If Google Authenticator codes are rejected on “Uplay,” the current Ubisoft Connect PC login, the usual causes are an incorrect phone clock, the wrong Ubisoft token, or a token that was never transferred to a replacement phone. Google Authenticator generates codes locally, so mobile service is not required, but the phone’s operating-system time and the original Ubisoft secret must be correct. Follow the checks below in order.
Start with the quick fix
- Open Google Authenticator and select the entry belonging to the exact Ubisoft account you are trying to access.
- In your phone’s Settings, open Date & time (or General > Date & Time on iPhone) and enable automatic date/time and automatic time zone. Menu names vary by device and operating-system version.
- Restart Authenticator, wait for a newly generated code, and submit it immediately before it changes.
Do not set the clock manually. Google says current Authenticator versions use the operating system’s time settings; version 7.0 and later no longer provide the old in-app “time correction” control. See Google’s troubleshooting guidance.
When Ubisoft still says the code is invalid
Verify the account and token
- Compare the Ubisoft email or username shown on the login screen with the label in Authenticator.
- Check for duplicate Ubisoft entries and try only the one created for that account.
- In Authenticator, tap the profile icon and check every Google Account listed. Codes may appear missing when you are signed out of the account that synchronized them.
- Never use an old screenshot, a code that already failed, or a code from Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Bitwarden, or another app unless the original Ubisoft secret was deliberately imported there.
A code changing while you type is normal. Wait for the next full code if the current one is about to expire, then submit it once. Repeated failed attempts can trigger additional account or session checks, so do not keep retrying indefinitely.
If you changed phones or reinstalled Authenticator
Restore synchronized entries
Google Authenticator can synchronize codes across devices when you are signed in to the relevant Google Account. Google documents synchronization from version 6.0 or later on Android and version 4.0 or later on iOS. Install the current app, sign in to each Google Account you used, and check whether the Ubisoft entry returns. Synchronization does not restore a token that was stored only locally.

Transfer from the old phone
If the old phone still works, do not erase it. Google’s manual transfer requires the latest Authenticator on both devices:
- On the old phone, open Menu > Transfer accounts > Export accounts and unlock the device.
- Select the Ubisoft entry and tap Next to display the export QR code.
- On the new phone, choose Menu > Transfer accounts > Import accounts, then scan the QR code.
- Test a login on the new phone before wiping, trading in, or resetting the old one.
Reinstalling Authenticator does not recreate a Ubisoft token. Deleting the Ubisoft entry can remove your only local copy of the secret, so check synchronization, the old phone, exported accounts, and recovery information first.

If the Ubisoft entry is gone
Look on every phone or tablet that may have held the account, check all Google Accounts in Authenticator, and search the email received when Ubisoft 2-Step Verification was enabled for recovery instructions. A new authenticator app cannot calculate the old Ubisoft code from an email address, username, or password alone.

Use a recovery code
On the Ubisoft verification screen, choose an option such as No access to Google Authenticator, Use a recovery code, or Try another method. Wording differs between Ubisoft Connect, the website, and account states. Recovery codes are separate credentials from the rotating six-digit Authenticator code; enter one only where Ubisoft specifically requests a recovery code. An old or already-used recovery code will be rejected.

If you are signed in on another device
Keep that session active. Use it to review account-security settings, update recovery information, or disable and re-enroll 2-Step Verification if the current Ubisoft interface allows it. Ubisoft publishes a deactivation article at this account-help page; available controls can vary by account and flow. Re-enroll only after confirming that you can sign in through the new method.
When neither the phone nor recovery codes are available
Use Ubisoft’s official support route at support.ubisoft.com or the Ubisoft contact page. Explain that the Google Authenticator token is missing or rejected and request account-ownership verification. Ubisoft states that users do not need to possess verification or recovery codes to contact support; an alternate verification process may be used.

Include useful ownership evidence
- Ubisoft account email and username, if known
- Platform and operating system, plus Ubisoft Connect version when relevant
- Approximate account-creation date
- Games linked to the account
- Purchase receipts or transaction IDs, if available
- Confirmation that you still control the original email address
Never send your password, a current one-time code, recovery codes, the Authenticator secret key, or full payment-card details. Do not use unofficial “Uplay authenticator” software or paid account-recovery services.
Symptom-by-symptom diagnosis
| Symptom | Likely cause | Best action |
|---|---|---|
| Every code is rejected | Wrong time, token, or Ubisoft account | Enable automatic time; verify the entry and login account; submit a fresh code |
| Codes stopped working after a phone change | Token was not transferred | Restore synchronization or transfer from the old phone |
| Ubisoft entry disappeared | Wrong Google Account, local-only storage, or deletion | Check every account and the old device; then use recovery or support |
| Code changes while typing | Normal expiration or clock mismatch | Wait for a fresh code and submit immediately |
| Recovery code is rejected | Wrong field, expired/used code, or incorrect code | Select Ubisoft’s recovery option and enter a code only there |
| 2-Step Verification appears unexpectedly | Old configuration, linked account, or possible compromise | Secure the email account and contact Ubisoft |
| Login loops back to verification | Session/client or account-side issue | Try the Ubisoft website in a private window and an updated client, then contact support |
| No email arrives | Spam filtering, delay, wrong address, or account-access issue | Check spam and the account email; avoid repeatedly requesting messages |
| Authenticator works for other services | Ubisoft token mismatch | Check the Ubisoft entry, transfer the original token, or use recovery |
Prevent the next lockout
- Keep Authenticator synchronization enabled if its account-based storage suits your security needs.
- Transfer tokens before replacing or resetting a phone.
- Store Ubisoft recovery codes offline in a secure password manager or other protected location.
- Maintain a second recovery method when Ubisoft offers one.
- Test the new phone’s Ubisoft login before deleting the old Authenticator installation.
“Uplay” is the legacy name many players still search for; the relevant current PC product is Ubisoft Connect. These steps address the Ubisoft account’s 2-Step Verification, not a particular game such as Rainbow Six Siege.
