“Multiple screenshots at once” can mean three different jobs: taking several separate captures during one session, saving one very long webpage, or running a repeatable batch across many URLs. Windows and macOS handle the first job quickly, Microsoft Edge handles a full page, and a command-line workflow is best for repeatable batches. Choose the section that matches your goal.
Choose the right kind of multiple screenshot

These workflows are not interchangeable. Repeating a region snip is manual but flexible; a full-page capture avoids stitching scroll positions; a scripted batch is the only practical choice when the list of pages or states keeps changing.
Take several separate screenshots on Windows
Windows 10 and Windows 11 include Snipping Tool. Microsoft’s current support instructions describe rectangle, free-form, window, and full-screen captures. Keyboard labels can differ slightly between Windows versions, but the workflow is the same.
Capture a series with one shortcut
- Arrange the first region, window, or application you want to capture.
- Press Windows+Shift+S. The capture overlay appears.
- Choose Rectangle, Free-form, Window, or Full-screen mode.
- Drag the region, select the window, or confirm the full screen. The result is copied to the clipboard, and a Snipping Tool notification lets you open it to save or share.
- Repeat the shortcut for each target. If you want another snip in the same mode, press Alt+N instead of reopening the mode menu.
Paste each capture into an editor, message, or document immediately if you need to preserve the clipboard contents. A new capture replaces the previous image on the clipboard.

Capture a timed menu or transient state
Some menus disappear as soon as you invoke the overlay. In Snipping Tool, press Alt+D to set a delay from 1 to 5 seconds, open the menu or hover state, and let the timer capture it. Use the shortest delay that gives you enough time; longer delays make a series slower and increase the chance that the target changes.
Use Print Screen for whole-screen copies
Pressing Print Screen copies the full screen to the clipboard. This is useful when every capture is the same monitor view and you do not need a file immediately. For a single application window, use the Snipping Tool’s Window mode so other windows are excluded.
Keep a Windows series organized
- Save each image from the Snipping Tool notification before starting the next capture if you need independent files.
- Use a consistent folder and a name such as
step-01.png,step-02.png, and so on. - When documenting a process, capture the same window size and zoom level each time so the images line up.
- Use the delay only for states that cannot be opened before the shortcut; otherwise it adds unnecessary waiting.
Take several separate screenshots on macOS
On macOS Mojave 10.14 and later, Apple’s built-in Screenshot app provides the capture controls. Apple says screenshots are saved to the desktop by default with a date-and-time filename, which makes a series easy to find and sort chronologically.

- Open the Screenshot controls with Shift+Command+5, or launch the Screenshot app from Applications.
- Choose the full screen, a window, or a selected portion.
- Capture the first target.
- Repeat for each target. Leave the control bar available if you are taking a long sequence so you do not have to search for the app each time.
Because each image receives its own timestamped filename on the desktop, you can select the series and move it to a project folder afterward. If you need descriptive names, rename the files after capture or save them into a destination folder configured in the Screenshot options.
When macOS is better than clipboard-based capture
The default file behavior is useful for batches: every capture is preserved without relying on a single clipboard slot. It is also safer when you need to close the source application immediately after each shot.
Capture one long webpage in Microsoft Edge
If “multiple screenshots” really means content that continues below the viewport, do not take dozens of overlapping scroll captures. In Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and select Capture full page. Edge captures the page without requiring manual scrolling, then lets you save or share the result.

Full-page workflow
- Open the page and wait until the content you need has loaded.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Select Capture full page.
- Review the resulting long image, then save or copy it.
Full-page capture is a single document, not a folder of viewport-sized images. It is ideal for an article, receipt, or documentation page that must remain in reading order.

Important Edge limitations
Microsoft notes that Screenshot availability can vary by device type, market, and browser version. If the command or label is missing, update Edge where your organization permits updates or use the Windows Snipping Tool and capture the page in sections. Pages with virtualized lists, fixed-position elements, or content that appears only after interaction may not represent the same state throughout a full-page image.
Run repeatable batches with shot-scraper
For many URLs, scheduled documentation, or regression snapshots, use a command-line batch instead of repeating keyboard shortcuts. shot-scraper accepts a YAML configuration describing multiple screenshots. Its documentation for version 0.14.2 also describes --no-clobber, which skips files that already exist, and --retina, which requests retina-resolution output. Verify the syntax against the version installed on your machine before automating a production job.
Define the captures in YAML
Create a file such as multi.yaml containing the pages and output names required by your installed shot-scraper version:

Run without overwriting existing files
shot-scraper multi.yaml --no-clobberWith --no-clobber, files already present are skipped rather than replaced. This is useful for an archive in which a rerun should capture only new destinations.

Request higher-density output
shot-scraper multi.yaml --no-clobber --retinaUse --retina when the images will be inspected on a high-density display or inserted into a document that benefits from extra pixels. Higher-density output increases file size and processing work, so use it only when the final use justifies it.
Make a batch reliable
- Use stable, descriptive output paths so a rerun cannot accidentally mix unrelated pages.
- Keep the YAML under version control with the date or revision of the pages it represents.
- Run a small two-URL batch first and confirm that the files, dimensions, and page states are correct.
- Use
--no-clobberfor archival runs and omit it when you intentionally want fresh replacements. - Check the installed shot-scraper version before copying commands from another machine; the cited behavior is tied to the 0.14.2 documentation.

Troubleshoot common failures
The shortcut does nothing on Windows
Confirm that the Windows key is not disabled by a keyboard utility or an organization policy. Open Snipping Tool from the Start menu and test a capture there. If the app opens but the overlay does not, install pending Windows updates permitted by your device policy and try again.
A menu closes before it is captured
Use Snipping Tool’s Alt+D delay, choose 1–5 seconds, then open the menu during the countdown. A delay cannot capture a state that changes after the timer expires, so rehearse the sequence once.
A screenshot disappears when the next one is taken
Clipboard captures are replaced by the next clipboard operation. Open the Snipping Tool notification and save each image, or paste it into a document before taking another capture. On macOS, use the desktop files rather than a clipboard workflow.
Edge has no Capture full page option
Edge’s Screenshot feature is not identical on every device, market, or browser version. Update the browser if allowed, then try the command again. If the option remains unavailable, capture sections with Snipping Tool or use a scripted webpage workflow.
The full-page image misses content
Wait for the page to finish loading before invoking Edge’s command. Content that loads only after scrolling, clicking, or expanding a control may not appear. Open those sections first, then capture again.

shot-scraper overwrites or skips the wrong files
Check the output paths in the YAML and whether --no-clobber is present. Existing files are intentionally skipped when that option is used. Remove the option only when replacement is intended, and verify the command syntax for your installed release.

Start with a small subset to identify a bad URL or configuration entry. Split a large YAML file into logical groups, use normal rather than retina output unless required, and avoid recapturing files protected by --no-clobber. These steps reduce unnecessary work without changing the capture content.
