There is no universal Scrapfly replacement. Choose a conventional scraping API such as ScrapingBee when you mainly need HTTP retrieval, JavaScript rendering, proxies, and geotargeting. Choose Apify when reusable hosted scrapers and structured datasets matter more than a single endpoint. Evaluate Zyte, Oxylabs, Bright Data, ScraperAPI, and ZenRows for managed access or specialized extraction—but validate every claim against your own target pages, traffic mix, and current pricing.
Scrapfly uses credits, and browser rendering or residential-network options can change credit consumption. Its plan table is volatile, so check the current Scrapfly pricing page before switching.
What to compare before replacing Scrapfly
Write down the workload before comparing vendors. A product-page crawler, a JavaScript-heavy dashboard, and a geo-specific news monitor can require very different services.
- Rendering: Is the required data present in initial HTML, or does JavaScript build it after page load?
- Access: Do you need ordinary datacenter proxies, residential networks, rotation, or a particular country?
- Output: Will you parse HTML yourself, or do you need structured fields and reusable extraction workflows?
- Scale: Estimate requests, concurrency, retries, browser sessions, and peak bursts—not just monthly URL count.
- Integration: Check API and SDK support, custom code, scheduling, logging, webhooks, and migration effort.
- Economics: Include browser, proxy, extraction, retry, concurrency, and minimum-plan costs. Credits from different vendors are not equivalent units.
Run the same representative URLs, countries, output schema, and time window through each trial. Count complete, correctly typed records rather than successful HTTP responses. Record latency, retry behavior, and failure causes over repeated runs. Also review the target site’s terms, privacy obligations, applicable law, and any permission requirements for your use case.
#1 Best Overall
Best Scrapfly alternatives by workload
1. ScrapingBee — the closest conventional API comparison
ScrapingBee’s pricing page describes a request API with JavaScript rendering, rotating and premium proxies, and geotargeting. The page displayed, on September 30, 2026, Hobby at $19 per month, Freelance at $49, Startup at $99, Business at $249, and Business+ at $599, with 75,000 to 8,000,000 monthly API credits. It also offered 1,000 free API credits without a card. These are vendor prices and can change; recheck the live table.
ScrapingBee is a sensible first trial when your Scrapfly integration is essentially “send URL, receive rendered response.” Compare how each provider counts browser and proxy requests, supports custom headers and cookies, handles retries, and exposes response diagnostics. Do not assume a nominal credit is comparable to a Scrapfly credit.
2. Apify — hosted Actors and reusable workflows
Apify’s alternatives article describes a different model: select a ready-made Actor, run it on Apify infrastructure, and receive structured data, or build your own Actor. This fits teams that want a reusable crawler, scheduled runs, stored datasets, and an operational workflow instead of a general-purpose fetch endpoint. Verify the Actor’s maintenance, input schema, browser behavior, proxy options, run limits, and current commercial terms for your specific site.
Apify can reduce engineering work when a suitable Actor already exists, but a custom Actor introduces a platform runtime and deployment model. Compare migration effort and observability with the code you already have in Scrapfly.

The Apify comparison describes Zyte with browser rendering, proxy rotation, and AI extraction. Treat that as a vendor-description shortlist signal, not an independent success-rate test. Test the exact pages and fields you need, then confirm current pricing, extraction limits, data handling, and integration details directly with Zyte.
4. Oxylabs — evaluate its Web Scraper API claims directly
Oxylabs’ comparison discusses its Web Scraper API and evaluates providers using rendering, proxy support, parsing, performance, advanced features, ease of use, pricing, and free trials. Those comparative rankings are Oxylabs’ own view. Use the same criteria in your trial, especially for difficult JavaScript pages, country targeting, concurrency, and parsed output.
5. Bright Data — broader collection infrastructure
The Apify article presents Bright Data as a portfolio spanning access APIs and data products with separate pricing. That breadth may suit an organization that needs more than page retrieval, but it also means you must identify the exact product, data path, proxy class, retention policy, and commercial agreement you are comparing. Do not compare a full data product with a simple request API on headline price alone.
6. ScraperAPI and ZenRows — shortlist, then verify
ScraperAPI and ZenRows appear in Apify’s alternatives list. The available description is not enough to quote current prices or promise a feature set. Put both on a trial matrix only after checking their direct product and pricing pages, then test rendering, proxy geography, extraction, limits, and support against your workload.

