Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallShort answer: you should not scrape, strip or mine Glassdoor in 2026 unless Glassdoor has given you express written permission. Glassdoor’s Terms of Use, revised July 1, 2026, also restrict automated agents, service interference, undue burden and attempts to bypass security controls. An account, a publicly visible page or an accessible URL is not permission. If you need data, obtain written authorization that names the pages, fields, collection method, frequency, storage, reuse and retention period before automating anything.
What Glassdoor’s 2026 terms prohibit
Glassdoor’s current Terms of Use identify Indeed, Inc. as the company providing Glassdoor.com and Fishbowlapp.com, and define “Glassdoor” accordingly. Section 4.3 says users may not:
“Introduce software or automated agents to the services, or access the services so as to produce multiple accounts, generate automated messages, or to scrape, strip, or mine data from the services without our express written permission;”
The same section addresses interference, disruption, imposing an undue burden and attempts to circumvent security features. Glassdoor reserves contractual discretion to restrict use, impose limits and remove or limit content. Those are terms and enforcement powers, not a prediction that a particular request will receive a particular response.

This is a platform-policy statement, not a universal legal conclusion for every country, contract or dataset. Copyright, privacy, employment, database-rights and computer-access rules vary by jurisdiction. Have counsel review your proposed project where the stakes justify it.
Permission is the first technical requirement
Do not treat any of the following as authorization:
- Having a Glassdoor account or being able to view a page while logged in.
- Finding a page through a search engine or loading it in a normal browser.
- Seeing an endpoint, page source, embedded JSON or network request in developer tools.
- Using a robots.txt file, a rate limit, a proxy or a CAPTCHA-solving service.
- Relying on a vendor that claims its method is “undetectable.”
The reviewed official material does not document a public, general-purpose scraping API or a self-service bulk-data approval route. Ask Glassdoor directly for express written permission and keep the response with your project records.
What a useful authorization letter should specify
Request permission in operational terms rather than asking generally to “scrape Glassdoor.” Ask the company to confirm:
- The exact Glassdoor properties, URL patterns, profile or review types and geographic editions covered.
- The fields you may collect, including whether review text, ratings, salaries, employer names, author details or media are included.
- Whether collection may use an API, browser automation, a supplied export, screenshots or another method.
- Maximum request rate, concurrency, schedule, account requirements and any approved user-agent identification.
- How you may store, secure, analyze, publish, share and delete the material.
- Whether personal data, user-generated content and derived statistics have additional restrictions.
- The authorization’s start date, end date, renewal process and named Glassdoor contact.
If an answer leaves a method, field or reuse case unclear, pause that part of the project and obtain clarification. Authorization for a one-time report is not automatically authorization for a continuously refreshed dataset.
A compliant workflow for an authorized project
Once written permission exists, use the narrowest process that meets the approved purpose. The following workflow creates an audit trail without suggesting a bypass.
- Freeze the scope. Store the authorization letter, approved URL patterns, fields, rate limits, retention period and contact information in a versioned project record.
- Choose an approved access method. Prefer an endpoint or export Glassdoor explicitly provides. If browser automation is approved, identify your agent honestly and follow the specified session and account rules.
- Minimize collection. Request only the fields and pages named in the permission. Do not create accounts, messages or interactions beyond what the authorization allows.
- Throttle and schedule. Stay at or below the written request rate and concurrency. Add backoff for transient failures rather than increasing traffic.
- Record provenance. For each item, retain the collection time, URL or approved record identifier, authorization version and processing status. Keep raw and transformed data separable.
- Protect personal data. Restrict access, encrypt storage, define deletion jobs and remove fields that are not needed for the stated purpose.
- Stop on boundary conditions. Stop and contact Glassdoor if the site presents a bot check, changes a page, returns an unexpected account challenge or serves content outside the approved scope.
- Review before release. Check that publication, internal sharing and derived metrics are permitted. Preserve a record of deletions and corrections.
What Glassdoor says about review integrity
Glassdoor says it uses technology, algorithms and human moderation to validate reviews and detect potential fraud. Its trust material says only users with validated accounts can submit reviews, reviewers must confirm that their submissions are truthful and comply with the terms, and a reviewer is limited to one review per company per year. It calls attempts to manipulate systems with bots “System Cheating.”
Those statements describe Glassdoor’s controls; they do not provide a measured detection rate or guarantee that every review is genuine. Glassdoor also acknowledges that it cannot fully confirm every user’s identity, every contribution’s complete truth or exact employment status. Treat reviews, salaries and other user-generated material as accounts that require context and cross-checking.

