You can accept Alipay in WordPress by connecting an eligible payment-provider account through a compatible plugin. Installing a plugin alone does not create an Alipay merchant account or guarantee approval. The right route depends on where your business operates, where it can settle funds, which WordPress checkout or membership system you use, and whether you need recurring payments.
Choose a route that fits your business and checkout
Check merchant eligibility and settlement requirements before installing anything. These options are described in their plugin listings; they are not independent tests of compatibility with a particular site.

Plugin features and supported WordPress or WooCommerce versions can change. Check the current listing and provider documentation against your exact site configuration before committing to a route.

Check eligibility, settlement, and payment type
Write down your business’s legal or operating country, the bank account that will receive payouts, and the settlement currency you need. Then confirm directly with the provider that it will onboard your business and that its payout arrangements work for you. The listings do not fully establish current approval criteria, transaction fees, settlement timing, or refund charges, so request those terms before choosing.

Also decide whether Alipay will be used for one-time purchases or recurring billing. The Stripe-backed China Payments Plugin listing explicitly says recurring Alipay payments are unsupported. Do not assume that another plugin supports subscriptions unless its provider confirms that feature for your account and checkout setup.

Connect Alipay to your WordPress site
- Choose the provider first. Confirm merchant eligibility, settlement bank and currency, and support for your commerce or membership plugin. For the Stripe-backed option, verify that your Stripe account is in a supported country; for Yedpay, confirm the stated Hong Kong requirements.
- Open and verify the provider account. Follow the provider’s onboarding process and obtain the credentials required by its plugin. AlphaPay and Yedpay describe account setup and credential configuration in their listings. A WordPress plugin does not replace this approval step.
- Install the compatible plugin. Use the plugin’s current WordPress.org listing or the provider’s documented installation route. Check the listing for its current WordPress and WooCommerce compatibility, then install it on a staging site before enabling it on a live checkout.
- Configure the gateway. In WooCommerce, open WooCommerce > Settings > Payments, enable the installed gateway if it appears there, and enter the provider’s required credentials. If the plugin uses its own settings screen, follow its current instructions. Confirm that the checkout displays Alipay only where the provider and plugin permit it.
- Set up return and confirmation behavior. Configure any return or callback URLs the provider requires. Wenprise’s listing describes synchronous and asynchronous callbacks and order-status queries. The store should not mark an order paid merely because a customer returns from the Alipay page; payment status should follow provider confirmation.
- Test before launch. Use provider test mode where available and run transactions on staging. Check the customer redirect and return experience, the resulting WooCommerce order status, confirmation messages, and the provider’s refund flow. The cited listings describe plugin behavior, but do not establish that a live store has been tested.
What to verify before accepting live payments
- Provider account approval and merchant-country eligibility.
- Supported payout bank, settlement currency, timing, and fees, confirmed from current provider terms.
- Whether the integration supports your required payment pattern, especially subscriptions or other recurring billing.
- Compatibility with your WordPress, WooCommerce, membership plugin, theme, and checkout extensions.
- Successful provider-confirmed payment, order updates, customer returns, and refunds in your own staging setup.
