You can automatically curate content in WordPress by adding relevant RSS feeds to an aggregator, then choosing whether to display feed items on your site or import them as WordPress posts. The safest practical workflow is selective: verify each source and its terms, filter what comes in, review items before publication, and add useful original context rather than republishing copied material at scale.

Choose what “curation” means on your site

There are two distinct ways to use other sites’ feeds. A feed display presents selected items—typically with links back to their sources—without turning each item into a WordPress post. Feed-to-post importing creates posts, pages, or other content records in your site. The latter can require more editorial oversight and carries greater search-policy risk if it produces many pages with little original value.

  • Display feed items when you want a reading list or topic roundup that points visitors to original sources.
  • Import items as posts when each entry will receive meaningful review, context, or synthesis and fits your site’s editorial purpose.

Set up an RSS-based curation workflow

1. Select sources and verify their feeds

WordPress sites commonly expose feeds for their content. Find the feed URL for each source and confirm that it is available and contains the material you intend to curate. WP RSS Aggregator says it can discover feeds from a website URL, while feed aggregators generally accept feed URLs directly. A working feed does not establish that you may republish its contents: check the source’s terms and obtain permission where required.

2. Choose an aggregator for the job

Two WordPress directory listings describe plugins that can collect and use feeds, but their feature descriptions are vendor-authored and are not a hands-on comparison.

Features and plan tiers can change. These listings do not establish comparative reliability, support quality, performance, pricing, or which plugin is best for every site.

3. Configure filtering and publication controls

Add only feeds relevant to your site, then use available filters—such as keyword filters where supported—to narrow incoming items. Where the plugin provides a choice, send imports to drafts or an editorial queue rather than publishing automatically. Review the plugin’s current settings and plan details before relying on a particular filter, schedule, or publication control.

4. Review each item and add value

Before an item appears publicly, check that its facts and dates are current, its attribution is clear, and its link leads to the original source. Remove duplicates and broken or irrelevant entries. Add your own explanation, comparison, or synthesis when the page needs to do more than reproduce a source’s work. Attribution is good editorial practice, but it does not by itself establish permission to reuse material; copyright requirements vary by jurisdiction.

5. Check scheduled imports and the finished page

Scheduled importing depends on the configuration that runs jobs on your WordPress site. The WP RSS Aggregator listing’s September 15, 2026 changelog says it displays notices explaining that imports will not run when WordPress Cron is disabled. That is a product-specific warning, not a statement that every WordPress host has the same Cron setup. If scheduled items stop arriving, check the plugin’s notices and your site’s Cron configuration, then review recent imports for missed or duplicated entries.

Finally, inspect the page as a visitor: confirm the source links, author and date details, images, and layout are useful and accurate. A feed importing successfully is not the same as a page being ready for readers.

Will automatic RSS publishing hurt SEO?

Automation alone does not determine how a page performs in search. Google Search Central defines scaled content abuse as “Scaled content abuse is when many pages are generated for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings and not helping users.” Its examples include scraping feeds to generate pages, stitching together content from other sites without added value, and republishing content without original value. Google says violations may lead to lower rankings or pages not appearing in results. See Google’s spam policies.

Google’s Search Essentials recommend: “Create helpful, reliable, people-first content.” Meeting technical requirements or following best practices does not guarantee Google will crawl, index, or serve a page. A plugin, fresh feed, or attribution link is not a promise of better rankings.

  • Curate selectively rather than generating large numbers of thin pages.
  • Link clearly to the original and add meaningful commentary, context, or synthesis.
  • Check accuracy and dates, and avoid mass-publishing lightly rewritten copies.
  • Confirm reuse rights with the source; attribution alone does not grant them.