How to run a fair replacement test
- Freeze the sample: Select static pages, JavaScript pages, blocked or consent-heavy pages, and every required geography. Save expected fields and data types.
- Separate modes: Test plain HTML retrieval independently from browser rendering. Test datacenter, residential, and geo-targeted traffic as separate cases.
- Use identical inputs: Keep URL lists, headers, cookies, wait conditions, concurrency, and retry policy equivalent wherever each API permits.
- Validate records: Check completeness, normalization, pagination, embedded JSON, and duplicate handling. A 200 response with an empty shell is a failed extraction.
- Measure repeats: Run enough repetitions to expose intermittent blocks, timeouts, and latency spikes. One successful page is not a benchmark.
- Model the bill: Calculate browser sessions, proxy class, parsing or AI features, retries, concurrency, storage, and minimum commitment for your real monthly mix.
- Review operations: Compare logs, request IDs, status detail, alerts, scheduling, support, and how easily you can replay a failed URL.
Common migration problems
Credits appear to disappear faster
Browser rendering, residential routing, retries, or premium features may consume additional units. Recalculate by request class and inspect each vendor’s definition rather than converting credits one-for-one.
HTML is empty or incomplete
The page may require JavaScript, a wait condition, scrolling, authentication, or a specific locale. Test a browser mode, wait for a meaningful selector, and compare the returned DOM with a real browser. If the site presents a bot check, do not treat the challenge page as valid data.
Fields work on one URL but not another
Templates, pagination, consent states, and A/B tests vary. Add representative URL classes to the fixture set and make parsing tolerant of missing fields while failing loudly when required fields disappear.
Throughput collapses at concurrency
Look for target-side throttling, provider concurrency limits, browser startup cost, and retry storms. Increase concurrency gradually, use bounded queues and exponential backoff, and measure usable records per minute rather than raw requests.

If your project also needs page images or PDFs—for visual QA, archival evidence, or a rendered snapshot—ScreenshotNeo is the first screenshot API to try: it removes common consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has the lowest paid plan in this category. It is not a replacement for a data-extraction scraper; use it alongside one when the deliverable is a faithful visual capture.
Or skip the browser setup
One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for options. Cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with verdict and billing information in response headers. Its MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients call take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
Cost and reliability notes
Scrapfly’s indexed pricing snapshot showed Discovery at $30, Pro at $100, Startup at $250, and Enterprise at $500 per month, but it was indexed about six months before this article and may be stale. Do not use those figures for a purchase decision without checking the live page.
For every candidate, separate provider reliability from target-site reliability. Track usable extraction rate, timeout rate, challenge rate, median and tail latency, retry count, and cost per valid record. Keep a fallback only when its additional fixed cost is justified by the failure modes it covers.
FAQ
Is Apify a direct Scrapfly drop-in?
No. Apify is primarily a hosted Actor and dataset workflow, while Scrapfly is a credit-based API. Choose based on whether you want endpoint-level control or reusable hosted jobs.
Best Value
Can I compare providers by monthly credit count?
Not reliably. Rendering, proxy class, retries, and extraction features can consume units differently, so compare cost per valid output for your request mix.
Does a screenshot API replace a scraper?
No. A screenshot API returns a visual asset or PDF. Use a data-extraction API or hosted crawler when you need structured fields.
The Bottom Line
Start with ScrapingBee for a conventional API trial, Apify for hosted reusable Actors, and Zyte, Oxylabs, or Bright Data when managed extraction or broader infrastructure fits your workload. Decide from repeated tests on your own pages and a fully modeled bill—not from a universal ranking.
