Scrapfly Proxy Saver can reduce the amount of traffic billed by DataImpulse when it serves repeatable requests from a shared cache or, if your workflow allows it, stubs unneeded images and stylesheets. It sits in front of an existing DataImpulse subscription; it does not replace it. Whether it lowers your total bill depends on how much upstream traffic it actually avoids compared with Proxy Saver’s own charge.
What “DataImpulse Proxy Saver” means
Proxy Saver is Scrapfly middleware that can be placed between your scraper or client and a DataImpulse proxy subscription. It is not a DataImpulse-owned product, and it does not replace your DataImpulse account. The intended flow is:
Client or scraper → Scrapfly Proxy Saver → DataImpulse → target site
Exact routing can depend on product configuration and target-site behavior. Scrapfly describes setup as replacing the proxy credentials used by your software with credentials for a Proxy Saver instance. DataImpulse’s own setup guidance similarly centers on configuring proxy credentials in the software you use. Check the current product instructions for the configuration values and any prerequisites before changing a production job.

How Proxy Saver can reduce DataImpulse traffic
Shared caching for repeatable requests
When a request can be served from Proxy Saver’s shared cache, the same content need not be fetched from the target through DataImpulse again. Scrapfly says its caching can apply to repeat URLs, redirects, and CORS preflight requests. The possible saving is the upstream traffic that those requests would otherwise have consumed—not necessarily the full size of every response your scraper receives.
Caching is most useful when jobs revisit URLs and the relevant responses can be reused. A crawl that requests mostly unique pages, or responses that cannot be usefully reused, offers less opportunity. Freshness matters too: a cached response may not suit a workflow that requires the latest version of every resource. Decide what your task considers an acceptable response before relying on caching.
Optional stubbing of assets
Scrapfly also describes optional stubbing for images and stylesheets. If a scraping task needs page text or structure but does not need those assets, preventing their full content from traveling upstream can reduce transferred bytes. This is not appropriate when images or stylesheets are themselves part of the data being collected, or when their presence changes what the page renders in a way your workflow depends on.
Treat stubbing as a task-specific choice, not a universal optimization. Compare the output with and without it on representative pages, and ensure that omitted resources do not invalidate the data you intend to collect.

Connection handling and retries
Scrapfly presents connection reuse, keep-alives, HTTP/2 multiplexing, TLS resumption, and DNS caching as ways to reduce connection overhead and potentially avoid some retries. Its documentation also describes connection reuse and caching TLS session data. These measures can affect latency and request behavior, but the available product information does not establish an independently measured performance improvement for a DataImpulse workload. Measure your own job rather than assuming a speed or retry reduction.
Will caching reduce your DataImpulse bill?
It can reduce the DataImpulse portion of the bill if it prevents enough traffic from reaching DataImpulse. It does not follow that your total cost will fall: Proxy Saver introduces a separate traffic charge, and uncached or unstubbed traffic continues upstream. DataImpulse uses traffic-based pricing; its per-GB price varies by proxy type and purchased volume. DataImpulse says purchased traffic does not expire, so unused traffic and the timing of consumption also matter to a buyer’s cost calculation.
Use your own plan’s current rate and actual metered traffic. The useful comparison is not “bytes saved” in isolation, but the total cost of the two routes:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Direct route: DataImpulse traffic consumed × the applicable DataImpulse rate.
- Proxy Saver route: Proxy Saver traffic charge + DataImpulse traffic still consumed upstream × the applicable DataImpulse rate.
Compare the same workload and time window. Include all traffic that each provider meters, and avoid assuming that a request served from cache is free at every layer unless the providers’ current billing details say so.

