Apple does not currently document a “Remove device” or “Delete history for this device” button in the Screen Time activity report. If an old iPhone, iPad, or Mac appears under Settings → Screen Time → See All App & Website Activity → Devices, you can stop future cross-device sharing, but deleting that one historical entry is not a supported control Apple documents. First check which Apple device list you are actually viewing.
Identify the list containing the old device
| Where you see it | What the list represents | Correct action |
|---|---|---|
| Screen Time → See All App & Website Activity → Devices | Screen Time usage reports and device selection | Turn off Share Across Devices or disconnect the old device from the account; Apple does not document deleting one historical entry |
| Settings → [your name] → device list | Devices currently associated with your Apple Account | Select the device and choose Remove from Account |
| Find My → Devices | Find My tracking and Activation Lock | Erase and remove the device through Find My or iCloud.com |
| Media & Purchases → View Account → Manage Devices | Devices associated with media purchases | Remove the purchase association |
| Screen Time → Family | A child’s Family Sharing-managed Screen Time | The family organizer manages the child’s settings and passcode |
Apple explicitly separates purchase-associated devices from devices currently signed in to an Apple Account: Apple’s device-association guidance.
Stop the old device sharing Screen Time data
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Screen Time, then turn off Share Across Devices. Repeat this on other current devices if you want each one to maintain independent Screen Time settings and reports. Apple says this setting controls sharing of usage data, limits, schedules, and related settings across devices signed in to the same Apple Account: iPhone User Guide.
This is a future-separation step, not a documented command to purge previously synchronized history. Apple’s guide documents selecting a device and switching sharing on or off, but not deleting one device from the activity selector.

If you still have the device, sign out of the Apple Account and erase it before relying on account removal. Apple warns that a device can reappear in the account list if it remains signed in and later reconnects to the internet: Apple Account device-removal guidance.

On iPhone or iPad, use Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → View Account → Remove This Device. Manage a child’s old device
When Family Sharing manages the child, the family organizer opens Settings → Screen Time and selects the child under Family on the organizer’s iPhone or iPad. The organizer can change the child’s settings and reset the Screen Time passcode; relevant devices should be updated so settings synchronize reliably. See Apple’s child Screen Time guidance and passcode-reset instructions.
For children aged 13–17, rules differ by country or region. Screen Time and parental controls may need to be turned off before the child can leave or be removed from Family Sharing: Apple’s Family Sharing guidance.

If the old device still appears
- Confirm whether it is in Screen Time, the Apple Account device list, Find My, or Media & Purchases.
- Turn off Share Across Devices on the relevant current devices.
- Ensure the old hardware is signed out, erased, or removed by its current owner.
- Check the Apple Account device list and choose Remove from Account.
- Check Find My and remove Activation Lock if ownership changed.
- Check Media & Purchases separately if the issue concerns downloads or playback.
- Update and restart the devices, then allow account changes to synchronize.
Apple does not publish a universal refresh time for Screen Time’s device selector. If an erased and signed-out device remains associated, contact Apple Support rather than using an unofficial cleanup or passcode-bypass utility.
Can you delete Screen Time history for only one device?
Apple’s current documentation does not provide a supported per-device historical-delete control in the Screen Time activity report. Turning off App & Website Activity is broader: Apple says it also disables reporting, Downtime, App Limits, and Always Allowed. It is therefore not a narrow way to remove one old device while preserving every other Screen Time feature.
The practical distinction is: Share Across Devices separates future data; Apple Account removal cuts the device’s account relationship; Find My removal handles tracking and Activation Lock; Media & Purchases removal handles purchase authorization. None is documented as an instant, one-device deletion of historical Screen Time entries.
When Screen Time changes are locked
The Screen Time passcode is separate from the device-unlock passcode. For an adult account, use Settings → Screen Time → Change Screen Time Passcode and authenticate with the Apple Account originally used for Screen Time Passcode Recovery. For a child managed through Family Sharing, the organizer must reset it on the organizer’s device. If the recovery Apple Account differs from the account currently signed in, use the recovery account that originally configured the feature: Apple’s passcode recovery instructions.
