You can add customer-facing QR payments to a WordPress store with a WooCommerce QR payment gateway plugin: install it, enable its payment method, and enter the merchant QR details it requires. The cited QR plugins describe manual payment verification, so staff must confirm the transfer before marking an order paid. If you mean scanning a QR code at an in-person sale, WooCommerce’s PayPal Here documentation describes a separate merchant-side flow—not a normal customer checkout option.
Choose the QR payment flow you need
“QR code payments” can refer to two different checkout experiences. Pick the one that matches how your customers pay before installing anything.

Set up customer-facing QR payments
WordPress.org listings describe QR payment gateways for WooCommerce. The precise payment apps, account details, and customer steps differ by plugin and market; for example, one listing describes UPI apps, while another lists multiple wallet and payment services. Confirm that the gateway can receive payments for your merchant location and that your intended customers can use its supported app or bank before enabling it.
- Check the current plugin listing. Review the payment methods and markets it supports, its recent maintenance and compatibility information, documentation, and support details. Feature descriptions are vendor claims, not an independent assessment of the plugin’s security or code quality.
- Install and activate the plugin. Use the current installation process in your WordPress administration area, then activate the plugin.
- Open WooCommerce payment settings. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments. Find the newly added QR payment method and enable it. The plugin’s own documentation or settings screen may give a more specific path or label.
- Enter the merchant payment details. Configure the QR image or account information requested by the plugin. Make sure the code directs funds to the account your business actually monitors.
- Explain the buyer’s next step. If the plugin asks customers to enter a transaction ID or upload a receipt, state that clearly in checkout instructions and order communications.
- Reconcile transfers before fulfilling orders. The cited QR plugin listings describe manual verification. Check the payment in the receiving wallet or account and match it to the order before treating that order as paid.
Use PayPal Here for merchant-scanned, in-person payments
This is not a way to display a QR transfer option in a customer’s web checkout. In WooCommerce’s documented PayPal Here flow, the merchant opens an unpaid order in the administration order screen, scans its QR code with the PayPal Here app, then uses the app to open the order details and take payment.

The documentation lists HTTPS, an eligible PayPal Business account with PayPal Here enabled, a compatible device and app, and a compatible reader among the requirements. Check that PayPal Here is available for your location and account before relying on this service; the documentation retains the PayPal Here name, so confirm its current status and suitability with PayPal.
Use Stripe for a conventional online gateway
If your goal is an integrated online payment processor rather than a customer-scanned QR transfer, WooCommerce documents its Stripe extension. Its setup requirements include a business in a Stripe-supported country, recent PHP, WordPress, and WooCommerce versions, and an SSL certificate with HTTPS. Review the current requirements and instructions on the Stripe setup and configuration page before installing. The extension documentation covers cards, express checkout, local payment methods, and buy-now-pay-later methods; these are distinct from the manual QR-transfer flow.

Check these points before you choose
- Market and payment app: Verify that the provider can receive money in your country and that customers you serve can use the relevant payment method. Plugin listings describe different provider and market combinations; none should be assumed universal.
- Payment confirmation: Determine whether transactions are confirmed automatically or require staff to check account activity and transaction details. The cited QR plugin listings describe manual verification.
- Checkout experience: Decide whether customers will scan a merchant QR code to transfer payment or staff will scan an order QR code during an in-person transaction.
- Prerequisites: Check provider eligibility, required account features, current software requirements, device or reader needs, and HTTPS where applicable.