The Terms of Use disclaim guarantees about the accuracy, currency, suitability, reliability and quality of information on or linked through the services. Do not describe an extracted collection as complete, verified or representative without separate evidence. Report the collection date, inclusion rules, missing pages and any deduplication or filtering applied.
Personal-data requests are different from bulk collection
Glassdoor’s security information says users can learn about, access, download, delete and control personal data Glassdoor holds about them. That is a route for an individual to exercise rights over their own data. It is not evidence that one user may export other people’s reviews, salaries or profiles, and it does not replace written permission for bulk collection.
If your goal is to obtain your own information, use the account’s privacy or data-request process and identify yourself as the data subject. If your goal is research across many people or employers, describe that separate purpose to Glassdoor and request a specifically scoped authorization or an approved data supply.
What not to build
Without written permission, avoid scripts or services that:
- Rotate proxies, fingerprints, accounts or credentials to evade limits.
- Solve or outsource CAPTCHAs, defeat access controls or replay private tokens.
- Generate multiple accounts, automated messages or artificial engagement.
- Hammer pages with parallel workers, ignore errors or retry indefinitely.
- Copy content into a republished database when the permission does not cover redistribution.
These approaches can conflict directly with the terms’ restrictions on automated agents, burden and security circumvention. A successful HTTP response is not evidence that the activity is allowed.
Troubleshooting an authorized collection
| Symptom | Likely cause | Compliant response |
|---|---|---|
| Bot check or CAPTCHA | The access path is challenged or outside the approved automation profile. | Stop. Do not bypass it; ask Glassdoor whether an approved endpoint, export or revised method is available. |
| Blank or partial page | Client-side rendering, an account state, a regional edition or a changed layout. | Capture the failure, timestamp and URL. Confirm the page and rendering method are in scope before retrying. |
| HTTP 403, 429 or repeated timeouts | Permission, rate, session or service-limit issue. | Honor the written limits, apply bounded backoff and contact the named owner. Do not increase concurrency or rotate identities. |
| Fields disappear after a redesign | Selectors or page structure changed. | Pause the job, update the scope and validation tests, and obtain approval if the new structure changes what is collected. |
| Duplicate or conflicting reviews | Pagination, revisions, regional pages or identifier changes. | Use stable identifiers supplied or approved by Glassdoor; document deduplication and retain the original provenance. |
Performance, reliability and cost planning
Plan around the limits in your written authorization, not an assumed benchmark. Measure successful records, rejected requests, retries, latency, bytes stored and pages skipped. A smaller, scheduled job is easier to audit and less likely to burden the service than an unbounded crawl.
Separate transient failures from permanent denials. Use a finite retry count with exponential backoff for network errors, but do not retry an access refusal, security challenge or out-of-scope URL. Keep a dead-letter queue for records that require human review. Before a long run, test a small sample approved by Glassdoor and compare the output with a manually reviewed set.
Budget for authorization, secure storage, monitoring, review and deletion—not only compute or proxy costs. No official source reviewed for this article publishes a Glassdoor scraping detection rate, verified coverage percentage or guaranteed dataset-completeness figure.

If your written authorization covers visual capture, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF through one request. A screenshot is not permission to collect Glassdoor data and does not turn a prohibited crawl into an allowed one; use it only for URLs and frequency covered by your authorization. The API can accept cookies, headers, a user agent, a viewport, wait conditions and other capture settings described in the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

require('fs').writeFileSync('shot.webp', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer()));
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie or consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and each response reports the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Every feature is available on every plan. Frequently asked questions
Does Glassdoor’s July 1, 2026 revision apply outside the United States?
The terms are Glassdoor’s published contract, while the legal effect of a term can depend on jurisdiction, user status and other agreements. Obtain local legal advice for a jurisdiction-specific conclusion.
Can I publish aggregate statistics made from authorized reviews?
Only if the written permission covers aggregation, publication, audience, retention and the fields used. Aggregation does not automatically remove contractual or privacy restrictions.

Is a screenshot an export of the underlying review data?
No. It is a rendered image or PDF and may omit hidden fields, pagination and machine-readable structure. Treat it as a separate approved deliverable, not as a general data-export right.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a public Glassdoor page be reused in a commercial report?
Public visibility alone does not answer the permission question. Check the written authorization and the terms that govern your account and intended reuse.
Where can I find a guaranteed Glassdoor scraping API?
The official material reviewed here does not document a public general-purpose scraping API or self-service bulk approval route. Ask Glassdoor for an authorized method.
