To install several WordPress plugins in one go, use WP-CLI: the wp plugin install command accepts multiple plugin slugs, ZIP files, or ZIP URLs, and --activate can activate them after installation. For a small batch without shell access, install plugins from Plugins → Add New in the dashboard, one at a time.
Choose the right bulk-install method

WordPress.org’s Manage Plugins guide describes three ways to install plugins, including installing from the Plugin Directory and uploading a ZIP. WP-CLI’s plugin install command reference says the command installs one or more plugins.
Install a small batch in the WordPress dashboard
- In the dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New.
- For a directory plugin, search for it and select Install Now. For a plugin ZIP you already have, select Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, and install it.
- Review the plugin details and compatibility indicator before activating it.
- Activate each installed plugin from the Plugins screen.
The dashboard is straightforward when you are installing just a few plugins. It does not turn a selection of several plugins into a single install action, so repeated setups are easier to reproduce with WP-CLI.
Install multiple plugins with WP-CLI
Run WP-CLI from the WordPress site’s directory, or otherwise target the correct installation. The command syntax is:

wp plugin install akismet ./private-plugin.zip https://example.com/vendor-plugin.zip --activateUse a plugin’s actual WordPress.org slug, not necessarily the name displayed in its listing. A local ZIP path must point to a file available to the machine running WP-CLI; a remote ZIP URL must be reachable from that environment.
Pin a WordPress.org plugin version
To request a particular WordPress.org version, add --version=<version>, for example:

wp plugin install akismet --version=5.3 --activatePinning helps make a saved setup command more deliberate, but it also means you will not automatically get a newer release through that command. Check that the version you specify is available before relying on it.
Understand overwrite and requirement options
Use --force only when you intentionally want to overwrite an existing installation, such as for a deliberate reinstall or repair. Do not treat it as a routine part of a bulk-install command.

WP-CLI also offers --ignore-requirements, which bypasses declared WordPress and PHP requirements. That can leave a plugin running against an unsupported or incompatible environment, so reserve it for an understood troubleshooting case rather than normal installation.
Install first, then choose how to activate
Installation puts plugin files on the site; activation is a separate decision. To inspect the installed plugins before turning them on, omit --activate during installation, review them in the dashboard, and then run:

wp plugin activate akismet wordpress-seo --networkChoose per-site activation or network-wide activation intentionally. The install command also lists --activate-network as an option for network activation during installation; use it only when network-wide activation is what you want.
Run the same setup on staging or a remote site
WP-CLI supports remote HTTP or SSH targeting through its global parameters. When remote access is configured, the same plugin-install pattern can target a staging or managed site instead of the local installation. Confirm the target site before running an install or activation command, especially when a command is saved for reuse.

Check these details before running a long command
- Verify every slug. A misspelled or incorrect slug can make an install fail or point to a different project than you intended.
- Trust the package source. Prefer official WordPress.org slugs or ZIP URLs from vendors you trust.
- Review compatibility. Check plugin details and compatibility information in the Plugins screen before activation.
- Set activation scope. On multisite, decide whether activation should apply to one site or the whole network.
- Decide how to handle versions. Without a pinned version, you are not specifying a release in the command; use
--versionwhen a particular WordPress.org version is required. - Check filesystem access. If the dashboard cannot write plugin files, resolve the hosting or filesystem permissions issue, or use a correctly configured WP-CLI setup rather than repeatedly retrying uploads.
