IFTTT can connect a WordPress publishing event to a social action—or send supported social content into WordPress—through an Applet. Choose a service pair and direction, check the trigger and action available for your accounts, connect and authorize them, then test the workflow with a low-risk post. The integrations differ: not every platform supports every content type or direction.

Choose the direction of the workflow

First decide where content starts and where it should go. IFTTT describes its WordPress integration as a way to publish on a blog and automatically share posts across social media. Its listed examples include sending new WordPress posts to Facebook Pages or X, as well as bringing Instagram photos into WordPress. See the [WordPress integration](https://ifttt.com/wordpress) and the specific [Facebook–WordPress](https://ifttt.com/connect/facebook/wordpress), [X–WordPress](https://ifttt.com/connect/twitter/wordpress), and [Instagram–WordPress](https://ifttt.com/connect/instagram/wordpress) pages.

Workflow What the integration lists Useful when
WordPress → social Examples include sharing new WordPress posts to Facebook Pages or X. Available triggers and actions depend on the service pair and account. You want a social action to follow a blog publication.
Instagram → WordPress The Instagram connection lists an “Any new photo by you” trigger and a WordPress “Create a photo post” action. You want a supported Instagram photo to create a WordPress post.
WordPress → Buffer queue IFTTT documents sending new WordPress posts to a Buffer queue. You want queued publishing rather than an immediate cross-post.

These are examples, not a promise that every account will see the same choices. Open the relevant connection page and confirm the current trigger, action, and content fields before building around a workflow.

Create and check an IFTTT Applet

  1. Select the service pair. Open the relevant IFTTT connection page and check which WordPress and social-service triggers and actions it currently offers.
  2. Choose the trigger and action. Set the event that starts the Applet—for example, a new WordPress post—and the action it should take. For an Instagram-to-WordPress flow, the listed example pairs a new-photo trigger with creating a WordPress photo post.
  3. Connect the accounts. Sign in to WordPress and the other service when prompted, then authorize the access requested. Instagram use with IFTTT requires an Instagram business account according to IFTTT’s [Instagram–WordPress page](https://ifttt.com/connect/instagram/wordpress); a personal account may therefore block that setup.
  4. Configure the fields and review. Complete the available fields, then inspect the Applet’s summary so you understand what content it will copy and where it will appear. Check account permissions and the destination before enabling it.
  5. Enable and test cautiously. Turn on the Applet and publish or trigger a low-risk test item. Confirm the result on the destination account before relying on the workflow for routine publishing.

Allow for polling delay

For polling triggers described on IFTTT’s Facebook–WordPress and Instagram–WordPress pages, the listed check interval is every five minutes for Pro and Pro+ users and every hour for Free users. These are check intervals, not guarantees of total delivery time: the interval does not promise exactly when a post will appear on the destination.

Use Buffer when you want a queue

A WordPress-to-Buffer Applet is a different publishing pattern from an immediate social action. IFTTT documents an option to send new WordPress posts to a Buffer queue. Buffer describes its service as supporting scheduling, publishing, and analysis across social channels. Each channel represents one connected social account, and queued posts go to one channel at a time. Check Buffer’s [WordPress connection](https://ifttt.com/connect/buffer/wordpress) and [service page](https://ifttt.com/buffer), then verify that the channel and posting support meet your needs for each intended network.
