Neither Rank Math nor AIOSEO is the better choice for every WordPress site. Both offer free versions and paid plans, and their core SEO features overlap. Choose by matching the features you will actually use to your workflow, integrations, site-license needs and renewal budget—not by counting feature-list checkboxes. Available product information does not establish that either plugin improves rankings or site speed more than the other.

Which plugin fits your needs?
Choose by the features you will use
Start with the jobs your site needs its SEO plugin to handle: metadata, content analysis, schema, XML sitemaps, redirects, monitoring or an integration such as WooCommerce. The free-tier feature lists overlap in several areas, but the available descriptions do not establish that every feature has identical availability or behavior across products and plans. Check the current listings for the exact feature you need rather than relying on a headline feature count.
Consider workflow, not just feature count
Both vendors document setup and analysis tools. AIOSEO’s comparison page makes its own judgments about ease of setup and other features; those are the vendor’s opinions, not an independent head-to-head assessment. AIOSEO’s comparison can help identify dimensions to evaluate, but decide based on the actual settings and workflow you prefer.
#1 Best Overall
Match the license to the sites you manage
If you run several sites, distinguish sites you personally own from client sites. Rank Math explicitly separates its personal-site PRO scope from Business and Agency plans for client sites. AIOSEO’s pricing page shows different site limits by tier. Compare permitted use and site count against your actual portfolio before selecting a plan; the plan names alone do not establish that a license covers your use case.
Pay only for a feature you need
Examples of paid capabilities listed by AIOSEO include local SEO, rank tracking, automatic internal linking and WooCommerce SEO. If one of those is essential, verify which current tier includes it. Likewise, review Rank Math’s current feature and pricing pages for the exact plan entitlement. A paid tier is not necessary for every WordPress site, and feature availability should be checked before purchase.

What to check before paying
Pricing pages can show promotions, and discounts, currencies, renewal terms and feature entitlements may change. The available information does not provide a stable apples-to-apples price comparison for publication. Check both vendors’ live pages and checkout terms on the day you buy:
- Plan entitlement: Does the exact tier include the feature you need?
- License scope: How many sites are covered, and does the plan permit client work?
- Billing basis: What currency and billing interval apply, and are taxes extra?
- Renewal: Is the displayed amount promotional or recurring, and what will renewal cost?
See Rank Math’s pricing page and AIOSEO’s pricing page for current plan terms. Compare like with like: do not weigh one plugin’s introductory offer against the other’s renewal price.

How to switch between Rank Math and AIOSEO safely
Both plugins’ WordPress.org listings describe import support involving the other plugin. That establishes a migration route, not a guarantee that every custom configuration will transfer perfectly. Use this checklist when changing plugins:
- Back up the site before changing SEO plugins, so you can recover if the result is wrong.
- Install and configure the replacement’s importer using its current plugin interface and documentation.
- Ensure only one plugin outputs each SEO function. Rank Math advises against running another plugin that duplicates its SEO functions, since overlapping output can create conflicts.
- Inspect a representative set of important pages. Check titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs, schema and redirects against the old setup.
- Check the XML sitemap and Search Console after the change, then monitor crawl errors and important landing pages for unexpected changes.
Review the rendered page output, not only settings screens: a value saved in the dashboard does not confirm that the intended metadata or markup appears on the live page.

Can Rank Math or AIOSEO be said to rank better?
No conclusion that one ranks better is supported by these product descriptions. Feature lists do not measure ranking outcomes, and there is no controlled comparison of ranking performance or speed here. Treat features such as schema, sitemaps and content analysis as tools for managing SEO work, not evidence of a guaranteed ranking gain.