Why the savings vary
- Repeat rate: revisiting the same URLs gives caching more opportunity than requesting one-off URLs.
- Response cacheability: not every response can necessarily be reused.
- Asset mix: pages heavy in optional images or stylesheets may offer more traffic to stub than text-focused pages.
- Retry profile: connection behavior and retries affect the amount of traffic consumed, but the size of that effect varies by workload.
- Freshness and fidelity: aggressive reuse or stubbing can conflict with a need for current content or complete page assets.
- Plan rate: the value of an avoided upstream gigabyte depends on the DataImpulse proxy type and volume tier you actually pay for.
Scrapfly’s product page advertises a “50% reduction of typical usage,” while qualifying that actual reduction depends on targets, asset density, cacheability, and retry profile. Treat this as Scrapfly’s own product claim, not an independent benchmark or a promised result for your workload. Scrapfly also lists Proxy Saver traffic at $0.20 per GB, plus $0.10 per GB with fingerprint impersonation; these are vendor-published, potentially changeable rates, so confirm current pricing before making a decision.
How to evaluate it against direct DataImpulse
| Factor | Direct DataImpulse | DataImpulse through Proxy Saver |
|---|---|---|
| Upstream traffic | Requests and responses on the direct route consume DataImpulse traffic. | Traffic still sent upstream consumes DataImpulse traffic; cache hits or optional stubbing may reduce that amount. |
| Additional service charge | No Proxy Saver traffic charge on this route. | Add Proxy Saver’s own traffic charge to the remaining DataImpulse cost. |
| Best potential fit | Workloads with mostly unique requests, limited cacheable content, or a need to retrieve all assets. | Workloads with repeatable requests or assets that are not needed for the task. |
| Freshness and output fidelity | Does not add Proxy Saver caching or stubbing behavior. | Check cache freshness and whether asset stubbing changes results your workflow needs. |
| Performance evidence | No independent controlled comparison is established here. | Scrapfly describes connection optimizations, but no independent controlled comparison establishes their effect on your workload. |
Run a representative comparison before migrating an important workflow. Record the same outputs and metered usage for a direct run and a Proxy Saver run, using comparable inputs and an equivalent time window. Include enough repeat visits to reflect normal operation; a run consisting only of unique URLs cannot show the value of repeat-request caching. Check correctness as well as cost: a lower byte total is not a win if it removes data your scraper needs.
For HTTPS interception, Scrapfly describes CA installation as an option. Treat that as a deliberate trust and configuration decision. Do not assume interception is mandatory, or assume a security property beyond what the product documentation establishes; review the current setup and security details for your environment before enabling it.

- Establish the baseline. Note the DataImpulse proxy type, the volume tier and rate that apply to your account, and the traffic consumed by a representative job.
- Identify what can be reused. Separate repeat URLs and reusable responses from unique requests. Decide which assets, if any, the task can safely omit.
- Configure the middleware. Follow Scrapfly’s current Proxy Saver setup instructions and replace the proxy credentials in your client with the credentials for the Proxy Saver instance. Preserve a direct-route configuration so you can compare or revert.
- Choose caching and asset behavior deliberately. Validate freshness requirements and output fidelity. Enable stubbing only when the affected resources are not needed.
- Compare usage and results. Run comparable jobs and check both provider-metered traffic and the returned data. Include Proxy Saver charges and the remaining DataImpulse traffic in the total.
- Decide from workload evidence. Keep the middleware only if the cost and operational trade-off suit your use case; recheck after changing crawl mix, asset handling, or volume tier.
Common problems and how to respond
The total bill did not fall
Possible explanations include a low repeat rate, responses that are not reusable, little optional asset traffic, or a Proxy Saver charge that outweighs avoided DataImpulse traffic. Compare each provider’s metered usage for the same job and apply the rates on your current plans. Do not infer savings from a cache feature being enabled.

The scraped result is incomplete or different
Check whether images or stylesheets were stubbed and whether the task depends on them. Also consider whether a cached response is acceptable for the freshness requirement. Disable the relevant optimization for the affected workflow and compare its output with a direct request.
Traffic remains high despite repeat visits
Repeat URLs alone do not establish that every response can be reused. Review the actual cache behavior and the mix of requests in your workload using the current Proxy Saver documentation. Distinguish requests reaching the cache from traffic still going to DataImpulse; the latter is what continues to contribute to the upstream traffic bill.
HTTPS setup raises a trust question
Scrapfly describes CA installation for optional HTTPS interception. Confirm whether your configuration requires that option, review the current documentation, and follow your organization’s certificate and trust policies. Do not install a certificate merely because you are evaluating caching unless the documented setup for your chosen behavior calls for it.

ScreenshotNeo as an alternative for screenshot jobs
Proxy Saver and DataImpulse address proxy traffic for scraping; they are not screenshot APIs. If the job is to capture a website image or PDF rather than operate your own proxy-backed scraper, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it returns a screenshot or PDF with one GET request, removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots rather than bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, or cache hits. Its MCP server also lets AI agents call screenshot tools. See ScreenshotNeo for the service and the API documentation.
One-call screenshot example
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and the URL with the page to capture. This cURL request saves the returned image as a WebP file:
Quick Recap
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
For website capture tasks, cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. AI agents can use its MCP server.
