Create a wedding website by choosing a platform, selecting a recognizable web address, adding the details guests need, configuring and testing RSVPs, setting privacy controls, publishing the site, and then sharing its address with your invitations. The best platform depends on how much you value integrated guest management versus visual customization.
What a wedding website should do
Think of the site as a guest information hub rather than a second invitation. Put the practical answers in one place:
- ceremony and reception dates, times, and locations
- the weekend schedule
- attire guidance
- directions, maps, transportation, parking, and hotel information
- RSVP instructions and any meal or attendance questions
- a registry link
- a contact method for questions
A short couple story and a few photos can personalize the site, but they are optional.
Choose a platform that fits your planning workflow
Wedding-focused services such as Zola and The Knot combine wedding pages with guest-list, RSVP, registry, and communication features. General builders such as Wix and Squarespace provide wedding templates with different levels of layout and content control. Compare the actual features you will use before creating the site.

1. Start with a wedding template
Sign up with your chosen service and select a wedding design. A template gives you the basic page structure; you can then adjust colors, typography, sections, and photos to match your invitations.

2. Choose a clear site name and address
Use a short URL guests can recognize and type without confusion, such as a combination of both names or your names and wedding year. Avoid unusual punctuation and spelling that guests may mistype. A custom domain may require a paid plan or upgrade, depending on the provider.
3. Add the essential guest information
Enter confirmed details first, then add supplementary information that reduces questions:

Keep wording consistent with your printed invitation. If a time or location changes, update the website and tell guests where the correction applies.
4. Configure the RSVP form
Use the platform’s RSVP tool only if its workflow matches your guest list and invitation setup. Confirm how guests find their invitation and whether the form supports the information you need, such as attendance and meal preferences. Providers implement these features differently, so inspect the exact form and response view rather than assuming every service offers the same questions.

5. Set privacy deliberately
If the site contains guest-only travel, accommodation, or schedule details, enable a password or another available access control. Zola describes optional password protection. This is a platform feature, not a guarantee that every page or shared link is completely private; do not publish information you would not want redistributed.
6. Publish and test before sending the address
An edited site is not necessarily live. The Knot Help Center states that guests cannot access a site until it is published. Before distributing the URL:

- Open the public address in a private or logged-out browser window.
- Review every page on a phone, including menus and text size.
- Verify dates, times, addresses, maps, hotel details, and attire wording.
- Open every external link and submit a test RSVP if the platform allows it.
- Confirm the URL works without an editor login and that any password prompt behaves as expected.
7. Share the website
Print or write the URL in save-the-date and invitation communications. A details card with a QR code is an optional paper-friendly way to open the address; Zola depicts this format. Include the plain-text URL as well, because some guests will type it or use a computer.

Zola and The Knot are designed around wedding tasks, so integrated guest lists, RSVPs, registries, travel information, and wedding sections may reduce setup work. Check whether their RSVP questions, privacy controls, URL options, and invitation workflow fit your event.
General website builders
Wix and Squarespace offer wedding designs and broader control over page layout and custom content. They can suit couples who care more about visual flexibility, but verify how guest management, RSVP collection, registry links, and domain costs work in the specific plan you select.
