How to add a click-to-reveal toggle in WordPress
- Edit your post in the WordPress block editor.
- Add a Details block: open the block inserter and search for “Details,” or type
/detailsin a new paragraph and press Enter. - Write the visible summary. Replace “Write summary…” with a concise label that tells readers what clicking will reveal, such as “Read the full explanation.”
- Add the hidden content inside the block. You can include paragraphs and other allowed blocks.
- Preview the post and check that the summary is clear and the revealed content is what readers expect.
Readers click the summary text or its arrow to open and close the disclosure. WordPress describes the block as a way to show or hide site content. WordPress Details block documentation
Choose whether the content starts open
In the Details block settings, enable Open by default when the content should already be visible on page load. You can also use the block’s documented styling controls for color, typography, dimensions, and border. WordPress Details block documentation
Make related toggles behave like an accordion
Details blocks operate independently unless you group them. To make opening one close the others in a group, give the related blocks the same Name attribute in their Advanced settings. WordPress Details block documentation

Details block, Hide setting, or shortcode?

WordPress’s general Hide setting is not a privacy feature. Device-hidden blocks remain in the page code and may still be available to screen readers, search engines, or people viewing the page source. Can the text appear on hover?
The documented Details block is click-to-open; WordPress’s documentation does not describe a hover-triggered version. For a reader who wants to reveal an answer by clicking, the core block addresses that need. WordPress community question WordPress Details block documentation

The developer reference shows that the block uses native <details> markup containing a <summary> and the revealed content. Preview the finished post in your own setup and use clear summary text so the purpose of each disclosure is understandable.
