’s current instructions if the upload control is unclear.
- Choose the vocal separation. Select the option for vocals and instrumental, or a vocal stem if the app presents stems individually. Vocly produces four stems—vocals, drums, bass, and other—so use the vocals output for the isolated voice.
- Wait for the separation to finish. Keep the app or browser open if it appears to be processing. Processing time and background-processing behavior are not established for these tools, so follow the status shown on your device.
- Preview the vocal stem on its own. Listen with headphones at a moderate volume. Check the start, chorus, and any section where the singer overlaps strongly with instruments. If the tool offers separate playback, compare the vocal and instrumental outputs to catch remaining backing sounds or missing vocal details.
- Export the result. Choose WAV or MP3 where that export choice is offered. Vocal Remover AI lists both formats. Save the file somewhere easy to find, such as your phone’s Downloads folder or music project folder. Other tools’ available formats depend on their plan and current product settings.
- Keep the original song file. If you want a different separation or export later, the source lets you start again without searching for the track.
Check The Result Before Using It
Vocal separation works on a mixed recording, so the output may retain bits of instruments or lose parts of a voice. Listen through the entire isolated track before using it. Pay particular attention to vocal echoes, harmonies, backing singers, and moments where instruments share the singer’s pitch range. These are practical listening checks, not a guarantee that a splitter can preserve or remove each element cleanly.

- If parts of the singer disappear, test a different source file if you have one and compare the result.
- If timing or playback speed matters, Music Separator lists speed and pitch controls; those controls change playback, and their effect on exported files is not established here.

Use The Vocal Stem Responsibly
Only process and share recordings you have permission to use.
