Windows and Mac provide selection or full-screen controls; Android and iPhone use hardware-button shortcuts. A normal screenshot records only what is visible, while a longer capture works only when your operating system and the current YouTube view support scrolling capture.
Before you capture the YouTube Home page
The Home feed is personalized. Your watch history, preferences and other activity can change the videos and shelves that appear, so two accounts may produce different screenshots. YouTube can also display a different layout in its mobile app, mobile browser view or desktop browser view.
- Open the YouTube app or visit youtube.com in a browser.
- Select Home if another section is open.
- Wait for thumbnails, titles and navigation elements to finish loading.
- Close menus, cookie notices, chat bubbles or other overlays that you do not want in the image.
- Scroll until the exact part of the feed you need is visible.
- Use the platform instructions below, then inspect the preview before saving or sharing.
YouTube does not provide a dedicated “screenshot homepage” command. The capture is performed by Windows, macOS, Android or iOS.
Capture the YouTube homepage on Windows 10 or 11
Select a region with Snipping Tool
- Leave the YouTube Home page visible.
- Press Windows + Shift + S.
- Choose a rectangular, window, full-screen or other available capture mode in the Snipping Tool overlay.
- Drag over the YouTube page or choose the browser window. Selecting only the page keeps browser tabs and other applications out of the image.
- Open the notification or Snipping Tool editor to crop, draw, copy or save the result.
The selected image is copied for quick pasting, and Snipping Tool provides editing and saving controls.

Copy the entire display with Print Screen
Press Print Screen (PrtSc) to copy a full-screen snapshot to the clipboard. Paste it into Paint, an email or another image editor, then crop away browser chrome if necessary. On some keyboards you may need Fn + PrtSc.
Capture the YouTube homepage on a Mac
Full screen
Press Shift + Command + 3. macOS saves the image to the desktop by default unless you have changed the screenshot destination.
Only the YouTube area
- Press Shift + Command + 4.
- Drag the crosshair around the browser content you want.
- Release the pointer to capture the selection.
To capture a particular window, press Shift + Command + 4, tap the spacebar, and click the browser window. macOS may include the window shadow; a selection lets you trim it.
Use Screenshot controls
On macOS Mojave 10.14 and later, press Shift + Command + 5 to open the Screenshot app. Choose full screen, a window or a selected portion, and set options such as a timer or save location. A timer helps when you need to open a menu or move the pointer before capture.

Capture the YouTube homepage on Android

- Open the YouTube Home screen and position it.
- Press Power + Volume Down at the same time, then release.
- Tap the preview to crop, annotate or share, or open the image later in Google Photos or your phone’s Gallery app.
If the buttons do not work, hold the Power button briefly and tap Screenshot. Button behavior varies by manufacturer, so use the phone maker’s support instructions when neither method is available.
Longer scrolling capture
Android 12 and later offer Capture more on most screens that allow scrolling. After taking the initial screenshot, tap Capture more, extend the selection downward, and save it. Availability depends on the device and the current app or browser; a YouTube feed may not always expose the option.

iPhones with Face ID
Quickly press and release Side + Volume Up together. Tap the thumbnail in the lower-left corner to crop, mark up, copy or share, then tap Done to save or delete it.
iPhones with a Home button
Quickly press and release Home + Side together. (On some older models, the top button replaces the Side button.) Edit from the preview or find the saved image in Photos.

Full Page when it is offered
For supported content, tap the screenshot preview and choose Full Page. Apple documents this option for webpages such as Safari pages. It is not guaranteed to appear inside every YouTube app or mobile-browser view, so use it only when iOS presents the option.

Make the screenshot readable and safe to share
- Wait for stable content: let thumbnails and text load before pressing the shortcut.
- Use a consistent viewport: desktop, mobile browser and app layouts have different navigation and card widths.
- Crop deliberately: retain the YouTube header or Home label if viewers need context, but remove unrelated tabs and notifications.
- Check personal data: profile names, account avatars, private messages and browser bookmarks can appear in a full-screen capture.
- Annotate after saving: arrows or boxes can identify a video without changing the original image.
- Expect feed changes: recommendations can refresh after navigation, sign-in changes or watch activity, so capture the state you actually need.

The shortcut does nothing
Make sure the keys are pressed together and released promptly. On Windows, try the on-screen Snipping Tool or check whether a keyboard’s Function lock changes PrtSc. On Android, use the Power-button menu’s Screenshot command. On iPhone, press both buttons quickly rather than holding them.
The image contains a black, blank or stale area
Return to YouTube Home, wait for the feed to render, and capture again. A slow connection, a page transition or an overlay can leave an incomplete frame. For automated requests, inspect X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed when using ScreenshotNeo.
I cannot capture the entire scrolling feed
A standard screenshot is limited to the visible screen. Try Android’s Capture more or iPhone’s Full Page when the current view offers it. If the control is absent, take several overlapping screenshots and combine them manually; neither platform guarantees extended capture in every YouTube view.

The Home page looks different from another person’s
Recommendations are personalized by account activity and preferences. Confirm that both captures use the same account, device mode and approximate time, and remember that the feed can change without a layout change.

Browser controls are in the image
Use a region or window capture instead of full screen, or crop the saved file. On a phone, position the page so the browser address bar is minimized before invoking the screenshot command.

It records a single still frame at the instant of capture; it does not save a playable video or the rest of the feed.
Can I capture the YouTube homepage while signed out?
Yes. YouTube can open Home without an account, but the visible recommendations and prompts may differ from a signed-in feed.
What file format should I use?
Use the format your operating system saves by default, then export to PNG, JPEG or another format in an image editor if a website or workflow requires it.
